You would be silly to go for a 30 year old T04 design when brand new GT30 and GT35's are around for such reasonable prices.
I would be thinking GT35 with a 0.82A/R housing for your power goals. It maybe not boost as early as you would hope (although the 0.82 over the 1.06 housing will help), but thats the cost of big power small capacity motors.
The ball bearing GT series will spool much faster than the T04 as well.
I dont have pics on this PC but they are similar to the CRS ones.
I think the problem was that the CRS ones I got were misaligned on whatever jig/fixture they use.
I'm using one too:
If anyone in Australia is looking to fit an RB to their Z's, I have a couple sets of mounts and sumps to do the job. They worked perfect with one of R.I.P.S RB30DET's as shown.
This is a question, not a criticism:
Considering the steel tube lining the transmission tunnel to support the OEM transmission mounting tabs and gearbox position, so you think the floor pan panel thickness is ok strength wise to be a suitable base to weld the new tabs onto further down considering the weight of the skyline gearbox?
Well, looks like the engine and box are going back in again for some more investigation.
From the looks of it moving the ears back an inch wouldnt seem to help as the box still seems pretty thick, perhaps trimming the ears back may do the trick, but structurally I am unsure.
Nothing is ever easy.
Great photos, that was what I was planning to do however the box doesnt appear to be fitting in between the ears.
The box used in those photos seems much narrower, is it an RB20DET box or definitely also an RB25DET box?
Here is a photo of mine I took, it is from the side so doesnt show the mounting issue but you get an idea of the sheer size of the thing:
Thanks
Has anyone fitted this box to their Z without cutting the car?
I have been having a tough time getting the box in as it seems to be too wide for the old gearbox mounting tabs/ears. I would prefer to get away without cutting them if possible but at this point I cant see how.
Thanks
These are only half the part numbers, the second half is missing which designates the model application.
If anyone has these could you please share.
Thanks
I would really like to but I am very quickly running out of time, I have full time work commitment through the week and only two weekends left.
I am also 2 hours by shinkansen (expensive) or 7 hours by JR ( i found out the hard way) from Tokyo.
I will endeavour to though.
hehe..of the few shops i have seen, no bag is big enough for the sort of items i want to carry home.
I will search for a website or email address for Tetsu Takakamo, my most limiting factor is my complete lack of japanese language skills.
Thanks
I have been here for 3 months and am returning on the 15th Dec.
The day I am leaving I will have a few hours in Tokyo, but I suppose not enough time for exploring unless this person is very close to a train station.
I have really left my Christmas shopping for myself too late i think.
After searching some more, I have found opinions that the 200ZR mounts are not ideal. The oil pan would still be a big cost saver for me though, depending on price.
Thanks for the detailed response.
Hi,
I know it was a JDM model and all, but I was just very curious that why all the people who have used these mounts/pans are from the states?
Do you have a ball park price?
Thanks
I am currently in Japan and I have been checking what used parts stores etc that i can as well as online and I cannot find 200ZR engine mounts or oil pans anywhere other than on a whole car.
My question is, how easy are they to find at wreckers in the US and how much would be an average price for both items?
I have family in the US at the moment who could bring them home for me.
The turbo 3.0 has torque, dont worry.
The 240Z/260Z is light and is RWD not FWD
You need to set your budget and work out how much labour you will do and how much you will be paying for.
Also check out autotrader.com and see how much good cars go for if there are any.
I would budget at least $30k to do it well with you doing a lot of the labour.
Yes, pistons, rods, the lot. All Nissan.
CR is 8.3:1
The RB30 blocks/pistons etc are the same between the RB30ET and RB30E as far as I have found, they should do just fine provided tuning is up to scratch. Depends on you power goal as stated though.
