  1. the BOV is BEFORE the intake manifold..

soo there is MORE pressure in the intake piping and the valve on the BOV than the pressure in the vacuum tube further downstream..

    especially under low throttle situations...

throttle partially open in 5th gear = boost .. more boost in the piping than in the intake manifold

    dont believe me??

why do people crush the DSM BOV to tighten the spring? the stock DSM BOV will blow open stock at 17-19 psi... a crushed DSM BOV will hold 25psi

try an adjustable BOV like the Greddy Type RS.. and have it super loose.. and see how much boost you can run

  2. if the spring tension is very high.. with high amounts of boost.. the BOV will open and close, open and close very fast.. or a turkey call..

if the spring tension is very high.. and low amounts of boost.. the BOV will NOT open, and the turbo surge will result in a turkey call

if the spring tension is very loose.. and high amounts of boost.. the BOV will open and stay open for quite sometime and will close slowly... so letting off the gas, and mashing the pedal immediatly will not build boost. also too loose, will BLOW the valve open under boost, and you will have boost leak

    Capeesh?

  3. Hey guys..

I have been learning how to tune.. and been having a slight issue...

at rest, under no load .. such as idle I can tune the MAP for the perfect AFR for me 13.0 AFR to be safe... and also while cruising at different points...

however... under a load, such as climbing up a hill, or slowly accelerating from a dead stop such as a stop light.. I get spikes of like 20 AFR - 30AFR ...

how can I tune so it stays lean at idle and cruise, but also doesn't go lean under heavy load??

  4. damn that thing sounds like ****... and the looks too... ugh

HAHA... j/p man.. shes beautiful... and sounds sooo yummy

    Austin = Z pimp

  5. Ok.. I was workn on the Z .. and tuning.. and I looked at the Relay board..

and the 10a fuse under the Fuel FP area was blown... so I replaced it.. ever since.. the car will NOT turn off using the key, I have even unplugged the ignition switch with no luck..

the car runs fine with no fuse, and turns off fine.

but when the fuse is on, the fuel pump and ignition continues to stay on, key off, ign, acc or start

However.. with the car off... and I turn the key to ACC everything works properly.. then IGN and the fuel pump primes for 2 seconds... then I can start normally

with NO fuse.. when I turn to IGN the fuel pump continues to prime an doesnt stop.. no problem because ill be starting the car anyway and it will be running

    what's going on???

  6. Well.. I finally took some pics of my Megasquirt n Spark extra setup on the PDA...

if many of you have seen my post before, the pics were kinda crappy quality and didnt show what the PDA actually displays..

    soo.. here they are..

first off.. i dont have a laptop.. so I use an old PC and a TV tray and tune in my garage..

    6822574966.jpg

when I am on the road, I tune with the PDA

    6823041392.jpg

First you can see the display chart of the fuel map..

RPM across the top and Manifold Pressure on the bottom

    6823091848.jpg

at 5 (500rpm) and 20kpa 49 is highlighted?? well I can simply use the up and down arrows, and the left and right buttons to choose which VE (fuel) setting I would like to change

    6823095350.jpg

Once I open the VE tuning, I can monitor the MAP the RPM and EGO (which isnt hooked up)

    6823102818.jpg

Notice along the bottom there is 49 on the left and 49 in the box on the right? I can simply modify the VE (fuel amount) by pushing up or down..

this next pic shows the new value (52) on the left and the old value (49) on the right

I can also view all the parameters of the engine...

    6823130259.jpg

as well as modify settings like a rev limiter, and launch settings!

  7. um..

Subaru WRX motor?? still Horizontally opposed 4 cylinder..

or you can get a Subi Legacy motor .. HO 6 cylinder...

parts are easier and cheaper to find..

also .. Airplane engines are designed to run around 2,600 RPM for long long periods of time...

having an engine which will rev to 2,600 RPM is BORING and 100% useless...

I think they have a 2,500 TBO (to be overhauled) time anyway... but still..

    dont waste your money..

    a Subi motor.. then yes

  8. every one of my friends moved...

2 best friends .. one since 1st grade.. and one since 6th grade.. all moved.. to Cali and to Texas...

all of the girls I dated moved away and my buddies from high school..

I stayed at home, and go to a state college, and decided not to pay the rediculous cost of dorms and rent... more money for school and flight time..

it's not that bad though... keep up with your friends .. they come home ALL summer, for winter break, spring break etc..

soo it's not like ya won't see them again..

however.. they change alot.. my friends that went to CU boulder and CSU came back over summer, and were definatly "different" ...

but eh.. it's life.. people have to move their seperate ways
