  1. I was looking at the Jim Wolf website at the ECU's, when i came upon something curious, they said that the new ECU removes the speed limiter? I was under the impression that my n/a s130 was just slow, or do these car actually come with speed limiters in the states? I've heard of them being used in japan and elsewhere. Anyone have an answer?
  2. theres so many holes in the description when you break it down into details. The claims in the 1/4 mile? NOS? you can make the slowest car do a decent 1/4 with enough spray, probably blow it up in the process tho. And with a motor that was built for what is claimed as a race motor theres some things that look.. well, unprofessional or questionable.. silicone head gasket? How well does that work? Has anyone tried this? It beats having to resurface the head and spend the $15 on a new gasket. Just like the radiator fix junk you put in the coolant and the block fix. All wonderful products PROVEN to extend engine life and reliability. the claims are ambitious to say the least.
  3. Closer and closer to boost

  4. out of all seriousness, i haven't seen many 1/4 mile built 280zx's, at least to the extent of the s30 chassis, let alone using a motor that was offered in the car. True some of the claims do sound way too good to be true, an easy solution to that? VIDEO! kind of surprised that for a 280zx that is as fast as claimed, would not have a nice bragging rights video attached or even a dyno sheet.
  5. Doing a turbo swap on my s130. Need the factory T3 turbo, nothing modded or aftermarket for the sake of the swap being as painless as possible, Obviously has to be in good condition ie little to no shaft play and has to actually turn. Downpipe will be nice to, but i can modify the msa one if i have to. Let me know if anybody here has one, any leads will be good too. Thanks In advance.
  6. the stock axles will safely handle 800hp, and no, the read end doesnt need any further reiforcement.
  7. What really grinds my gears RX8 oil filters, VW passat tierod ends, RX7's with pistons, RX7's without pistons, L28's missing a second cam. L28's non crossflow head design, the lack of love in the aftermarket for the s130, how the 20 different american car manufactures are essentially 3, how every country except the US get all the nice cars.
  8. hey fricfrac, whats the dimensions on the rims? ie, width, offset? youre just mocking me with those pictures! haha really love the car, definately will look much better with the airdam.
  9. sooo jealous fricfrac, if only mine was as clean as yours! haha one day..
  10. Rota "grid offroad" 16x8 +10 offset 3mm spacers in the front, really should run 5mm spacers since i rubbed the rim protectors off on the strut.
  11. Fastest l28 in the country indeed! if i had the money to do even half of the mods he has.. droooolllll only way i can think of of making it go as fast as he said is to run crazy boost, crazy amounts of fuel and a rear end made of supermans costume.. BTW i spy nawwzzz
  12. impartial to bob, but squishy i like! haha but im not parting with squishy. its a full urathane air dam, pretty thick too.. i remember seeing one other one on google but no one can name it.. oh well.. I shall call it squishy MKI
  13. the set i got look oddly similar to those. i got mine off of my buddys parts car, theyre what seems to be steel, no idea where it came from originally.. only lead i have for you is it says "chapstain shadow" on the bottom panel.
  14. I picked up this airdam off my buddies 10th ann 280zx he got as a parts car, been looking for what this is but never got any results. The MSA one looks similar but not the same. Any ideas?
  15. i like the s30, but agreed the wing is a bit much imo.. the 280 tho? seems a bit like it was just slapped togather, im all for the whole clean and simple look.
  16. Been on this forum for a while now but never got around to signing in on this thread. Heres the info 1982 280zx n/a hard top upgraded to 280zxt injectors MSA exhaust MSA short ram intake cut springs on tokico blues H4 headlight housings W/ 6K headlights (HID) Unknown airdam (if you can name it let me know, doesnt look like any of the msa ones) MSA wing Getting a set of rotas next week sometime 16x8 0 offset
  17. Yeah, I'm a little hesitant about removing the smog equiptment that I really need, haha, not to mention the smog guys here in the bay area are really picky about what they will pass, the first time I smoged the z, the guy refused to pass it because I had the msa intake on it.. Go figure, I replaced the giant air cleaner with something lighter and nicer and now my car won't pass smog. I don't know how tight the smog laws are elsewhere but around here they'll fail you for having the wrong muffler on if they could. From what I noticed it's mostly the 70's cars in general that would run better without an egr, as they weren't designed for them and would cause more problems than they solved. The 80's shouldn't have a problem with them, when I was running mine with the egr disconnected and now that I fixed it, I diddnt notice any diffirence. In my opinion I think that removing most smog components on 80's+ cars is pretty much pointless, a buddy of mine wanted to block off his egr in his '86 corolla, I told him it would not do anything, guess what? So he just put it back.
  18. Well the Thing is, last time I tried to smog it, the emissions rivaled that of a diesel truck, it has since gotten better but I am doubtful. Do z's really run that clean? That's a surprise.
  19. Yeah, gotta love them haha. Sometime next week I shall make an attempt at passing Cali emissions after throwing a fresh cat on it, RUZN you're lucky!! I can't stand the smog laws around here.. Eehh if you can't beat them join them!! Atleast my 210 is putting up a good fight, one cold morning at a time! Anyways, hope all goes well, any tips on helping the 280 pass smog?
  20. I don't think that the '80 Cali cars have them, my buddys 10th anniversary diddnt, that was a Cali car too. So last night it dawned on me.. The two vacuume lines that run from the ported vacuume switch and T underneath just in front of the throttle body. I got the car with the motor allready rebuilt.. So I figured, maybe they crossed some vacuume lines.. So I switched them and voilà ! No mis at the low end, took it for a spin and it ran just like new. Kind of a stupid mistake, should have thought of that sooner, my 210 has a million of them and screw one up and it'll run like crap. So, problem seems to be solved. Thanks for the advice "eec564", I'll double check everything just to make sure.
  21. I have a problem with my egr, I've looked through the forums but can't find anything close.. So here's the senerio, at low rpm (~800-2k) just above idle, I get a consistant mis, unplug the egr valve and it clears up. I have since replaced the egr valve, the ported vacuume switch that goes to the egr, all the vacuume lines. Now I'm stumped. The maf is new, new plugs and wires, cap rotor the O2 is new. Good compression across all cylinders (motor rebuilt). I have no clue anymore, I traced all the lines and they all go to their apropriate ports. This mis is causing me to fail smog miserably, any help or ideas would be much apreciated.
