  1. Hi guys, I recently sold my 260z which was gonna cost a heap to restore in order to buy one i found pre restored with a L28ET. However insurance companies were laughing at me before they hung up as I am 22 and apparently uninsurable with a car like that so i have decided a new attack plan. I want to buy another 260z in reasonable shape and restore the body and fit an injected L28. In three years time (when im 25 and insurance gives me a break) i will upgrade the L28 to an "L28ET" (or equivalent using L28ET parts etc). My question is in the meantime when im running the NA injected L28, what combination of head, pistons etc should i build the motor with for maximum performance but allow the easiest upgrade to L28ET status later on. I would have liked to use the P90 head as plenty of good things are said about them, but would compression would be on the low side for NA? I will be using fully programmable engine management so that is not an issue. Sorry if this is either basic or impossible, im still pretty new to the L6 game. Thanks
  2. Hi, Im just wondering when chasing a biggish power output motor, whether the 240 or 260 is mroe suitable. I have had the feeling that the 260 would be due to a stiffer chassis however the 240 has the weight advantage due to the not so stiff chassis. opinions? thanks
  3. I dont suppose anyone knows which part numbers for bosch H4's and bosch relays http://www.bosch.com.au/productcatalogue/sat/products/files/sealed_beam.pdf any reason why hella seems more popular?
  4. geez, car is looking nice! do you have a site listing spec's? Thanks
  5. Hi, Has anyone used some sort of rust prevention coating as the first layer during a bare metal respray? I was at a zed restoration place and they use an epoxy coating that supposedly adheres to the metal very well, sealing it/protecting it from future rust. Primers etc are then applied on top of this. Does anyone know of this and whether it is worthwhile or if there are alternative products on the market. thanks
  6. yup, i hear what you are saying 100% BUT as I have never personally done this sort of thing before AND i bought this car to be a fully engineered and registered road car, I would really need to be walked through the process in order to do things correctly. I dont know anyone well enough in this part of the industry to "take me under their wing" although i would be damn keen to do it myself if the chance was there.
  7. hey Well, i was looking at an r33 gtst front cut, so was considering using the front brakes that come with. Wont have to worry about that for the time being now though, went on a workshop tour on friday and was extremely disheartened at the cost of building this car, will have to take it much slower than planned. All the places i visited didnt recommend using the gtst brakes (or said they are unusable although i know they are, but how much customisation i dont know), most likely because they have their own off the shelf upgrades which they would rather sell... Im tempted to attempt a more backyard job but that will be a hastle come engineering time i think.

  9. Hi, Has anyone done this or know if it is possible/worthwhile? Since i plan to buy a r33 front cut for the rb25det, may as well use what i can? thanks
