I have a 260z and a vapor expansion tank(just like yours except its black and looks a little different). I did a l28et swap and got rid of it(also running no charcoal canister). I believe some models of the 240z didn't even come with the tank(i believe i read it was the Japanese models, someone here can verify for you). I just have the largest breather hose coming from the gas tank(15mm) going directly to the vent/breather tube on the gas filler neck on the inside of the car. This makes it so when your pumping gas the vapors can escape allowing you to fill the tank. Otherwise, if you don't have any type of breather, you will be unable to pump gas. I'm just about to start my turbo swap this weekend so I can't tell you exactly how it work for me but it should be just fine. There's a thread on here that talks about deleting it in depth try searching "Gas/vapor expansion tank." I will try to find the thread and post the link later.......

A quick FI and ignition 280zxt to S30 turbo swap guide
cd1105 replied to bumble zee's topic in Turbo/Supercharger
Ok, let me try to make my question clear with pictures. this is the oil pressure switch off a 280zxt, its two pronged and this is the type on a 260z(my car is a late model 260z) . The connection off my harness(the stock 260z harness) is a single yellow wire with black stripe that plugs onto the 260z oil pressure switch. My question is how do I adapt my single connection off of the 260z harness to work with the two prong 280zxt style oil pressure switch? I know i will have to cut and add on a new connector end to fit the prong style, but there are two prongs and only one wire off the harness. -

cd1105 replied to bumble zee's topic in Turbo/Supercharger
Ok thanks i got it figured out. Now i have everything wired up, and the only missing piece is the oil pressure switch and o2 sensor. The two harnesses in the guide don't have an oil pressures connection and an o2 connection, or does mine just not? I didn't see one off any of my harnesses what are people doing with the oil pressure switch and o2? -

I'm finishing up my turbo swap ( as I type this) and i have one more wire to run , but not sure where to put it. switched power wire its the black and white switched power wire(on the far right in the picture). does any one know the color of the late 260z's switched power wire on the harness in the engine bay? I pulled the tape and seen 3 black and white wires(two the same gauge and 1 a little bigger), I want to say its one of these but im not sure. If it is the bigger gauge black and white wire, it is factory spliced into two blue wire when i traced it..... On a side note but its not important does any know the constant power color?

A quick FI and ignition 280zxt to S30 turbo swap guide
cd1105 replied to bumble zee's topic in Turbo/Supercharger
i have the stock 82zxt ecu and afm setup. With the negative post off the fuel pump can i just run a wire and ground it somewhere? The long green wire end goes to the positive on my fuel pump, i just need to know what to do for negative terminal on the fuel pump, because as you can see there is no ground wire for the fuel pump, off the relay........only that small black wire, which the guide say is a ground for the relay(do i just ground this wire on the body in the engine bay?). -
bump.

A quick FI and ignition 280zxt to S30 turbo swap guide
cd1105 replied to bumble zee's topic in Turbo/Supercharger
Thanks, I think ima going to use the fuel pump relay off the 82zxt harness and an inline fuse....where did you put the fuse in the connection and what did you do for the negative terminal on the fuel pump? -
Alright so the Green wire goes to the positive my walbro fuel pump and im going to put a fuse inline with that as the fuel pump instructions say. My question now is the black ground coming out of the relay goes where??? should i just ground it to the body, because its not long enough to reach the negative on the fuel pump?? What should i do about the negative terminal off the fuel pump? can i just run a wire and ground it to the body?
-
Hi, I'm trying to wire up my walbro fuel pump right and was wondering if i could see some example of how people have done it on their turbo swaps. I'm mostly wondering on how people have the fuel pump wired to the stock fuel pump relay off the ZXT harness and are they running a 20amp fuse inline with the relay to the postive on the fuel pump. ~Thanks Corey

Did you zcarnut's method in the link http://forums.hybrid...ap/#entry336351 . and was your car a late model 260z? Ok so i took pictures of my late model 260z engine bay. This the connector i have coming from the shunt. this is what the connectors look like from under the shunt male and female. it is different from what the guides on zcarcreations and atlanticz have on the guide. the wire colors on the connector are white, yellow , black, black and white, and another white one i think (the previous owner spray painted black over EVERYTHING in the engine bay). Which wires do i need to splice together and on which end (male or female). there is a connector similar to the to ones on the guides but it is up by the alternator coming out of the main harness.

Hi im in the of wiring up my l28et swap and i canme across this thread talking about the shut off issues of the swap using the stock alternators. I figured i might as well tackle this issue before i continue to wiring everything up. I've been reading through the forums and i saw the link for the 280z to 280zx alternator swap guide, since i have a late model 260z(11/74) i figured that guide would most fit my needs. My question is, that im going to be using the 70a ZXT alternator if i follow the guide thats on atlantic Z should everything work, or do i have get rid of the interlock as previously stated in the thread?

I was 19 when i bought mine... i wanted an rx-7 fd or nissan skyline earlier(14-17) like all teens fascinated with japanese imports. One day i had money to buy my first car and my friend show me the car and said, any1 before 75 had no smog and i could drop whatever motor i wanted in there.Since then i was hooked. My mom had a non turbo Zx until i was about 5(then she got a maxima, then pathfinder), and my dad owned a 280z when he met my mom.So i was like might as well keep it nissan and i bought my 260z...i just turned 21 in march....
