You could always beef up the L28 a little and be faster then the SBC option
[ducks head while flames are ready to be thrown'] haha. Welcome to the board and good to have another East Coast Z'r. Good luck w/your project.
Hey wait a minute.......haha.

Damn I had the same problem with my old tranny and I believe ZFAN did too at one point. I yanked that B**** out of there and replaced it with a new one and higher stall and MAJIC happened!!! .5 in the 1/4 by just matching the convertor to my cam profile...

A couple of reasons, the weight is one and the heads are stock on the 396 so its def just a cruiser at this point. A decent set of heads would really light her up but BB heads AFR are like 3K plus!!!! Hell I can get a entire 383 short block for that. Dont get me wromg the BBZ is awesome and has a wow factor like no other but Id rather have that gravitational pull in the pants from a 383 with less weight and a little more room in the engine bay. I have always been an auto guy as well,,,something about touch and go and just hold on.
Other than that there is no reason really. However I may just swap a 454 in the future too....who knows! Having something rare and unique is also cool.

In my experience on the carb setting, I would not go beyond 7PSI. I had many problems will flooding by doing so. It likes 6 PSI all day but 7 is doable without any problems. Also I like the return regulator system much better than dead head. More work but better setup IMHO.

Well I wish i was home. I have a T56 that I will let go for a built 700R4. I just dont like manuals...getting to old I guess. Its in my BBC 396 Z. Well maybe it will be a better trade in 3 to 5 years lol.....it will be in storage at least that long......booo. Oh I may have the 396 complete with mounting cradle also for sale in the future.....I really want to put a 700R4 and 350 or 383 in her....

I currently have a 91' Cavalier Z24 which I built a turbo 3.1 V6 for. It currently generates 310 wheel HP at 7 psi and 425 wheel HP at 16 psi (and that was with a safe' date=' but pretty rough tune and higher rpm spark issues). I can run more boost on it, but there are several problems. 1.... I get around 3 trips too the track per tranny.... 2..... It's FWD.......
So, I'm looking into possible RWD chassis for my motor. I really want too keep the motor, it runs extremely well and I'm still not pushing it (not too mention I put a good deal of work into it...).
MY questions are....
1. What is the stock weight of the 240, 260, 280 z motors?
2. How much power will the stock rear end take?
3. How much if any frame work is required for higher HP engines?
4. has anyone installed a Chevy 60 degree (2.8/3.1/3.4) V6 in a Z before?
I'm asking because I'm considering several chassis, but the 240Z is at the top of my list for "best looking", but on the down side, there seem too be several running around with engine swaps, so trying too get some info too help me decide which chassis will require extensive modifications and which ones will not.[/quote']
Everything you need to know is here via the search, but bottom line is yes it can be done and the 240 is the lightest. Approximate times would be about 11.3/4s if you can put down at least 360 RWHP. Simple frame mods are suggested and the R200 LSD will hold up fine with CV axle conversion. I run 10s with 435ish RWHP and 11.9s with 310ish RWHP.
The Z24 would be a cool swap IMO. Go for it and take good notes to share!

Damn guys wish I was home. Im from San Angelo. I ran at Wall Dragway every month. I wanted to go to Abilene for the 1/8th but never did. Hey there is a blue 350Z twin turbo in Abilene that came down to Wall one weekend. We lined up three times and I wasted him each time....He did run a 12 though and that was pretty good considering he probably weighed 3700 pounds. When I get back we need to get a meet going....I may be back for a while next summer....

Question what rear end do these have and will the R200 fit? What about suspension? Interchangeable with the S30 parts? Solid frame in these right? Not unibody? Well its LS1 all the way anyway and maybe Supercharger for the wow factor although that RB26 must be totally awesome when sitting in there!

With that said, ON3GO a General Power of attorney would work for you! Have it delivered to Fort Worth and pick it up...just an idea but I need to find me one first!!!!
