  1. Ok well,what if the bottom end is fully stock, 0 miles and the only mod to block was a set of flat top pistons sitting say .17 thou above deck.n47 shaved .10thou 480 lift cam,lots of over lap. Considering all of this, would the over lap be the determining factor as to P2V clearance?
  2. Im running a maxima n47 head shaved 10thou...flat tops with no reliefs. 495 lift. I have no issues ATM but I do plan to advance the cam timing a few degrees for better low end.ill let you know if I have any damage.

  5. I used a dial indicator and my cam is actually 292 durr/495 lift @ 0.50.. 108 lobe separation. Ill try the clay idea.But with this information,do you think ill have issues? Im thinking of running in the #2 position
  6. Hey guys,im building another l28 this summer.I have a fully ported mn47 head shaved .10 thousandths. The block is balanced,and fully refreshed with stock bore flat tops.(no valve reliefs)...the cam I am wanting to run is 295durr/495 lift...will I have any clearance issues with this cam? Id like to run it degreed at 4-8 degrees advanced. Thanks for the input.

  8. Hey, I thought Id write this up due to the mis conception about the 4 barrel set up. I have ad ztheropy su carbs,tripple mikunies and the holley set up.all are great set ups,each having there benefits. The common issue I see is people saying that a 600+ cfm carb on,a 2.8l engine wont work well..WRONG. And size carb will work from 390-1000cfm! If you step away from the typical su carbs and tripples and actually take the time to learn how to properly tune a 4 barrel carburetor,you will see that a 650cfm dubble pumper can be ran effectively on our engines! Its all about booster signals,jets,air bleeds,power valves and patients. There are many guys out there who run the holly set up.the ones who dont like it,dont understand carburetor tuning.I honestly like the 4 barrel set up over the tripples.there cost vs performance is so close ya cant beat it.try to find a triple carb set up for less than $500 USD.so all you guys out there bashing the 4 barrel set up,give it a try and have someone who knows 4 barrels set it up.its a much cheaper option than tripples.As far as #1-#6 cylinders running lean,instal annular boosters to get better fuel atomization.I have yet to see proof that there is a lean condition.   10. My buddy has a 280z.switched over to carbs,10:1 CR and 4.11 diff with slicks.stick car.hits 60in 5.3 seconds.running stock cam and 100oct AVE gas mixed with 93oct.available at the pump here in Florida.beats my buddies 96 mustang 302 all day.hes a kick a** driver though.

  12. To get 300hp n/a is going to take lots of time on the head work,correct camshaft choice,compression being between 10.5 to 12:1+...then its short gear transmissions,low gear differential,drag or street slicks,and then you get into suspension

  16. Hey, So I understand I can just go with SDS or megasquirt.I already have a ported AZC 4 barrel manifold.I have been lookibg at the Atomic EFI from MSD. Self tuning,flows 900cfm.which I like due to the fact it will let the engine pull in its max cfm with ease.has annular style fuel boosters for maximum throttle responce and is good for hookin up to msd 6al box to control ignition all hands free....has anyone done this? Its good from 200hp-650hp engines.
  17. Ive seen 26lb on a completely stock bottom end....ive seen 30+ in person on a extremely well built turbo l28...just start small and work your way up.

  19. I hear ya on that.I run a Holley on my z and I love it but this atomic efi is so awesome id love to try it.the install for the carb is pretty easy once you figure how you want to set up the throttle linkage

  23. Also,stubling under load can be a bad EGR as well.check to make sure your EGR valve diaphragm isnt broken.they tend to go bad after 30 years.is it backfiring?
