I read up on buying a spool gun.. but since i'm a cheap person by nature..
i figured the new nylon lining and roller kit for more than HALF the cost of the gun was worth a shot. If it doesn't work.. eBay does wonders sometimes!
i do have a 110v by the way.. i guess we will see!

Just wanted to share lol
Im going to try out Lincoln Electric's Aluminum welding kit for my Lincoln Electric Mig!!
Part #k664-2 $63 from a local welding supply warehouse
I've done a lot of reading and I think I will be able to use it pretty successfully as long as I have pure argon gas and PUSH the welds and not pull!
I'll let ya guys know how the results come out!! Otherwise chime in with your aluminum MIG welding experiences!

thanks for sharing!
always entertaining =)
-
that looks great!! I thought the wind tunnel results show better cooling by blocking off the *upper* radiator grill and not the lower?
i need to do more reading

use an air compressor..
and a small nozzle.. maybe some rubber hosing to slip into the fiberglass... and blast air in a few areas and it should loosen it up enough to pop off.
-
Grim..
have you ever used an enter key? that was by far the most difficult thing i've read in a while..
check out what you can do with using the enter/return key!!
Here's my list of books I want so far.-Chassis Engineering by Herb Adams-Auto Math Handbook by John Lawler-Maximum Boost by Corky Bell-Engineer to Win by Carroll Smith-Competition Car Suspension by Allan Staniforth-Tune to Win by Carroll Smith-Competition Car Aerodynamics by Simon McBeath-Turbo by Jay K. Miller-Engine Blueprinting by Rick Voeogelin (may have spelt that wrong)-High Performance Brake Systems by James Walker-Race and Rally Car Sourcebook by Allan StaniforthIs this a good list, anymore recommendations? Nobody have any experience with The Race Car Chassis by Forbes Aird that I originally posted about?I have edited this 3 times to have the titles listed and bulleted but it keeps smooshing it together, I think its because of the school's computers here. If its not fixed this time I'll fix it when I get homeTO THIS

Phil...
no offense to Rob.. but its your car.. you can do whatever the hell you want to it.
He lives in California.. you live in Texas.. I dont think anyone will ever say "omg i saw a Z that same color the other day not far down the road!"
If you like the color.. stick with it. You only live once.. do what makes YOU happy.

angle grinder + hole saw + dremel tool

I have 2 perfect Group B dvd's for you
"Too Fast to Race"
and
"Still too fast to race"
-
wow.. Silvermine's pricing is about $100 more for the entire package.. and that includes the brake lines..
so I would basically pay $25 extra to buy a complete package from one shop versus piecing it together from different places.
not too shabby!
-
wow great looking plenum!
very impressive!!
did you mig those aluminum welds?!
-
Sweet.. i added everything up..
Spacers > .375" (280z hubs only) from SummitRacing.com $60.95 per pair
Calipers > 1990 Toyota 4 Runner from RockAuto.com $50 each + $30 for a core
Rotors > 1984 Nissan 300zx vented from RockAuto.com $30.79 each
Pads > Hawk ~$120
Master Cylinder > 1981 Nissan 280zx 15/16" brake master from RockAuto.com $28.79 (without caps and reservoirs)
Grand total of $371.95 plus shipping for the entire setup.
Thats a $418 dollar savings! from Arizona Z car's setup.
*note* I may also need to make my own brake lines.. but thats not too much *note*
Seriously you can't go wrong
-
Advance auto parts has them for $45 plus $25 for a core charge. You can buy them loaded for $83.99
The site is down but I believe AutoZone has them loaded for $139 + $50 for a core charge.
Ill prob hand in my s12+8 non vented calipers in the box and they prob wont even notice lol.
-

Im about to weld on new frame rails and some minor rust repair on some body panels.
I would like to do the engine bay, underbelly and wheel wells with Por-15 and a top coat.
Think I can get away with a quart or two?
or should I bite the bullet and buy a gallon? thanks guys
