  1. wishing I still had my Z

  2. If you are still looking check out mine for sale in the parts forum. It is a JSK and it is brand new. Thanks, Kyle
  3. I have a JSK fuel rail for sale on this forum. Check it out in parts. Thanks,
  4. money is tight. My car is 3500 miles away, but this is damn important. Can't wait to hear the results. Small but important donation sent!! Good luck all!
  5. I love the wrap around with all the lights and screens. You could have a playstation and a dvd running at the same time. Not that you would want it. Funny stuff.
  6. that is just crazy insane. it would be such a bad thing if that got into the wrong hands. I'd love to see a video of it.
  7. Awesome news Dave. My subscription had expired for sport Z so I now just subscibed to your new mag. Looking forward to getting it in the near future.
  8. That is too bad. It was an ok mag. I like Grassroots Motorsport as a magazine though. Non Z related but you see your occasional Z in a picture at a race. They are at least dedicated to the budget minded.
  9. Water + Electric tool = mistake Unless it is designed to get wet.
  10. Swap is done. Not that it was brain surgery or anything. Took me forever to get the engine out of the 78 with the tranny and to pull the whole front end. Took me another day just about to get it up into the 77 and all secured. While I was at it I changed the motor mounts and steering rack bushings. Man oh man the mounts are a pain in the arse. Doing all this by myself is taking alot out of me. I am so a newbe at this sort of stuff. My arms are all black and blue and I look so haggerd. But it is coming along. I have the radiator, altinator, and starter to swap next along with the master and slave clutch cylinder. I'm going to swap rear ends the same way too. A arms with diff, half shafts and suspension all in one go. I'll keep you all posted to see if it is all possible to finish before next Wed. morning.
  11. Such a simple solution. Thanks. I have such a wrench too that will do the job nicely. I have been so mentaly foggy lately. You are all my crutch.
  12. this is the sort of crap that goes on here that makes me keep coming back. I love the progress you are having and it really makes me wonder why the factory always has such a hard time doing anything as clean.
  13. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=7996&cat=500 Here is the pic of the part that I am talking about. It is supposed to have a "D" shaped hole where the shocks threaded part goes. Well, as I was replacing the suspension and tighting down the gland nut (I think that is what it is called) that attaches to the shock threaded part it all of a sudden spun around and the d shaped hole turned into a "O" shaped hole. I hadn't gotten the nut all the way on either and know I wasn't over torqueing. This of course happened to both sides. I have two spare perches but they are a bit loose and I am afraid the same thing will happen. What is my solution. Sorry if this has been covered as I have been working on the car for 15 hours straight today and have to have it done by next Tuesday and have no time. Thank you very very much.
  14. sweet!!! now hopefully it will be as fast.
  15. So, I have finally finished grad school, and all the projects I had at work. I have 8 days left before I move cross country and that is all the time I have to strip my 78 of all its parts and put them either in boxes to ship or on my 77 which I am keeping. So, today I put the 78 on jack stands and took out my JTR radiator and new altenator. Pulled the bumper, fenders, light scoops, and front air damn thing under the scoops. I did the same with the 77 as I am going to keep and put the 78 fenders on it. I also wire wheeled some surface rust and ground down a nasty weld from an old poorly done repair that I will reweld this week. My question... So the whole front cross member assembly on my 78 is in great shape. The steering rack has non torn boots, new tie rod ends, new end links, ball joints, shocks and springs, sway bar bushings. The 77 has all old stuff. In order to move the whole thing over as an assembly I have to support the engine and unbolt the mounts right? Once that is done there are just the four bolts securing this assembly to the frame right? I should be able to pull the entire unit (steering rack, shocks, etc) and put it on my 77 correct? I'll have to borrow a lift to pull the engine on the 78 and to hold the 77 engine. But does anyone see any problems with this? Or do you have a better way? The rack on the 77 has torn boots and I don't know what condition the parts are in but know the parts on the 78 are within 8K miles old or way newer. Hints and tips are welcome. Thanks all. No pressure for me this week or anything. My goals are to have it in pretty good shape. No visible rust, all the new parts from the 78 installed, and primered. It will then sit for a better part of a year indoors at my shop untill I have a place for it. I am not putting it outside in New England weather. So untill I have a garage it will sit in a dry California converted warehouse with a cover over it. Thanks for everything Z family, Kyle http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=7968&cat=500 this is just a link to two pics of my two cars. The blueish black one is the 77 that I am keeping. The other sadly enough is junk scrap metal when I am done with it.
  16. thanks guys. And it is RTV. Stands for Room Temperature Vulcanization. I use it to cast stuff for work. But I'll buy the automotive stuff. Thanks again, Kyle
  17. OK so this is pretty dumb. But I am removing and replacing the coolant outlet ( the one near the altenator) and I was wondering if I can use any paper gasket material or a liquid gasket? If a liquid one which one. Sorry for the silly question as I should know the answer. Thanks
  18. Maybe this website shouldn't be viewed when one is at work. Just my .02 cents. I'm still at home and it was definately home safe viewing.
  19. Grew up in Woodbury CT. Got my undergrad degree in Hartford. Lived in Glastonbury for a while. Now in Oakland CA and am moving to Boston in a month. Where you from?
  20. Awesome. What was the kit you used? How does it look on the inside where the switch is? Do Tell.....
  21. At the end of the month I will be starting my cross country trek in my Pensky 16 footer and towing my Volvo 850. (the z will come later) I will be going through Utah and plan on spending a day or two there. Just thought I would get your recomendations as to what actual part to see. I was told that Arches is a great place to stop. Anything else? Thanks
