  1. long screwdriver? like to get the keepers out? Could you go into a little more detail maxxx?
  2. manual said to remove cam, remove valve springs and then remove the seals. If i didn't remove the cam how could i get a valve spring compressor in there?
  3. So I'm trying to replace my valve oil seals (with the head on the engine) I've tried everything, breaker bar, hitting ratchet w/rubber mallet, heating the sprocket bolt a bit with a torch. My friend suggested placing a thick screwdriver in one of the holes in the sprocket but i don't know exactly where/how. So I guess what i'm asking is, Any protips?
  4. yeah apparently i was reading the section on removing the steering lock because the wheel was just a single nut like most cars (i admit my stupidity) but now all is well and i have my new momo installed and it is the epitome of comfortable. I recommend getting a puller, my friend nearly broke his nose when he tried to pry his off by hand
  5. Ok for those who care the GM boss WILL fit the splines on the s130 steering shaft, but the collar on the s130 is shaped like a cone instead of just a plain cylinder like it is on the GM, so you will either have to have the boss chamfered or find a shaft collar that is straight and will fit the s130 steering shaft. While i haven't had mine chamfered yet the wheel still works fine, i am sort of paranoid that without a proper fitting collar it will come off while i'm driving or something but other than that its fine.
  6. thanks tec, the only reason i wasn't pulling the wheel off instead of making a thread was because i was afraid of the whole screw thing. Here goes i guess, i'll post the results if it ends of fitting
  7. So i recently acquired a Momo steering wheel from a friend but it came with a boss for a Pontiac fiero. I've never done anything related to a steering wheel on these cars so I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the boss will fit the s130, i realize that common sense says that the splines won't match because they're of different makes but i figured I'd ask before blowing $80 on a new one Also my haynes manual makes removal and installation of the wheel sound scary (drilling, self sheering screws...) is it really that hard or does it just sound that way?
  8. thanks cygnus, yeah a diverter valve is just a recirculating blow off valve. thanks for the quick reply that was exactly what i needed to know
  9. I could seal the area around the inlet/outlet with epoxy or something but that would also mean it would all be effectively one solid piece and not really that easy to work on. plus i would be down a boot and a silicon coupler if it doesn't work out also, DDD-Double post
  10. I'm collecting parts for my turbo build and am torn between buying a dsm blow off valve ($40 plus shipping for some reason) or my friends diverter valve from his 2005 mitsu evo ($15) but haven't seen/hear/read about anyone running one before. Does anyone know if it would be possible to run one of these because the only way i can see is cutting a hole in the boot in between the afm and the turbo inlet and another in the silicone connector that will connect two pieces of piping before my throttle body. Would that work?
  11. awesome build, i hope to do the same to my car some day
  12. awesome progress! can't wait to see a video of it running
  13. any more progress on this as of late?
  14. i could actually see that rx7 front end on a ZX. Not my cup of tea but to each his own
  15. also this: http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/13076-so-you-wanna-swap-an-rb-eng-here-ya-go/
  16. i once fit me, a friend in passenger seat, and two big fat guys in the hatch plus one very uncomfortable looking girl in between the seats. shifting was impossible but sometimes you just gotta drive your friends home when their car breaks down
  17. been driving mine in the winter for 2 years now and its fine, the only problem i had with it was one particularly bad snowstorm this last monday i got stuck in traffic that decided that stopping on a hill was a great idea. But even then i just spun my wheels a bit and cursed at the car behind me for stopping so close
  18. everyone on this site will tell you the same thing, search, then search again, then search some more. However i was once a newbie with the same question and the answer is that if you live in japan/hate having money/happen to have a RB lying around/want a LOT of horsepower then it is worth the huge amount of cash you'll dump into it. also any member will suggest that you just swap in the s130 turbo motor which is good if you're HP goal is around 250-300. but if you are adamant about an exotic engine swap then go 1jz or 7m toyota which are well documented.
  19. Well I did see a thread on here about modifying the sleeves on a set of s13 coilovers from I think Megan racing, so I know it's been done. All I was asking is if anyone knew if swapping in a stock set of s13 struts in the back would make an ok budget mod to hold me over until I can afford a better set
  20. I love s130s and anyone else who doesn't like them, fine more parts for me! I actually like the looks of the car stock but the front does leave a bit to be desired IMO but once I get money back into my account a new msa air dam with brake ducts will be going on. I would love to see a set of volk te37's on one just because I think those rims can even make a pinto look mean but cost $$$. Turbo swap for now until I can get my hands on a nice RB or 7m engine then life will be great. Also a nice thing is around where I live is a bunch of fiero fanatics and my z can embarrass a lot of the stock NA models, just need my turbo completely in to start hunting the ones with v8 Cadillac boat anchors. Also Suspension in the rear is kind of soft for my liking I heard of some people swapping s13 suspension in would that do the trick?
  21. Are You willing to post some pics?
  22. not looking to buy a stock unit. Was going to buy one from motorsport but want to see if anyone here has one.
  23. slightly on topic, i wrestled the idea of swapping in a maserati biturbo engine but those tings are massive
