Could it be the rings?! even if adding oil increases the compression numbers by 10psi?!
-
Welp. Still smokes..
SON OF A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PIECE OF ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ ******* ENGINE

Alright..
Well I changed the valve seals.. some Viton valve stem seals from Fel-Pro I bought many many many months ago.
Took about 2 hrs
I am going to give it a drive after a quick shower.
BTW - This valve spring compressor ROCKS!!!
http://www.mytoolstore.com/kd/kdengi13.html#3087 (its on the very bottom part number KD 3087)

there were rumors around my local car club that someone jacked my intercooler from my Z.
great someone is thinkin of jacking my junkyard intercooler. wtf
-
like I said be careful with those 200sx calipers.. that have the fixed e-brake arm. They will hit the brake line where the rubber/stainless meets the solid brake line.
I would cut off the arm honestly
-
the guage is fairly steady.. obviously idle isnt exactly at 600rpm.. so it bounces around 550-700rpm untill nice and warm.. so the vacuum guage will fluctuate .5" in. hg. but nothing big and stays solid once warmed up.
-
OK I did some tests
I can hold the throttle at 4,000 RPM for example and no smoke.
When I let off and let the car widn back down to idle and then quickly add gas it shoots a CLOUD of smoke.
SOO.. narrowing it down.. smoke is only during deceleration and/or when the engine is winding down.
Does this point out any possibilites?!
BTW i purchased a new valve spring compressor so I'll change them tomarrow with the head on. but I was hoping my description might help.
I think Garrett is on to the right idea.. on decel or engine wind down.. the vacuum goes to about 20" in. hg. while idle is 10" in hg. seems like the increased vacuum is pulling in oil from maybe the valve stem seals!?

impressive!

Welcome to the board himself.
This post should belong in the Engine Components and the "Other EMS" or "Megasquirt" forum..
Both MS and SDS is standalone so it replaces the cars ECU.
MS is cheap SDS is a bit steeper in price.
I am using Megasquirt on my 280Z with a Holset turbo and I have been running 18psi for sometime now. Tuning is fun and easy..
alot of people are running SDS and absolutly love it and its exactly what SDS stands for. SIMPLE. it can be installed and running in a day, while Megasquirt takes some fine tuning and getting it perfect.
I vote Megasquirt. but SDS vote SDS.

thanks for the kind words titanium Z!
couldnt of done it without your ingenious works!

I will be using a exterior caulking/sealant with some "extreme temperature" ducting tape. The tape is aluminum with a strong adhesive and should withstand cold and hot temperatures and is waterproof!
Everything I am using is from Home Depot.. since I work there I have alot of spare time to wonder around and look at the product haha
So far this has cost me $22. $12 for a 4x8 sheet of sheet metal
(Home Depot offers 3 types. Galvanized in the plumbing/ducting aisle. The steel is 26 guage for $11. Steel in the hardware department which is way overpriced. $18 and its 22 guage. The third type is 22/24 guage steel in the gutter/roofing aisle used for flashing. This was $12 and much thicker than the galvanized metal in plumbing)
I used 3/16 aluminum rivets and washers =)

Good call Jon..
I was planning on finishing everything up tomarrow..
just some pics and hopefully a brief discussion on what would be the best thing to do =)

Well after looking at TitaniumZ's front end mod with decreasing the opening to the radiator and reading the data on the Aerodynamics data chart..
I decided to block off the upper grill from the bumper line to the hood.. and I also blocked off the sides of the grill so no air is wasted in the monster opening of the Z's mouth.
I just welded on some sheet metal from Home Depot behind my grill..
and added a piece of sheet metal from the air dam to the radiator support.. and an upper piece of sheet metal from the grill, across the intercooler and to the radiator.
I am just experimenting with different things right now.. yes its ugly but Function over Form.
Excuse the poor quality.. i misplaced my camera.. so its camera phone time

say bye bye to that tranny soon lol
-
I can either run the stock wheel bearing caps..
OR i can run the center caps with NO wheel bearing cap. that makes me nervous.. so im stickn with the wheel bearing caps

i agree it looks good on a ZX lol

lol
NOOO the HY35W has plenty of ommph. trust me LoL
if Justin see's over 500rwhp then he should change the turbo.

Ill buy the broken BRE spook.
I love fixin fiberglass

LoL.
a whale tail belongs on a Porsche.. ruins the lines of the Z =)
-
MS1 is perfectly fine for what you want.
my 2.2pcb board and MS1 even covers everything that you want.
If you want extra features.. be sure to get Megasquirt n Spark extra.
-
i just wish the whale tail wasnt so damn ugly
-
I say Miata. they are sooo much fun to drive.
L series - Positive crank case pressure, too much.

BTW maybe I should clarify.
doing a HOT DRY test at 5,800 feet up.. with a P90 head and F54 block, with a 2mm headgasket and aftermarket cam... I had 100psi across the board and 110psi WET!
