Well since we're on that topic, what exactly is considered too "hot"? My Z constantly runs around 80C-85C (176F-185F) when I keep forward progress often enough, but once I sit in traffic for a little too long it'll start climbing into the 90C's, it once got to 99C and I was about to shut the car down and what for the green, but the light finally turned and my poo returned to my inner rectum. I've really contemplated upgrading the radiator. Its always been my understanding that anything 100C or more is bad news.

Sure didn't, but I'll try to explain the best I can. Luckily the way they're designed makes it very easy to just measure and drill. Without the rails, it has 4 seperate squarish tabs that each has its own pre-tapped hole. Either way, each of those tabs measure about 4-5 in long and 2-3 wide. Its really convenient for mounting rails that aren't made for those seats.

Well gentlemen the 944 seats are in and my lower back couldn't be happier. Installation isn't hard at all and anyone who knows their way around a drill and a sawzall could knock this out in a day. As far as mounting goes, you'll need to drill in 3 different spots of the seat mounts in the car. Luckily for me, the holes I needed were already drilled by god knows who. But the most important part is that ONLY 3 of the 944's seats mounts will be able to be drilled into the car's stock mounts. On both of my seats, the inner rear seat brackets stuck out past the car's stock mount. In other words, the seats mounts or wider that the car's mounts. However, the front 2 mounts are easy to measure and drill, then you can do the same for one of the rear mounts. I chose to you the outer rear mounts. Then for the inner rear mounts, I simply cut a piece of straight steel, drilled one hole to mount to the car, then another to mount to the seat. Takes a little trial and error, but nothing any of you guys couldn't tackle. Now for pics! They look right at home! P.s. Sorry for the cell phone pics, wifey mispalced my camera in her cleaning spree. All in all, the price to get these thrown in were just $100 for the seats. I had a drill and sawzall laying around as well as some spare steal. So far I love the way they feel. I only wish I could've gotten the turbo version seats with the bigger bolsters.

Hello, looking for a pair of turn signals for my '72 Z. Would like to get the complete assemblies: lenses/housings/wiring etc. Lenses don't have to be in the greatest shape but would prefer good shape housings. Thanks!

I was very interested in these wheels at one point. Then someone pointed how "fake" the concave on the spokes and I realized what he meant. The spokes bow out from the barrel and THEN concave in. Maybe I'm being a stickler, I like them alot except for the bow out spoke design.

Finally got me a decent pair of seats. They're black leather with a sort smooth cloth material. We'll see how mounting goes.

Yup, I was really considering the Eclipse seats. I think I'm gonna make a run by the junkyard today and see if I find any goodies.

After hours and hours of researching here and craigslisting locally, I've gotten a few cars I'm gonna be looking for when I visit the junk yard this weekend for some seats to get rid of these awful no name reclinable bucket seats I have. On my list is such as: -late 80s-early 90s CRX seats. I found a NICE pair on craigslist. But the guy wanted $400 for the pair. I wanted to cuss him out. -Porsche 924/944 seats. Friend of mine has a 944 and I sat in the seats and immediately thought, "I muse have this". -Miata seats. Seems to be popular around here and a good fit. -1st generation Eclipse seats. I found a pair for $50 in awesome condition, but I'm worried about them sitting too high. -80s era 3-series BMW seats. Might as well try to be ambitious? What other cars would you guys recommend me keep my eyes open for specifically? Other than seats I'm pretty much looking for anything else that could be at helpful with the Z. Who know what I'll find! I'm weirdly excited, Arizona has huge junkyards and so many of em.

Wowzers that's crazy. Can't wait to see what cool stuff may be laying in there. I want some cool seats or something but I live far away.

Excuse my ignorance, but is it missing runners? I've seen a HKS surge tank before but it didn't quite look like that. I love rare parts

That image is nearly 2 years old. Not saying he amassed that colelction in just 2 years, but google's stuff is a few years old most of the time. But on topic, I think this is an excellent idea no matter if you or him make profit off it, good parts are hard to come by, especially some the rarer ones. I found a similar yard like that here in Arizona, the guy had about 9-11 junkers just sitting there but the ******* didn't want to part a single thing from them even though it was clear they'd been sitting for years upon years. Maybe get the guy's permission to take closer pictures of individual cars/parts and get us some prices. That'd be awesome!

I've been watching the rad fluid pretty closely lately after I just drained the system to install a water temp sensor. I've pretty sure I've burped all the bubbles out of the system, but sometimes when I check the radiator fluid again after a day or 2, the level is slightly lower than when I topped it off. Like maybe a 1/4 a cup of water needs to be added to top off and that's it, so I'm wondering if I'm slowly burning coolant, or I'm still getting air out of the system. Weirdly enough, it didn't smoke at all this morning on the way to work. I'm contemplating just changing the headgasket anyways. I have to change the valve cover gasket and the oil pan gasket, so I was considering completing the trifecta and just knocking that out too for peace of mind. Only thing is that I've never done a HG change before. Makes me nervous even though I head its easy on our L28's. I think I may take off that intercooler pipe and try to clean it off better then check it again a few days later and see how it looks. Anyone else got an opinion on the matter?
-
I've searched some and I'm looking to re-confirm what I think may already be my problems before I go digging into something else. Lately my L28ET has been giving out a little white smoke. It always gave a good size puff on start up, but would quickly go away when warmed up. Now I've been noticing when I'm stopped at some intersections, I see white smoke coming out of the exhaust. Its not overwhelming, but noticeable. Also, I've noticed alot of black "spots" on my driveway behind the car's exhaust which looks alot like really small spots of oil, as if the car is shooting oil out the exhaust upon starting. And the last piece of evidence, a couple of days ago when I took my intercooler piping off for a repaint, I noticed the pipe coming straight from the turbo to the intercooler was coated with oil in the inside, but none of the other pipes in the system had any signs of oil, only that one pipe coming straight from the turbo. So with that said, would I be correct to assume my turbo may need rebuilding, and its not my head gasket going bad? This is my first time personally coming face to face with this problem, so my assumptions only come from research and what I've read. So a little more reassuring would be awesome. The turbo is a ITS SH 60-1 (Innovative Turbo Systems). One last question, I don't have an oil catch can set up into my system either, would having one be a great benefit also?

I will keep you in mind, no more spending for me until payday next Wednesday. Thanks for the heads up though.

Nope sorry, I have a '72.

So I found out today why my driver's side lock can't be unlocked by the key from the outside, I'm pretty sure the key doesn't match which works perfectly on the passenger's side. I'd like to buy the driver's side and key at the very least, but I wouldn't mind buying BOTH the driver's and passenger's to have a matching set. Thank you!

I bought a new air dam, headlight covers, Nardi wheel...a week before I even picked up my Z. Its also my DD and I bought it to take to Japan with me in 2011. I <3 it.

I know you're asking for caps only, but I'm selling a new 15/16 79-81 280ZX brake master cylinder.
-
I hear ya, I was pissed, I soooooo had my heart set on those black argyle style ones. They even had some old school Recaro style knob adjusters on the side. Coolest thing ever, I couldn't even find information about them on Google! haha

I'm going to check out some 944 seats sometime this week I believe. I'll keep you guys updated on if I get a pair and the process I go through of mounting. On a slightly different incident, today I rolled by what I though was a junk yard with like 8 Z's in it, 2 of them had some super awesome diamond in the rough seats. One was absolutely covered in dust and sand, and upon one quick hand swipe, they were red leather!!! No tears, just dusty and dirty. Then another Z had a black leather with cloth middle inserts that had some kind of black/red/white argyle-ish pattern to it. I wanted both sets so bad, but turned out it wasn't a junkyard, but someone's actual "yard", and the guy didn't want to sell them even though they'd obviously been sitting there for years. I was pissed. BTW, my sig picture was taken outside of his "lot" lol.

Have any of you guys heard of or have installed 944 seats in your Z's? I believe they came in other models too (i.e. 924 and so on). Just wondering how much effort was needed to make their seats brackets work for a 240Z. Also wondering if you guys would know some places to maybe find a pair. I've check ebay and tried some Porsche forums and not much luck. And last thing, is there any Miata seat install write ups around here? I'm gonna search for it and see what I get.

Throw some interior and engine shots up too. Good luck with your Scoob.
-
Yes that's true, it wears off. But maybe that spray on suede protectant stuff would help?
-
Depends on what your existing interior mods are, then choose a good looking wheel to match with what you've got going on. I've always been a Nardi fan. Their classic woodgrains ones are nice, but my favorite by far is the Deepcorn 330mm in suede, mmmmmhmmmmm.
