  1. didnt know where to put this, but is anyone pushing over 600rwhp yet? id like to contact them if I could.. I have some questions.. and the motor doesnt matter..
  2. I went back and read the article on Todd Keneko's Z from super street, said he had a HKS dragger, it looks like a dragger, looks real good, so i went to find the article he had in turbo and it had the same thing, does anyone know if this is still available and from where?
  3. the 1jz can do it like a 2jz, all you need is a boost controller, a downpipe, cat back, fuel controller, intake and you can do 350rwhp no problem, to hit 400rwhp you'd need bigger injectors, a good intercooler, and a better Y-pipe made(the pipe connecting the turbos to the downpipe, the elbow) youd have to go 19psi and you couldnt do that all the time, a small to4 on the 1jz motor yeilds 400rwhp and with that you could do it all the time, the 7m takes a bit more work, it needs the upgraded turbo, a bigger to4, injectors, the lexus-afm upgrade or a vpc, and all the same stuff the 1j would need. Its not hard, if you read SF you know you can find me there, when you start the project or have more questions, pm me or e-mail me at Majik16106@yahoo.com
  4. best swap IMO for the mk2 supra (im a supra guy, i have a 1jz converted mk3) is the straight 7mgte, a stock 7m only needs a MHG and once put in an mk2, makes plenty of speed, im not sure the weight difference between the z cars and the mk2, but im sure the horepower to driveability ratio is probably about the same, if the car isnt beyond springs and shocks and sway bars suspension wise, both cars tend to get ridiculous about 400rwhp, friends have an mk2 with a 7m, does 411rwhp all day long, runs just fine, took a long time for him to get used it, but it moves violent fast, i toyed with the 7m idea,it would work great for a speed freak and it isnt expensive.
  5. Good to know, yah I went in a ride in a car last night that changed my whole way of thinking, i really think this is what ill do, or i might actually do a 7mgte swap, one of the two is going into a old z, i gotta clean the supra up a little then its go time ont he Z project.
  6. ok, i go out that way when i have races at RA, ill e-mail you or something next time ill be up there.
  7. Marietta, I dunno, let me know, i drive all around the Northern part of atlanta, smyrna, marietta, woodstock, etc..
  8. I just wish I could find something that would make the car insane fast on the road, but not insane hard to drive, i knwo its kind of a contradiction but every car has a perfect point, I cant seem to pin point it on the Z, with a heavily modded rear end, coil over suspension and roll cage the chassis is fine, I can put 17x11 with a 335 DR if I want. I drive a 400rwhp 3rd gen supra and it works great, i just wish I had a bit more torque, I was also thinking a 2jz with a smaller say sp57/60 turbo would be great too, I just love shooting around traffic, I would like th car to be super fast between say 30-100mph, but stay pretty straight. I dont care about running 10s or anything like that, I enjoy driving around. If i wanted to go 10s Id just do the GN swap, but id kill myself driving around on a street with that, besides, id much rather keep the manual trans...
  9. I have searched a bit and I cant actually find anything that describes what it feels like to drive a v8 240z, I was hoping someone could describe whats its like in a lt1 6 speed z car. You know, Can you down shift and shoot around traffic insanely fast? Throw you back in the seat real hard? are they impossible to keep straight? I dont wanna downshift mine on the highway and end up sliding around in circles? How difficult is it to actually drive?
  10. I just dont know about top end power, I really like the Lt-1 t56 swap as well, you know, darius changed my life, haha. I think the sr would work really well but like said above, if the turbo spools really violently then ill be all over the road in the middle of a gear, I think a lt1 with a small (8psi) supercharger might actually be more street friendly than a sr20det with a t67(which would be about the same power level as the sc lt-1.)
  11. 5spd came in the sc300 as well, in australia, its the one of the most commonly used trannies for swapped cars. VERY strong, all of the turbo'd sc300 and na-t supras use it, well most of them.
  12. that cant be true, Ive seen a 1jz swap in japan, using the r154, which is longer than the w58(the NA 5spd) but a little shorted than the v160 6spd, Im willing to bet the 6spd could be made to work, we would just fab up a shifter, no problem, just would need to be a wierd S shape type deal probably. im pretty sure its shorter than the ls1-t56 combo...
  13. well if your at all like me, if i had the money, id put the 2jz in with a 6spd, the most fun I have ever had in a car was a t78 6spd car, amazingly fun to drive.
  14. Ya, ive been modding cars for awhile, new to the old school z however. That was something else i was going to ask, doesnt anyone ever put in a mustang rear end?, I would think a 8.8 with some coil overs, a nice gear, would actually be pretty street friendly...
  15. no no, i disagree about the powerband, thats exactly why Id do the sr, why are s13's so popular for road racing/auto-x/drifting. Execellent handling, small agile car, badass powerband. With this project I wouldnt be aiming for 600rwhp, id be doing a small turbo upgrade (Ie T28) and that makes one hell of a smooth quick band. almost no Lag, good power. If i wanted something with huge power Id just do the Gn motor (another project ive considered, eventually id like to own both). IF you have never been around a BPU sr, your missing out, they feel great.
  16. I really think im going too, Ill let you know, if i buy a 240z in the next few months, thats what would be going into it. Have to see what happens with my supra first, I may fix it up and put some stuff on it, body kit, paint etc then start the sr s30 project.
  17. has anyone swapped in the sr20 yet? just curious why I dont see more of this being done? seems like it would be a nice swap. Im selling my 1jz supra, need to buy a daily driver, probably gonna get a 240z to be my weekend toy, and i was thinking this swap could be lots of fun.
  18. Undersized, the ct-26? i think not, noe of the best bang for the buck mods on a 7m is putting in a modded 57.trim ct26. If i owned a 7m powered car, thats the ONLY turbo Id put on, the r154 is practically bulletproff yes, but the 7m is far from it, a metal HG and some arp studs do hold stuff together but if you really thrash the car, that wont hold. 7m is laggy and slow revving, price is the only plus i can see for it, id rather throw a turbo'd ka24 in a 240z. It probably works better in the lighter datsun cars, but i dunno... I just never really liked that motor, i bought my supra knowing I would swap the engine out when i had the chance. And the stock Intercooler flows just fine, I dont know where you heard that the stock IC sucks on those cars, its the same one as the 1jz IC, and i made my 406 the stock IC.
  19. Thanks, i have been looking all over the internet for that, now i can finally print it out and keep it, that is so damn funny. "I'm shrugging with a sad look on my face, my wiener all floppy." That makes me cry everytime i read it.
  20. " That's not what I had in mind" Sorry guys, couldnt resist the quote.
  21. i tried looking at ur site for pics, didnt see any. I thought about doing that, its just i dont want a whole flared read panel like blue oval has, i like the style in the pictures above, where it comes off the stock panel. those up there are plenty big enough, id just like to get a 16 or 17x9/9.5 on it to run some 255 or 275 tires.
  22. I didnt see flares like that. or a front end that matched big front flares like one has, with the gt air foil. Anything that looked half way like that wasnt that big either, maybe i missed it, can someone post a pic of MSA stuff that matches that, cuz im not seeing it?
  23. Dont know what I was thinking, ur right its not in mm, but now i cant remember what that wierd measurment is... I know the back is a 690 something.. hmm...
  24. 550, seems kinda low, I have a lot of experience with Supra's, i know 3rd and 4th gens with my eyes closed. Im kind of weary of 7m's, Why is the person selling? or is it like overstock/old stock at a garage? Any proof the motor is good. 7m Common Problems: Spun bearing head Gasket Boost Leaks/surging Just be careful, and if you have any questions feel free to ask, Supras and esepcially 3rd gens are my specialty(seeing as I have owned a few) I had a 7m car pushing near 450rwhp, and right now my 1jz makes 406rwhp on the stock twins.
