  1. Update- ordered my oil lines and T3 turbo rebuild kit. They should come in early next week. I'll post up the turbo rebuild on this thread.
  2. So the Digital cluster will have to wait.. apperently I need the dash harness too. oh well.. however the valve cover is finally done heres a pic.. and since I ran out of distractions I need to get back to the turbo swap.. still need some misc pieces..
  3. Grids was almost in impulse buy.. And I was having a slightly hard time finding something nice on a budget.. Eventually I'll get something better but it's good for now. Boost gauge I'll probably replace with something nicer on the A-Pillar.. But in due time. The prosport one is crap anyways.
  4. WHAT:Nor Cal South Bay Old School Import Meet WHERE:3605 El Camino Real, Santa Clara CA (Starbuck's parking lot) WHEN:Last Thursday of EVERY month 7pm until whenever Usually a pretty good turn out as far as attendance. I'd like to see more z's show up tho. So Anyone with a Z in the sf bay area come over and check out what other people got. The next meet is next week Thursday. I hope to see some of the hybridz members show up.
  5. The 10th Ann has been decommissioned a long time ago. Frame was beyond any help. I'm getting the digital cluster sometime this week so I'll be installing that as well as changing the color of the display to something else besides green.. Well see how that goes. That'll be posted up when it's done
  6. So, some random stuff I overlooked. My recently purchased headlight covers. And, my prosport vacuum/boost gauge (boost is really useless right now, but later..ohh sweet boost) Heres the install the mock up I diddnt like the silver trim and had plenty of pink from the valve cover left over sooo... then roughly cutting out the mounting hole and the installed product And no mine is not a 10th ann. but its a nice touch haha
  7. Link to the group buy? I can't seem to find it.. O_o Yeah, the rb's are pretty played out but most people keep them the factory color.. If I do get some, repainting is the first thing I'm gonna do... Oh the choices of colors
  8. The alloys are retarted, i got the pair at pick n pull for $40 but some one drilled out the the holes for the studs to some unknown pattern so the don't work otherwise they'd be on allready. Link to the group buy? They aren't rota rb's are they?
  9. I'll do it if you do it, you're closer to chevy 350 vtach than me.. Weird inbred affair with the rsx?
  10. Do it! Haha pricewise it's about the same a 240sx just older, parts might be a bit cheaper tho, if you can find them that is. Good torquey motor, just don't make the mistake of getting an NA like I did, turbos are waaaayy better.
  11. Relax dude, This is just my current set up. Like I said, s13 coilovers are planned in the near future. I'm running tokicos because they're an easy upgrade over the stock shocks. And I was not adventurous enough to do the s13 swap just yet. Btw I haven't had any problems taking dips and or bumps running the tokicos with the stock cut springs. This is a build thread, there will be more work done on the car. I still have the turbo swap to finish, suspension will be after.
  12. @ purepontiackid it's low enough for me right now, planning on running modified s13 coilovers later. I scrape my airdam on the driveway, and by no means is it steep haha. Pick up an airdam and you'll see what I mean @meph Not a big fan of spacers, I'm still kicking myself for being hasty with the rims but oh well, I'd actually like some 16x9 0 offset. I think that should be perfect, maybe even a little negative. Any ideas?
  13. That was a fun day haha Epic come out on top win.
  14. Thanks, sure I can do one, let me finish this one first.. I've been procrastinating finishing it lately haha should be done in about a week or two, I'll show you the finished result.. This one is more or less an experiment.
  15. Right, so I picked up my 280zx about two years ago and thought I'd show everyone how it has progressed since then. This is when i first picked it up, neglected and sitting for 5years behind my shop I work at. When I got to it, it was running on 4 cylinders and needed some good 'ol TLC. On the plus side, the motor was rebuilt at a nissan dealer and is in great running order. Me spending some late nights fixing the car at work.. rest assured the long hair is long gone hahaha This was the first time I drove the Z, I already have cut the springs at this point, good drop, barely clears speed bumps. sorry no before and after pics. My buddy picked up a 10th ann 280zx a couple months later with the hopes of restoring it, but uppon further inspection of the frame rails we gave up all hope. It came with a what the original owner called a "custom" airdam upgraded swaybars and chastain louvers. So I swooped on all the goodies and we parted the rest. By now the car had a complete tune up, all the fluids replaced and I picked up an MSA intake This is after I put the new airdam on my car. A little photo shoot we did with the old crew I was in. I have picked up an MSA wing and MSA exhaust. This is how it stayed for a while. Ive also put a kenwood deck and the faceplate MSA sells Hid's Before and after, 6k bulbs on the headlights and 3k on the fogs The most recent upgrade was new rims! Rota Grid Offroad 16x8 4x114.3 lug pattern +10 offset with 3mm spacers in the front to clear the strut. this was the initial test fit.. and this is with the spacers and DD status. So this has been everything up till now. now for the current project. As of now im in the process of building my N/A-T set up. Ive picked up all the hard to find bits digging through pick n pulls, raiding craigslist, and the help of the classifieds section on this forum. L28et manifold, airesearch s130 stock T3 turbo, and J pipe, i also have (not pictured) downpipe, turbo oil pan, and sanwich block for the oil cooler. plans are to start with the stock set up running megasquirt and go from there. Ive still got plenty of reading to do on megasquirt and the tuning involved, so thats in the not so distant future. A side project I have going is my attempt at an artistic valve cover. I've seen cherry blossom valve covers before but not on the Z's, so I figured id give it a shot. keep in mind I diddnt want to spend hundreds of dollars of custom airbrushing at a shop and doing this in my spare time while I piece togather the rest of the turbo swap. cleaned and sanded couple layers of white for the base Scetched out the design and the begining of the desing begins Thats pretty much it for now, I'll keep this updated as much as I can, but I'll leave you some nice pics to gaze at until more is done to the car.
  16. switching from an analog gauge cluster to a digital is a straight swap on the 280zx's right?
  17. Looking for a digital gauge cluster for a 280zx in good condition and working. Also looking for "JDM" "Fairlady 280z" emblems oe or repros for the 280zx Pm or email me @ jdmb310@gmail.com
  18. Turboing the na motor is very feasible.. I'm doing the slow process of getting all the parts.. The na l28 can easily handle stock boost ~7psi. It would probably be cheaper to swap to turbo and build from there.. Doing intake and porting along with head work like you said would most likely be more expensive than boost.. I'm piecing together the stock turbo parts and I'm only spending about $1500 for every thing, most expensive being megasquirt. I suggest dig around this forum and plenty of reading, there's plenty of good info on aftermarket modifications for the l series.
  19. Why is it that I've seen this commercial a million times an never noticed it? Nice tho.. I want
  20. There's quiet a few people that would give their shiny nickel for the center section... It's neat.. But not my thing
  21. Sweet ok.. Only if it's packed in bubble wrap an popcorn haha I'll paypal you sometime today, I'll pm you when I do with my address too
  22. Looking for the audible warning box for a 280zx has to be working. Even better if someone has or know if someone who has a Japanese language voice box. Let me know, I miss bitchin Betty haha
  23. N/A build taking a bit longer than expected..

  24. I'm not sure about the un-liked part. I get plenty of double takes and compliments on my 280zx, and it still has the crappy exterior! True they're not as sought after as s30's but I like my black sheep, it different. I've actually allways wanted an s30 but ended up with mine and I can't complain. As far as the bond work and color matching interior and the neon paint job? Not my thing. I know for sure if you come around my neck o the woods with something like that youll get laughs everywhere you go... I think I'd die from embarrassment. But hey, if you're content with what you do to your car and can drive it around with all your dignity intact then more power to you.
