The cutting began today.. muahaha.
Just need to weld on the runners to the flange.. and weld up some mounting tabs for a secure unit.
Then the pressure plenum project begins

the velocity of sound site has the cheapest of $22.. but i was lookn for a lower price.
thanks guys

great idea!
ATPturbo already released this a few years back though =(
The VES system is a system that works “on demand” at the onset of boost on turbo and supercharged vehicles to free up all the backpressure (just as a large exhaust system would) in the exhaust stream so the engine can make maximum power. The VES system works as an active dump tube that completely bypasses the restrictive exhaust system when boost is present. As soon as the turbo spools, the valve begins to open. By the time the turbo makes full boost, the valve is fully open.Highlights of the way VES works:
* Completely quiet and stock-like sounding during startup, idle, and cruising.
* 0 delay in valve response to boost, yet very smooth transition into boost mode.
* Automatic open/close under boost using existing boost source on turbo engine and does not rely on wing nuts or electrical motors.
* Integrate a boost controller to control when the valve opens or completely turn it off.
* Addresses virtually all complaints associated with large 3” cat-back exhaust systems.
Highlights of how our VES components are built:
* Solid billet steel construction holds up to high (turbo) temps and won’t fatigue and fail in continuous heat.
* Precision CNC machined to tighter tolerances for a gasket-less seal.
* Built using existing, reliable wastegating technology.
* Standard valve built to accept most common actuator bolt patterns for wide range of spring pressures.

Stock brakes are fine.. but damn they overheat quickly..
After 3 track sessions of stock brakes.. after trying different pads and fluids.. I couldnt take it anymore..
the Toyo non-vented lasted a bit longer.. but still a bad decision.
I am just going to do it right the 3rd time and go Arizona lol

240Z, 260Z, 280Z
1970-7/73 ALL 151 PSL & 151 PSR
8/73-1978 ALL 106 PSL & 106 PSR
Those are some vented rotors you can use on a stock setup
http://www.buybrakes.com/store/106PSL just like this!
I was just wondering if there was another source =)
-
LoL.. noo no.
Lets just pretend.. I am using an entirely pure stock setup with the stock 280z calipers..
Ive seen a few Z's with vented or cross drilled rotors.. and stock brakes.
Im trying to source down where the rotors came from!
-
I found one company that did not offer pricing.. i think powerslot.
Anyway.. im looking for a good vented rotor setup I can use for a stock setup.. I have some 4x4 calipers.. although I'm not running the vented setup.
After a few track sessions.. I would like to see the difference in a vented rotor versus a solid rotor.
-
I drilled through most of the screws.. heated up some of them.. and tried a new set of screwdrivers at Home Depot (while i worked .. haha) and got em loose great success!

Materials are all in.. I will be cutting and preparing for welding over fall break..
project should be done in 2-3 weeks. we will see how it turns out and Ill post lots of pics =)
-
I have VG's and louvers =)
-
At my altitude the car idles at 12in. hg. when warm.
and off boost is great.. obviously 7:1 sucks.. but its still somewhat snappy.
-
no xbox and Forza 2 or PGR4?
-
Ive decided I am just going to buy a .5" thick plate.. drill 1.625" and use a radius'd bit I will use with a vertical mill.
I have a choice between a 1/4" radius or a 5/8" radius which is HUGE.
Basically my velocity stacks will be integrated to my flange =)

I would have to say an impact gun saved many many hours of agony and makes a speedy fix.
ofcourse box wrenches and a socket wrench for the smaller jobs.
and then the impact wrench.. dont want the car falling apart!
then my welder! oh gosh so many tools
But overall.. I like my impact gun!
how about you guys?!

umm.. im running a .488 lift and 260 duration (in/ex) cam on my car..
Phil we have very very similar specs.. and I also have a 2mm metal headgasket...
I didnt need to adjust the cam sprocket at all.. only thing I did was slide in the new cam, new springs and adjusted properly.. and changed some tuning.
I didnt even bother changing the timing.. and I have great power and the turbo gets full boost at 3,600 RPM. Maybe the altitude makes a difference on spool or something.. but I love my setup right now.
-
Well I have a metal headgasket..
Im wondering if the head is beginning to warp... oh how I wonder how I wonder.
Keep in mind this only squeels after about 15 min of driving. soooo I'll do a compression test.. and intake/exhuast manifold
-
-
Oh.. interesting note..
these ITB's are MIKUNI!
wonder if itll bolt up to a tripple carb manifold
-
yeh those damn phillips screws on the carbs!
I have a NEW set of precision phillips screw drivers.. and I cant get em loose
-
There is no condensation =(
I do have a bad gasket.. damn exhaust bolts loosen over time and started leaking.. I need to replace it.
Maybe thats the problem.. but this noise.. oh man oh man. it hurts its so loud.
What i cant seem to conclude is if its the gasket.. what does it have to do with relation to heat?!
-
I have never in my life had more of a problem then with this stupid screws...
I have 2 - 2006 units and brand new hardware (obviously) and I have stripped so many of these damn screws. I noticed there is a blue thread locker on them.. and OMG.
I have a better chance loosening a rusted 30 year old screw then I do with these things.
-
I've narrowed down where the noise is coming from..
Somewhere in the area of Cylinder 1, the thermostat and the distributer.
Now the noise is a squeeling noise(letting air out of a balloon with a pinched valve) and is related to only vacuum. The greater the vacuum, the louder and higher pitched the noise is. Also.. this will only make the noise when HOT. the engine will not do this cold or warm.. only fully warmed up or hot.
Could this be a thermostat??

I have been browsing for a few hours on google and ebay...
and the cheapest I could find for my application (40mm ID) is about $22 a pop! and I need 6 of em! ugh
Anyway.. ya guys know a cheap source for some aluminum velocity stacks??

what the.. how the hell did I miss you posting that link!? wtf
haha thanks man
