  1. Well.. I had a 280ZX, and now own a 200SX... and both cars made the same "clunk" sound. It bothers me too! I asked the Nissan dealer about it... the guy said "possibly", the rear frame/unibody is twisting or bending slightly, or the mount is shot in the rear end. This would cause the it to sway around a bit, and hit the floor. Personaly, I think it has something to do with the rear suspension... but I cant find anything wrong with my 200sx. (or the 280zx I had) I have yet to loose a part of my car, and it still drives well. I think all you could do is replace EVRYTHING in the rear end of the car... suspension, u-joints, bushings, ect. but that would be expensive and may not fix the problem anyway... I think it's just a little... quirk with Nissans. Dont worry man, you are not alone! ------------------ The crazy datsun guy
  2. Yah man... that is u joints for sure.. my first 280zx made that sound when I bought it I've got a buddy with a jeep and he lost a u-joint the other day: his drive shaft fell out of the back of the transfer case and punched a hole in his floor. thank god it was only a Jeep! I'd check your car out realy soon, and try not to drive it too much till you know. ------------------ The crazy datsun guy
  3. Hmm.. thanks for the tips... I'l try that with my 200sx. It only has to last another few months though.. I want to drop in a 305 or 305. Any ideas on that? I know this is a 'Z car' board but I figured you people would know about V8 transplants... and it is a Nissan after all! I think it's strong enough.. could a V8 kit be modified to fit a 200SX? Any help/constructive critisizm is welcome! Thanks! ------------------ The crazy datsun guy
  4. Well.. let me just appoogise here... I live in Canada, and to find a good (no rust) Z car, I'm lookin at a LOT of money. My 200SX is in amazing shape and is, in some way shape or form, simmilar to the z cars of late. It is tough, has decent lines and handels like a dream. (well, it did till I killed the rear suspension!) So I figured that.. well, there are all these z cars with V8's, V6's and so on... how hard would it be to adapt something to my 200? It's front engine / rear drive and it HAS to have something in common with the 280zx.... It has 280 rims on it right now. (they're from my first 280zx.. all that's left of that car.. *snif snif* ) Well.. anyway, if it's ok with you hard core "Z car only" people, I just want a little help with my idea. I figured what beter place to ask right? Sorry if I offended anyone ok? Thanks to people who think my idea will work. ANy help is apreciated! ------------------ The crazy datsun guy
  5. I've got Bosch +4 plugs in my 200SX and WOW what a difference. I got the car about 6 months ago and it had NGK plugs in it. I tried the +4's (had to buy 8 of them damit!) and they are worth the extra money, trust me. I noticed a drastic improvement right away. I've put about 20 000 K (14 000 miles?) and it is still running good. It does have a twitchy idle though... goes anywhere from 500 to 1100 rpm sometimes!! I am hapy with the bosch plug though. ------------------ The crazy datsun guy
  6. Ok: I have had 3 Z cars so far, (dont own any now sold them all) BUT: I now drive a Nissan 200SX. It has a 2.0l 4 banger that goes ok but it's lacking that... Kick in the pants. I want to drop in a 305 w/5 speed. The car is in exelent shape, (no frame rot) and I think it will hold up to the power... I know I'll have to change the rear end and the suspension all around.( I'm going to lower the car anyway) And I know I'm going to have to fabricate something for the engine/trany mounts. Any I ideas or thoughts on this? I'm I crazy for thinking this will work? Oh well... any input would be apreciated! Email me or post something here ok? Thanks! ------------------ The crazy datsun guy
