  1. I just wanted to bump this up. Business got busy and I didn't work on the design for a while. Fortunately for the shirts, things slowed down a bit and I finished up my artwork. In any case, here's what we ended up with: That design has been approved by the board and we're going ahead with it! I'll be posting up a new thread to take orders in a couple weeks. Right now I need to get past an event on the 17th that is going to take all of my attention.
  2. My fiance rebuilds motorcycles for fun, rides them and dirt bikes, is my engine builder, and has in the past built herself a RB25 powered 240SX drift car which later donated its power plant to my Z build.
  3. I actually wasn't tremendously impressed with the driver. I've spent a lot of time involved with pro-am drifting in Texas and have seen all levels of driver. He's not bad, for that matter he's a lot more confident than me, but I saw several points where he over rotated a bit and had to get way off the throttle to recover. Admittedly this is in the wet where that is exactly what you have to watch out for, but if I caught at least three-four of those in the video, I'm sure that at least a few of the ones he didn't catch were edited out.
  4. They aren't horrible but I'm not tremendously impressed. The mustang wasn't holding all that much angle and the Z kept over-rotating and running out of steering angle. Editing probably left out an awful lot of spins and skids to a stop for the Z. I did look like the Z had something going for a bit of additional angle but not enough for serious competition.
  5. Yeah, a lot more framework than that went into it before I was done with it.
  6. I love the cabinets and work bench! Were those home built or bought from somewhere?
  7. I was watching another thread and it gave me the idea for a "post your shop" thread. I'd love to see where people work and keep their cars. I've recently become a home owner and I'm working on a shop to call my own now, and I'd love to see what other Z owners have done with their work spaces. Here's a couple of pictures of what I'm working on, and have worked on in the past: Here is the shop I had in Austin. I shared it with a couple of other guys so I only really had room for three cars in there, but it was still pretty cool. Unfortunately it was also 20 minutes from my house and hot as hell in the summer, which in Austin meant most of the time. I kept it for a year and had some good times there, but ultimately I was glad to leave. I spent a year working out of my father's garage which kind of sucked, but it did give me a financial boost to get my own house so it worked out in the end. Finally, I got my own place. One of the big reasons I bought this house was that it had a carport that would be easy to turn into a garage. Before you ask, the original garage is taken up by a vinyl and screen printing shop and what little room is left has a motorcycle lift and project bike in it, so no room there. Here's the house as I bought it: I started work pretty quickly on the carport. Here's the beginning of the framework for the garage door and new entrance door: And the finished product: Unfortunately since I just got the back siding up I don't have the nice interior pictures showing off what I'd really like to see from everyone else - cabinets, tables, benches, etc. I need some inspiration for the fixtures in the new shop area. So, what do you guys have?
  8. I'd love to have the money for something like that myself, but to be honest, I'd have to ask why you wouldn't just look to buy a piece of property and build your own man cave garage there. I suppose that there's the experience, or if you like living an inner city life and can't have the space there. Actually if I'm honest I guess the fact that I'm lucky enough to have found and bought a piece of property big enough to do what I want on it that is as close to the city as I want to be makes me a bit jaded. I've had a shop 15 minutes away from my house and I'm glad to no longer have to drive to work on my cars. Actually this thread does give me the idea for another thread - I'd love to see what people have set up for their garages... I'll have to start a thread here in a second.
  9. Check your MAF. That sounds an awful lot like what most nissan engines do when you have a bad MAF signal and it goes into the appropriate limp mode.
  10. That has come a long way! My shop was a block away when I still lived in Austin and I dropped by a couple times to see it early on. Looks so impressive now all put together!
  11. In Texas you can file for a bonded title, not sure if that's an option in your area. My Z is the same story - passed away owner, several hands without a title - and a bonded title is probably how I will go about getting it back registered again.
  12. Also curious on the total price. I'd be interested in a set without the switch installed. I'll be sourcing all of my own switches so that my interior matches but it would be worth a ton to get ready-to-go door panels shipped in so I don't have to mess with them.
  13. To be quite honest most of these are from my miata and 240SX since the datsun is still in the "collecting parts" phase, but they still apply fairly well. When the people at the auto parts store know you by name and still can never guess what car to enter in the system. When you've spent more than 30 minutes in the back of an auto parts store looking for that perfectly bent radiator hose. When you have an entire box of used intercooler/radiator/exhaust pips laying around and can identify what every piece is, when you pulled it off of the car, and what bits have been cut and used elsewhere.
  14. Nice work! +1 for a build thread over here. Would love to see what you are doing with the rest of the car.
  15. Putting lots of stuff in a miata with the top down is fun! I've hauled a lot of crap in mine over the years. BTW I need your drivers side fender, you have my paint code!
  16. Looks very nice! I didn't think the rails would hide themselves in that well when body colored. I may have to go that direction with my project! Shaving them is so much work...
  17. Beautiful color! Am I seeing things right that the drip rails are shaved, or are they just body colored and hard to see in the pictures?
  18. This looks like enough preliminary interest for me to go ahead with some artwork at least. I expect a lot of people might be waiting in the wings but not sure until they see how the shirt will look. I'll get working on that and post up something for opinions when I get something past the preliminary stage.
  19. You shaved the drip rails didn't you... That looks amazing. I can't wait for the day I can see my own car in the same state.
  20. Does anyone have any pictures of the last run? I wasn't aware that someone else had done any. Would be good to see what has been done before.
  21. I've been doing a lot of thinking about making a hybrid Z shirt lately and I think its time to check and see if the interest is out there to make a run of them. I've got a PM in to SuperDan for permission to use the name, but in the mean time while I'm waiting to hear back from him, I figured it was time to see if the interest was out there from the membership. I don't have a design yet, but I'm imagining something along the lines of the "engineered to be feared" stickers that were done a while back. The only set in stone feature is that it will have a S30 on it somewhere and it will feature the HZ logo text. The design will flesh itself out once I put my artist hat on and start working on it, but I would appreciate any input anyone has up front. Price will end up between $15-25 depending on the number of colors and complexity of the shirt when the design is finalized. Shipping will be flat rate $8 irregardless of how many shirts are ordered. I may do some sweat shirts if the interest is there. For those interested in my background - I'm a partner in a vinyl and shirt business and I try to make special runs of shirts and/or graphics to help out the groups who I interact with. I've already done the last run of stickers for the forum and that was fun. I'd like to do some more HZ stuff since I like hanging out here and frankly I'd like a shirt to wear to meets and what not. If you're interested - post up! I just need a rough idea of how much interest is out there to make sure we can get over the minimum quantity to make screening worthwhile. There's other options to explore even if there's only a few people wanting them, but screening is where it is at for a really cool shirt, and we need to get 15ish to make it worth while.
  22. I will pose a question to those who would ban the hellaflush movement and similar sentiments from the forum: What do you hope to accomplish by doing this? By removing this sort of content from the form. HZ loses potential members and turns away enthusiasts from a wonderful source of information. If what someone puts in a thread or does to their car bothers you, don't read the thread!. For the record, I haven't voted in either category on the poll in this thread as neither apply to me. I think that there is a place for all sorts of car design decisions when modifying a car, and so long as they are presented on this forum in an intelligent and readable manner, that they are welcome to post here.
  23. Should I PM you for a quote with shipping? I hate to spend the money right now but I want to put these into stock for the future.
  24. With that lip I can't see it working with the stock bumper. The lip brings the front point of the nose to the bottom. Adding another point would confuse the look. I might be able to get away with it without the R-package lip, but I'm still iffy on the look.
  25. I'd rather have it be urethane, but with my requrement that it be a bolt on replacement for the stock lower valence, not a molded front like yours, it would be near impossible to do. I've dealt with enough fiberglass over the years to know all of its faults and I'm ok living with it. It would just make the work so much easier!
