  1. So, got the alternator unbolted and everything today, but now it is stuck where it's at on top of some suspension piece. I think it's the stabilizer bar, but I could be wrong. When I went to unbolt the last wire, the bat, that whole bolt snapped off to! I think I'll probably end up replacing the whole unit if I can't get those studs out and get them replaced with something else. Shouldn't it just pull out? My power steering lines are in the way >.<
  2. wow, I'd love to see it rev up to redline! Plan on getting us a video of it pulling too?
  3. It's really a bitch when you are getting 3-5 hours of sleep for a week straight because you're up doing school work and then you get sick from it. Body work is still down the line for me
  4. Well, she runs strong with a fresh battery for awhile so I'm thinking that it's just low power. I still haven't got a chance to solder a new connector on and then solder that connection to the post! Way too much school stuff recently >.<
  5. I would guess that a new ignition system isn;t going to hurt and probably fix things
  6. I'm pretty sure that I have seen mull's car He did an amazing job and that car should have been scrapped form the get go! If I'm going to do anything extensive I think I might pick up an s30 or another s130 from california/arizona. Used some electrical contact cleaner on the connections and found out that one of the wire connectors had rust off! Doh! I went to take the nut off of the bolt to pull of the half of a connector that was on it and the whole thing snapped clean off with minimal force. I need to get a soldering gun and then I'll just be soldering the cleaned up contacts back together. All I have is a iron right now and that definitely won't cut it.
  7. Well guys, I ran a quick search and I didn't some across anything so I figured that I could get come conformation here real quick Is the alternator off of a '77 280z compatible with a '79 280zx? I don't see why it wouldn't be because they are coming off of the same engine, but I wanted to double check. My zx has a shot alternator and I just ordered one from autozone yesterday. Today I found a member here that has a freshly rebuilt one with about an hour of run time on it before the engine was torn down to be parted for sale. If things work I'd love to save some cash and help a fellow Z'er out at the same time
  8. Oh, I sure hope so too! New PS lines are in store, but I'm okay driving her without for a little while. To make things street legal I need a registration though I got a chance to actually get under her and look and the rust of a lot worse that I was expecting it to be. I knew there was some, but it's way more that I anticipated I have a full turbo set up for her, but I'm having second thoughts now after seeing the actual shape of the body.
  9. Amazing! I wish someone would sell me something like that for $500!
  10. mmmm the connections looked good, but I think I should go and double check them. I feel like an idiot for not having done that already! I ordered a new alternator from autozone today. $99 with a $20 core so it will be $80 after I take the old one back.
  11. Before: 11.9-12.1 Running: 12.0 Lights: 11.5 2k: 11.9 2k w/ lights: 11.5 Sounds like a dead alternator if I ever saw one Turn signals are fine w/ a fresh battery.
  12. Borrowing a multimeter from my friend tonight I'll let you guys know what I get. No a/c for me
  13. Personally, I really dislike the area behind the wheels. I am a fan of the air dam though
  14. Sadly, I don't have a voltmeter. I need to get one though because I've needed one a few times before. What should I check after I get one?
  15. Bled out the lines and now everything is running great as far as the clutch goes At first it was just a solid jet of air! Now I think I'm being killed by the notorious electrical problems s130's are known for. The car starts right up on a jump, but after about a second and a half after the cables are removed she dies. With a fresh battery out of my accord she runs for about ~7 minutes. Consistent with a shot alternator? Also, my right turn signal is always on now :S I'm thinking that it is a side effect from low voltage making it to the system?
  16. Things like this is really what makes HybridZ rock! The atmosphere and willingness to help people out is unmatched anywhere else that I've been
  17. ahhhh Lovely... I had to pick up a slave and not the master, huh? Well, if a some DOT5 and a bleed doesn't fix things it looks like I'll pick up a new master and just replace the both of them. My buddy is on the way to do some pedal pumping for me
  18. Well, I'm about to see if I can fix things here. I'll let you know how it goes
  19. I had asked about it but the guy got the car as a payment of debt. Some guy owed him some cash, but he was lacking funds so he paid him with the car. I bought the car for cheap. Everyone's happy Here's some pictures of you guys care. It was in pretty dismal condition the night that I got her, but it looks a lot worse that I;m thinking it is. It would be an absolute perfect driveling donor if I needed one! Notice the red cap on the brake fluid in the last pic? Guess it was behind some reservoirs, not relays...
  20. Don't worry, I only paid $235 before I drove the car 35 miles home
  21. You know, this might explain why there was a bottle of brake fluid sitting in the engine bay behind a few relays when I bought the car...
  22. So, if I bleed it and it fixes things I should actually go through and replace it? I have a slave out of a 240 to toss in if mine is bad, but I'm not sure how many miles are on it.
  23. Yeah, what puzzles me is that it ran just fine when I parked it and there isn't anything on the ground under the car to indicate a leak! Could the cold weather have done something to gum up the fluid?
