  1. Ooook I think I follow you now, pretty much you created 8mm plexiglass rings. That's also a very good idea. What'd you use to cut the plexi?
  2. That looks great, that's what I'm aiming for once I get the chance to install mine. I'm still not quite following how you did that though. You cut out a 60mm circle of plexiglass, then glues it to the gauge hole, then put the prosport gauges behind it?
  3. Recently came up off a decent deal for some mint 52mm black GReddy gauges, oil temp, oil pressure and boost for a solid price. Amidst my shopping to buy the missing sensors and harnesses I got to thinking if any of you cool cats have the same set up I'm looking to install? I was mainly just wanting to see some install pics, not expecting it to look super amazing, but I think it's a slightly more modern and tasteful update. I know our gauge "holes" are 60mm, so I was wondering what ideas you guys had for filling that 8mm gap. I read that someone used some black PVC piping to fill the gap which is what I'm thinking of doing. However, mounting those 3 gauges in that location leaves me with one obvious and unanswered question, what to do with my fuel gauge?! I already have a place to mount an aftermarket gauge since my stock one is a bit wonky right now. I haven't done the research yet, but how difficult is it to get an aftermarket fuel gauge installed and working with a 240Z? I'm going to take a poke around the threads here and see what comes up, but I'm just wondering if there's any plug n play gauges for us. And lastly, what do you guys considering the "correct" way of splicing wires? I'm referring to when I have to splice the 3 gauges. The way I've always done it is that I strip a small part of the insulation of the wire I'm splicing into, then take the end of the wiring joining it and wrap i around a few times, solder it, then wrap in electrical tape. Also which power wire should I tap into? Tapping all the gauges to one power wire should be fine right? But should I join them in all at one point or wire them a few inches apart? I'm gonna have to do that for the power, ignition and light source. Sorry for the multiple questions, but I'd like to do it right the first time with this car.
  4. I too have one of the louvered inspection lids, and in the Arizona heat of the day at a stand still, I can visibly see little heat waves rising from both my 280Z hood and the inspection lids. What are you wrapping your intercooler pipes in, heat wrap I'm assuming?
  5. Forza is a good game no doubt about it, I play it in the absence of GT5. But that being said, you just can't beat the king. They haven't been postponing it just to piss off the world, they're taking their time and paying a huge ton of attention to detail. Everyone always whines about how long they're taking to finally release, but truth be told we'll be playing it the day it hits shelves.
  6. November's gonna be a great month for games. The new Assassin's Creed and new Modern Warefare come out. Ofcourse GT5 will be at the top of my list and shiny new Logitech wheel will be strapped to my desk.
  7. Still sticking by my comment since you can't get S15's in America. For most 240 sack riders that car is just a wet dream. Promise you 240SX's popular from drifting period, not because Tokyo Drift. That movie only came about because of the whole explosion of drifting popularity. I wonder how the 510 relates to being Bumblebee though, I couldn't see him being anything but the Camaro in these movies. I wonder who's that 458 Italia though!
  8. Drifting made 240sx's popular, not Fast and Furious. Those would be Skyline's lol I don't see this making the 510 that much more popular, for car people like us, we know how cool the 510's are. But for your everyday Joe Schmoe, I'm sure they'll just think its some old rust bucket.
  9. I wouldn't imagine it'd be that hard. Clamp, then unclamp, rotate, clamp again.
  10. I don't think you can dye black seats any other color than black again. Speaking of, black seats don't really look too much out of place in any interior color scheme. I had black/grey Porsche 944 seats in my red interior, doesn't stick out at all really.
  11. I got to see it before the link went nutso. Managed to find a few pics on google that are nearly identical to the link.
  12. As long as you have the NRG or equivalent quick release set up, that just goes over the stub that's left when you disconnect your steering so that some other joe schmoe can't come along and hook up their steering wheel and drive off with your car. Me and my friends used to play pranks on each other all the time since 3 or 4 of us had quick release set ups. We'd either switch our steering wheels into someone elses car or completely hide the steering wheel somewhere lol.
  13. Hmmm, I'm definitely thinking I may be losing my IMSA wing this baby when it's ready for sale. Excuse my ignorant question, but what method will be used in securing the wing down to the hatch?
  14. I'm sure someone a bit more knowledgeable will step in, but try taking off your door panel and look at your lock mechanisms. Lock and unlock your door while you're watching it to get an idea on how the mechanism work, it should be fairly simple. If I remember right I had the same issue, except I couldn't lock my doors from the inside and I just looked at how it worked and fixed, but it was a real pain fitting my hands in the tight door spaces.
  15. Funny, I said the exact samething before I even clicked to enlarge the picture. DAMN!
  16. Where'd you get the ABS plastic from? What'd you use to cut it? Are there any other strong materials you might've used?
  17. One thing I was always wondered, do you guys have noticeable amount of lag with all that piping? I was wanting to go with another same sided intercooler to replace my Porsche one but have always considered the set ups you guys have. Just seems like there's a ton of piping involved.
  18. I'd have to say pass...but just because I'm fairly used to seeing how much they for in Japan Looks like a sweet candidate for a engine swap though!
  19. Yea I've come to realize that too, one of the biggest problems, namely Cusco, is that their front coilovers are usually thicker than the rears. I tried asking people who had some the Cusco models but none of them ever got back to me on measurements on the inside diameter on their lower mounts.
  20. Its not so much a problem of that, its just that I parts shop out of bordem and buy other stuff that isn't so expensive lol. I'm still hoping to find a slight used set, $1250 is close to Cusco and JIC territory.
  21. Yup from what I understand when I talked to their representative, its basically like ordering a set of S13 coilovers but they'll just include the conversion tubes in place of the lower mounts. It might be a while until I get them, but I'm trying to save up for em.
  22. The coilover adaptor tubes, the S13 coilovers minus the lower mounts that they would usually come with them. IIRC they're fron camber plates only.
