  2. How easy will a AFM get damaged from a backfire (intake)? I read in another thread that it will only take a few backfires to damage one. My car is a stocker '77, with a issue of backfireing a off ide pull till 2500ish. Also what would constitute an adjustment (adjusting the gear one tooth over) of the AFM ? Thanks in advace

  6. Ok, DK, here is my issue. I drove my car for the first time since 1999. The car runs truly great. BUT it will protest/backfire at the intake from a standing roll to about 2500 after that it's smooth as silk. I've the gas tank draiing and tune up. I tend to feel it's a lean issue. Is the TPS the ONLY thing it can be? Also that plug on the side of the AFM for the mixture setting its it that important? I'm missing mine. Will it allow air in without it ? Thanks
  7. Super Job, Cruez. Really looks great.

  10. Hummm !!!! I notice this little section on his site I was looking at upgrading my system, but from what he wrote ...why bother ?. I have a '77 with 77 tech. Is there a noticable differents on a street driven Z's? Or better yet who here at this board has a 280Z, with an upgraded system that really runs better? Most of the ppl I read here have upgrades on 76 and earlier Z's

I tried tapping on the starter ( aka Chevy, style ) But still a no go. It looks like I'll be go for a starter here first. I'll let you all know how it turns out.

  15. I have a little issue that I'm trying to track down, on my '77 Z. When I hook up my battery I noticed I have a power being drawn. I found out, with the ignition off and the battery hooked up that my voltmeter is registering, I'm trying to track down why (hopefully with out ripping out the entire dash. Any ideas ?
  16. Thanks SleepyZ. I can relate to resonation. Thanks for the input.
  17. Has anyone heard or have a Z with a chamber exhaust installed? I am looking at sound quality I might be installing one on my Z down the road. My friend that specializes in Z cars, call me over to see one of his clients cars. It had the 3 carb setup with a header and some engine work done, but the muffler he installed was a 3 chamber FlowMaster, it was installed midway between the seats, not at the back and in a nut shell it sounded AWESOME. V-8 AWESOME. I remember the chamber muffler I installed on my Vette, and was always told, that the sound was incredible. OBTW, when I say chamber exhaust I'm referring to the 1969 Camaro style chamber muffler. (They look like straight glasspacks with out the glass, and there are 4 pinches on the side.) Summit p/n SUM-630722. If you want to see a pic of one.
