  1. I hope these are good words or wisdom to go by. I've flipped out when my digital gauge got up to 100C in traffic, I guess that wasn't really so bad after all. I constantly sat at 85ish with good air flow.
  2. Yea I'm a retard, totally read past that part. What was your camera mounted to? One time I strapped mine to my rear view mirror with zip ties and rubber bands and it turned out well. Did it once on a harness bar and it also come out good.
  3. The only reason I'd consider Stance over the AZC is price alone IF they will sell their coilovers with the conversion tubes in place of the S13's lower mounts. I agree it'll be useless to buy the kit plus the tubes to replace hardware I have no use for because then the total price would be more than AZC's set up. Stance products are every bit if not more (considering the range of applications) proven as the AZC kits. I've yet to hear someone knock Stance's performance and quality. Another one BIG contributer is the fact that you can find a good condition used set for less than $1000. I plan to go with a new set, but if a good deal came along on some used ones I wouldn't hesitate to jump on them. Either way I'll never have Megan's touch my car and I'm not too much a fan of GC set up, whether it be out of ignorance or not, I just like the idea of a coilover being manufactured together rather piecing together parts. So I'm not knocking Dave's set up, but $400 is $400 I can make good use of and put elsewhere. The Stance's come with camber plates too. I believe Iheartogue meant to say $1200-$1600, $3600 is way too ridiculous lol. And btw carjway make sure to let us know what they say about the bolt in camber plates. I have no idea how they'll pull it off, but that'll be too sweet. If you call em ask them about replacing the lower mounts with the conversion tubes too! I sill haven't gotten an email back from them yet.
  4. Just a thought, maybe you should throw something over the inside of the doors just in case in some freak accident the glass shatters you won't get blasted in the eye with glass particles.
  5. Their units usually come with camber plates regardless. So hopefully they can cut the cost down and make it possible to buy their units with just the tubes and not make me buy the lower mounts that won't work. Perhaps it'll still be $1200ish, one can only hope!
  6. I'm sure they'll sell it with camber plates since most of their units do.
  7. So after shooting major blanks on trying to find anyone who makes lower mounts, I decided to shoot Stance an email to ask them about their lower mounts and see if the fronts are steel and if they could just send me 4 front steel ones if they were, and send them along with one of their coilovers sets. Here's the email word by word so far.... Hello, I'm interested in purchasing a set of your GR+ coilovers with a S13 application to modify to fit a 240Z. However I have a few questions I have to know to determine if they'll work with what I need. Are the lower mounts on the front coilovers steel or aluminum? Also could you please provide me with the measurement with the inside diameter on the lower mounts for the fronts? Basically I need the front mounts to be steel and have roughly 2 inches of inside diameter to be able to make them work with the 240Z's forged shock tube design. If they do fit, I'd need 2 extra front lower mounts to replaced the rear lower mounts, granted that all 4 corners have the same inside diameters. Look forward to hearing your response, thank you. Hi, We have just developed a special DIY weld-on tube for spindle type cars to use our dampers. I will send you pictures and dimensions shortly. Thanks Wow! Thanks extremely great news. Looking forward to see what you guys got worked up. If you don't mind I can share that with some of the other Z guys on one of the forums I frequent once I get some more info. Thanks. Hi, The tube is about 6inches tall. Bottom opening is 2inches (ID). This tube will fit our GR+, AL+ dampers. It is made of steel. MSRP is $229/pair Thank you Amazing, is there a possibility of ordering a set a GR+ with these tubes replacing the front and rear the lower mounts since I wouldn't be able to use the traditional lower mounts that come on the S13 assemblies? If so, would it also be possible to order a set without the front camber plates? If any of this is possible, please give me a price with the following options so I can place an order. Thanks so much. Lastly, here's a picture of the tube and their coilovers. This is amazing news for me, Stance's reputation has been building like a rocket in terms of performance and quality. I'd take these any day over Megan's. hopefully we can order coilovers with all 4 tubes to replace the lower mounts that come with S13's and keep the cost reasonable.
  8. I wouldn't sell it for the fact that 240sx's are a dime a dozen now. I actually sold my S14 AND my IS300 afterwards to get my Z and its by far the most attention getting and rewarding car out of the 3. And my previous cars had a decent amount of money put into them. I want a daily driver though, not for creature comfort, but for guilt of putting the Z through daily driving duties.
  9. I might've missed it, but are those Megan's the street or track versions?
  10. Thanks for all the info guys. I have one more nit picky question just to make sure I'm understanding right. Is registering it as a classic the same thing as wanting to register it as a car for everyday use? I thought antique was the one that limits how much you can use it. Is the only difference between registering as a classic or as a daily driver the amount I pay for registration? I'm not so much as a stickler on the plates as much as I want to avoid emissions. So to get it approved for everyday use, only the safety inspection is needed correct? I think I'm good to go on everything besides not having a horn, which I believe someone somewhere may make an easy to install horn kit.
  11. Well I pray to god they don't change it before I get the chance to get it registered and looked at. Thanks guys.
  12. Good god that's the best car "show" I've ever seen! No unnecessary rice b/s, just some really really tasteful looking cars. That clear "ram air" box on that gunmetal Z is soooooooooo cool.
  13. Sooo as the title eludes to, I'm wanting to register my Z in my legal state of residence sometime late this year/early next year when I get to take leave from here overseas. I did some googling and searches on here, and to this thread: My linkhttp://forums.hybridz.org/index.php?/topic/32137-texas-emissions/page__p__252563__hl__register%20texas__fromsearch__1&&do=findComment&comment=252563 ...to register it as a classic, it only needs a visual inspection, no emissions needed. That thread is a few years old, can any of you guys confirm that the visual inspection only rule is still in effect? Could I ask get a SOLID list of things they'll check? From what I've read they check the common sense stuff. All working lights, mirrors, turn signals, wipers and well.....horn, which I don't have, so hopefully they won't be anal over that. Tried to get my wife to give the DMV a call, but they put her on hold and hung up on her twice. She quickly lost interest. Thanks fellas.
  14. Check it out fellas, this it what I was referring to as far as gold reflective tape. http://www.hrpworld.com/index.cfm?form_prod_id=5325&action=product
  15. Most interesting fellas, appreciate the ideas. Also I was considering what other options I had as far as getting another manifold all together. When I bought the car it came with "custom" one that I honestly can't see how it could flow too much better than stock (in regards to shape) except for the fact that it could push and contain more air. Picture of it in the for sale before I got it: I cleaned up the engine bay a bit before I left to be stationed overseas, but I would think something more rounded would flow nicer than something that rectangular. And yup, the welds on all the corners look good, but the welds next to the throttle body, not so much lol. I still need to do something with all the tacky wiring, eeeeesh.... Before I left it I got a DEI turbo blanket for it and noticed quicker spool from that alone, but I was really going for lower under hood temps. I noticed your location is Tucson. I was stationed there 3+ years and never seen you around!
  16. During my Saturday afternoon bordem I got to thinking about how my exhaust manifold and turbo being right under the intake manifold is probably heating it up quite a bit. Have any of you guys ever dabbled in the idea of my spraying heat reflective paint over the intake manifold or atleast putting that gold heat reflective material on the bottom of it? Something along those lines, I'm just curious to see if anyone's experimented with it and noticed anything from cooler intake temps or even increased MPG/power.
  17. As a former 240sx owner, I'd say you'd be lucky to get atleast 2 of them to pony up for a set. They (me during that time too) are cheap by nature lol.
  18. 25 is alot of people, especially for $1800+ a set I'm sure they'll ask for.
  19. Hmmm I dunno, I'm still kind of on the fence about these still. Looking forward to see how they look on other Z's. I don't think they complement that red Z's rather stock looking body and ride height.
  20. I too have felt the wrath of elderly woman driver's, on July 4h too. This old bag was such a complete ***** and completely uncooperative. She absolutely refused to give me her insurance info and swore up and down that I was the one who hit her. So I called the police and FORTY FIVE MINUTES LATER I finally see a cop pull into the parking lot one row over and the jackass drives right past us while talking on his cell phone. My favorite part was her claiming she had health problems and etc. whilst we explained to her if she just gave us her insurance information we could move along. But she refused refused and refused some more. Even after the cart wrangler guy came over and testified against her and the manager came out she still refused. Also for a little leverage just incase she wanted to press home the health problem issue, my buddy snapped this picture of her smoking. Nice. And here's the kicker, once she finally forked over her insurance information, she had just got insured THAT day!
  21. Ah yes that does make sense, I've lived in the South/Southwest by whole life so I would've never thought of that.
  22. If you have some relatives that are keeping it that you trust enough, have them at the minimum warm the car up to operating temps ever so often and if have them take it around the block if you have faith in them.
