  1. http://zfilms.org/MWSMotorsports/ video on actual tt conversion
  2. I doubt an ls1 is a compact as a nissan 3.0. I would measure the engine room of the Z32 first. I own a Z32 and the engine room is tight. I would like to see you do it. I thought of a 1uzfe for a better fit and light weight.
  3. I have used marvel mystery oil for years in various small machines ie air compressors, sewing machinges, etc. but never in auto engine. Does anyone know what MMO is? Just curious, a mystery!. I always thought it was a light machine oil.
  4. I thought I would ask the 'bow ties' this question also: My SBF/289 engine has been sitting for quite awhile. I noticed that several (not all) of the push rods ends are loose versus the rockers, so i guess that some of the valve lifters have probably drianed down. How long does it take for a typical valve lifter to drain down in an engine that sits. Also, when I ultimately restart the engine, do I need to spin the oil pump? and will that pump up the valve lifters with oil? Ferd

  6. great job, Clifton, Any chance you can post some pics of the interior of your car? Dash, cage etc. Looks like a nice scca setup. Ferd
  7. Great information thanks,, Thanks, no question that all things go out of adjustment. I guess the TAM if not abused should hold onto its caibration ok. My snap type wrench has a small knurled thumb nut at the end of the handle, which I presume is the tightening/loosening of the handle so that once you set it, the handle ( and torque setting ) will not turn while using it.
  8. another thought, why is the TAM so 'trustworthy'. Why is it that the electronic device never goes out of adjustment?
  9. one tw is a snap type, and one is a beam type. I tested those two againt my tam. I used only 40 lbs since any more would have required a stronger jig. Hers a question, once tested, is the snap type TW actually adjustable is its needed to do so. If so, how do you do it. Ferd
  10. I used my Kent-Moore Torque angle meter to spec out my two other TW's. Since the electronic TAM is supposedly always adjusted correctly, I used my other TW's on the TAM while it was installed on a vise. Damn they were both pretty much on the money. However, what I learned from doing this is you really have to finese the readings. IOW, nudging up, lubricating the fastener (if required), will give a more accurate reading.
  11. hey, I forgot about my electronic Kent-Moore Torque Angle Meter which operates as a torque wrench up to 200 pounds which solves my immediate problem. I tried to sell this item several time but there is not much of a market for it. Chevy techs used them for engine assembly. I thought I would mention this just for TW afficianadoes!
  12. damn, wonder if it would work on the crank bolt I removed today. LOL
  13. I think I am going to buy a beam TW if they make them for 180 lbs or more? Is this a good choice?
  14. Dragonfly, interesting solution that I never thought of. Really there is no reason not to use this solution.
  15. grumpy..you are saying to NOT buy from HARBOR FREIGHT, but to buy from sears or home depot ie Husky brand, etc? I have a click type to 150lbs, and spring indication type again to 150lbs. I never really checked for accuracy. Anyway I will probably buy one from sears, I hate to borrow one from a parts store not knowing if its accurate. Ferd
  16. I need to torque a crankshaft bolt to 180 Ft. Lbs. I have two torque wrenches that only go to 150 ft. lbs. Do I need to get a larger torque wrench? Any tricks to use the ones I have. Ferd
  17. I read this thread quickly so if repetative sorry..take a look at the radiator inside with cap off, while revving the engine . This should show the water moving. If water not moving/flowing the water pump could be bad. I had an 81 1100 but never had this problem,,great bike. Ferd
  18. My 11 year old professionally installed sun film on my passenger side window glass seemed to have broken its seal for about 5 inches due to probably the window film pulling away from the rubber seal when window was opened in hot weather. Is there a way to 'patch' up so I dont have to replace the entire film on the glass. what Adhesive to use??
  19. I have two A/C gauge sets that I would like to buy replacement seals and o-rings for. ANyone know a good place to find parts like this?
  20. my Z32 has an A/C hi-side service port with a 3/8 24 unf fitting. I am looking for an adapter to connect my R-12 gauge set which has a 1/4 flaired female. I have not found this type of adapter in the A/C catalogues as yet. Anyone ever have a need for one of these and where did you acquire the adapter? I am asking this question in an A/C url but thought one of you could help. Ferd
  21. Here is an excellent url for Z32's// none better... but better use 'search' http://www.twinturbo.net/
  22. Mastercool model 90059 or something like it. I like the price better than the ones I have looked at. I will check out. But..I thought you needed a 2 stage to get to that low a micron level.
  23. What are y'all using for a/c evacuation. Does the cheapy HF venturi device work well? Also, I am thinking of buying a Robinair vacuum pump since I have several old cars with A/C, whats a good model for a DIY'er? Any advice will be aprreciated Ferd
