  1. I did my oil pan like that as well. Soon I'll be doing my engine bay like TX1021. Great stuff. Their tank sealer is awesome too.
  2. I also considered doing this. Then I actually crawled underneath my car and realized only my idler arm was screwed up. I'll be keeping my recirc. ball steering I think. I've been spoiled by new model cars. There's a member here in GA I believe with a manual rack, roger280zx, might wanna try to PM him.
  3. The engines themselves are probably different yes. The point of the gentleman's thread is that if you've got proper flow at the end of the line, the size of that line is irrelevant to most extents. I deal with this at work when sizing sewer systems, and I agree with everything he said. There's many different ways to calculate flow in my situation, but it's the same concept.
  4. I wanted to make sure this information didn't get lost to the hybridz'ers. Here is the information contained in that thread, borrowed 100% from that thread, and not written by myself or anybody I know.
  5. I picked up this thread from a Corvette Forum while trying to answer a question on zcar.com It holds some very interesting information, some that would be valuable to many people I believe. Have a looksy if you have a few minutes of time. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-forced-induction-nitrous/1758285-fuel-flow-vs-line-size.html
  6. Should have specified that the link in my post was for the service manual. Find the year you need and download it. It'll be a great tool. If you've got a manual transmission, you shouldn't need to "flush it." There's a drain plug on bottom and a fill plug on top. Make sure you can get the fill plug off before you drain it. The rest should be self explanatory. There's a chart with recommended fluids and quantities in the service manual. http://www.xenons130.com/reference.html
  7. Oh dear. There should be a rule on all car forums that you must consult a service manual before becoming a member. http://www.xenons130.com/reference.html
  8. My car currently has headers, a 2.25" pipe, and a cat, dumped behind the rear suspension. The old muffler was cut off due to having a hole in it. Even that sounds like crap, personally. I don't drive it though.
  9. Just a shot in the dark, but I imagine it shouldn't be used with FI.
  10. My brother in law rebuilt one with his dad when he was a kiddo. It was his first car and he loved it. Unfortunately, duty calls and he was in the dessert for a while. Came home and it was no-where to be seen. I'd get it, I think they're pretty sweet.
  11. Looking at your sig, looks like you already have a nice garage full of Z's. I know that I don't plan to spend near as much as 30K$ on my project. Personally, as cool as those LS2 Z's are, just seems a bit much to me. I'd sure drive one, and if I were full of more money than sense (not saying you LS2 Z guys are,) I wouldn't mind building one. Don't know if that helps any. Like Lewis said, depends on the type of guy you are.
  12. This may be a stupid question, so please forgive me. Can a 3/8" coupler be used to connect the gas tank to an AN line? If I'm not mistaken, the stock tubing is 5/16". Seems like 1/16" could be made up with some sort of spacer between the line and the fitting. Although would that be leak-proof? Or is 1/16" anything to worry about?
  13. Thanks for that. I got to thinking about all of that last night and basically was under the same assumptions that you just confirmed for me. Thank you!
  14. I'm looking for a fuel pump that will serve me now and in the future. Current car is a stock 81 NA. It'll eventually be a turbo car, my goal is roughly 300 horse. I'll be running an aftermarket fuel rail with an aftermarket regulator with both applications, different injectors for each. I'm a little confused as to what I'm actually looking for. I'll list these to make it easier to understand my questions. 1. Can I buy a pump that will work well with both applications? 2. Is it okay to run a pump that has a higher pressure and higher volume than what I need? 3. Would I be able to just turn the pressure down, or will it still push too much fuel into the motor? 4. Would I be able to turn a high volume pump low enough to get the appropriate volume and still keep pressure high enough? 5. Is the appropriate volume based upon HP numbers supported by the rest of the build, or on the flow rate of the fuel injectors? 6. Where can I find something detailing where to get those appropriate volumes based upon injector size/HP as per question 5? Sorry for all of these questions. I couldn't really find specific answers for this, more so recommendations for specific apps. using specific components. I want to make sure I don't have to buy parts more than once if I don't have to. I plan to run my car on the stock motor until I can afford a full turbo build like I want. I can't afford to do it all really quickly, and I have no idea when I'll have everything together, could be 6 months, could be a couple years. I may be better off sticking with the stock FI for now, but I am going to be redoing my hard lines as well as using stainless braided lines in the next month or so. It ain't broke, but I might as well fix it.
  15. There is a place in dallas I believe where you can actually rent a "supercar" for a day, weekend, week, etc. It's not too bad considering you get to look like you've got money for a while.
  16. It only gets down into the 30s for about a week at a time, and very infrequently. Still debating...
  17. I'd like to get rid of every emissions related item on my car, but I keep reading and finding things that lead me away from that path. The intakes on these cars are just so bloody ugly. Seeing everybody's nice, clean intakes makes me happy inside.
  18. Tell it the temperature of the motor. I'm dumb, sorry.
  19. It's my understanding that this thing helps with cold starts. I'm curious what all the coolant hoses actually do to aid with a cold start.
  20. Yeah I sent that guy a message today, waiting for a response. I've also considered going through that Ebay company which cleans them and replaces the pintle caps and such. I'd rather have the o-ring style, but I guess it wouldn't be all bad getting mine cleaned.
  21. If I can track down some decently priced injectors. Have a few e-mails out to various venders.
  22. I'm looking at getting a pallnet rail. I'd like to go with the O-ring style as it's a bit cheaper and he says it doesn't require new injector holders (mine are about done.) Plus my injectors either need to be cleaned or replaced. If I can get some nice replacements for a good price, I'd rather do that. Two of them have a crack in the plastic where fuel sprays out. I think those are called Pintle Caps? Not sure.
  23. Most auto parts stores will have it in large rolls in the back. They'll usually sell it by the foot.
  24. Yeah I saw that. I'm guessing there was a typo, because 188 should be around 16 lbs or so. Oh well.
