  1. The SHO engine isn't a ford engine, it's a Yamaha engine
  2. There's a ton of good info on the HY35 here in the FAQ section
  3. I wouldn't be turning the boost up before you grab yourself an intercooler. The cheap ones off of eBay really aren't too horrible at all, and for the price they can't be beaten. After the intercooler you can bump your boost up to 12ish like people have said to get a little more juice. After that, you are going to need to ditch the stock EMS. May I be the first to recommend megasquirt to you?
  4. I'm not exactly sure how the above post fits into the thread, but I'll answer it anyways :S Ethanol has a higher octane rating than gasoline (e85 is around 110-112 IIRC), but gallon for gallon, ethanol has less energy. The 10% blend of ethanol found in lots pumps today improves the burn and makes it more completely as well as cleanly. It reduces power, emissions, and efficency.
  5. Square port headers/manifolds can be used with round port heads. Round port headers/exhaust manifolds can not be used with square port heads. You shouldn't even need to swap manifolds for you to be okay, but for him to be okay you will need to swap. What are you guys trading engines?
  6. Hey, he tried and I think I can get the jist of what he is saying. Blacktools, get some electrical contact cleaner and try cleaning up the corrosion (green rust) on your injectors. It sounds like they aren't getting any power. Also clean the plugs that go to them too. Let us know if that fixes the problem
  7. You might want to look at that radiator again. It's only a two row The integrated trans cooler is pretty cool though. I think that it would be possible to keep a relatively stock look if you painted all of your ducting work a nice flat black when you were done with it. It seems like that would make it stick out a lot less compared to having it being aluminum or having shiny rivets drawing attention.
  8. Some pics of his set up would be awesome if you could manage them
  9. Hot damn! Why did I just buy a camaro?!
  10. Have you considered selling it on eBay and buying another?
  11. Absolutely LOVE it! Is that the element green you were talking about? Is that the element green from a honda element? Do you have a color code for it?
  12. People who call an s130 a 280z really get to me as well. I hate it when people refer to all s30's as 240z's. It bugs the hell out of me when people think that there was a significant change in the body style from 240 to 260 to 280! My cousin swears that the 280z looks just like a 240, but only bigger. Just scaled up *rolls eyes*
  13. Pretty sure he meant "works similarly to a carb". I'd ditch the TBI and go with the carbed set up or look for a new engine and go with fuel injection. Any chance of moving the blower over?
  14. What size are your tires? I absolutely love the stance of the car! What suspension work have you done?
  15. Your dash looks nice Can't quite tell if it's a full cap or original though.
  16. Roof work truly sucks. I know the roof on at least 2 of my 3 s30's sucks and I'm fixing one with a hammer+dolly and body filler as I am in the process of patching the sunroof.
  17. There is some SERIOUS potential right there! Is something like that frequently available, or is this a rare happening?
  18. Element green as in the green on a stock Honda Element? Like this? I love it! I vote that you paint it that green
  19. I feel your pain! I'm in the process of doing my body work as well. The biggest thing for me has been the roof, but mine had a huge hold in it. You know, that dreaded sunroof thing Cut the whole skin off of my parts car, cut the patch, shaped it, tacked it in, stitch welded it, ground it flush, and now I'm in the process of filling everything in to make it even. To go along with the huge patch panel, there is some warpage and a few decent sized dents to boot. I'll post up some pics once I'm finished. I haven't seen a write up on how to patch a sunroof yet Everything looks great! Nice and smoootthhhh
  20. Your ending actually put a grin on my face Congratz!
  21. Don't quote me on this, but powder coat is a fine 'mist' of electro-statically charged plastic dust that is sprayed onto a piece and then it is put in an oven at ~400* until all of the plastic melts into a solid coating. You know the part is ready when it looks wet from all of the plastic being fully melted. Because of the melting, I could see the original powdercoat melting along with the new coating and having them blend together. I'll see what I can find for a definitive answer in a second though edit: Here's what I found. It all depends on what kind of powder they were coated with in the first place and if you are able to get a suitable ground with a coated piece. There are two types of powder, Thermoplastic powder (will melt an indefinite amount of times) and Thermosetting powder (will not remelt due to a chemical reaction during the baking process). I'm not sure how to determine which kind of powder your springs was coated with(maybe try melting some of it off?), but it seems to make a big difference. Another thing that's going to limit you is the ability to get a good ground and keep the part charged for the powder to stick to. Because of this, I think it would be very difficult to powdercoat over a previously coated piece using the conventional 'spray on' method'. It may be possible with a method where dipping the part into a powder solution where the the powder doesn't need to be electrically charged to stick. My advice would be to look into plasti-dipping your springs in black. It leaves a great rubberized coating (similar to what is commonly found on the handle of a pair of pliers) that can flex and bend. It also comes in a spray on form in a rattle can that gives a much thinner coating. The stuff is great
