  1. I think this may have been mentioned earlier in the thread, and I don't know if it's a work in progress, or something I need to adjust with my settings, but my subscribed threads (which are now watched threads) only sort by relevance of when I last posted in them, not when the last thread update was. Is there any way to change this back to how it was with the old forum? Other than that, I think this will be a great substitute for the old one.
  2. I found the ABR website that has the 280zx body kit. (The kit on the red overboost 280zx in the first post) http://www.abr-hosoki.co.jp/abr-s-130bodykit.html I e-mailed them inquiring about availability and shipping to the states, but never heard back from them. Maybe someone that's local to the area could talk to them? I'm sure I'm not the only one interested in the kit (though it's not cheap). Actually, I'm mostly interested in the rear wing, but nevertheless, still would like to find out more details about getting it over here.
  3. Damn, I would've taken that one in a heartbeat a few months ago, before I ordered the smaller version.
  4. '72 240z with bumpers: '76 280z without bumpers (but should have a black 240 bumper on in a couple of weeks): But seriously, that's something you should probably search for, as there are tons of nice s30s on this site, with and without bumpers.
  5. Aero-less - you won't look back.
  6. Pretty sure I'm on my way out of it It's more like an obsession that came with unwanted consequences as part of the package...and now that I look back, I see all the time I wasted with these cars, instead of making use of valuable, irreversible time. It's amazing how hindsight is always 20/20, and sad that it took this much for me to "snap" out of my little obsession.
  7. I guess I'll post a little follow-up. My life has changed in several ways since March, which is undoubtedly a culprit for the shift in priorities, but I am selling several Zs. I never drove a C5 because basically, I couldn't comfortably fit into them. I did, however, wedge myself into and drive a relatively new C6, and even though it was an auto, I was impressed with the effortless acceleration. So impressed that I nearly bought a magnacharged C6 Z06 replica (widebody, z51 suspension, etc). I think really the only thing that stopped me was that it was an '05, and still had the weak rear-end. I read about other smaller reliability issues with the '05s that made me question the purchase, but in the end, I figured I'd be better off saving that money for school. I plan to keep my widebody project, definitely, and my v8 280zx as a daily. The 280zx is still in the body shop, but after it's released I plan on installing an LT1, and if I'm not satisfied with the daily driveability of it, then I'll sell it, too, and buy a used Infiniti/Lexus/Acura as a comfortable daily. I feel like my heart isn't with these cars anymore...I put too much time into them, and now that I look back on it, see it as wasted time that I could've been doing something else with my life, even if it was visiting family for a weekend instead of working on these damn cars. So anyways, yes, I've decided to try to mix the best of both worlds with my 280zx - I'll be installing dynomat, a/c, EFI LT1, along with all new weatherstripping, etc, in order to make it a comfortable daily. If I can't achieve that, then I'll buy something modern. Simple.
  8. Yeah, I've seen them three times, and not once was I disappointed. I remember the first time I saw them was a few years ago, back when they were working on new songs for the Messengers album, and I couldn't believe how young they were! Amazing talent (to those that can appreciate it)
  9. Naw, he's just going to wait a few months before he shows us pics
  10. It's a photoshopped version of the controversial jdm mad-tyte stance Z, but it may give you a better idea. ps: go for it
  11. BLB is okay, and NKTD...meh. I'm not sure why they were referenced with AILD, if it was intentional.
  12. I usually don't post this stuff, seeing that most people can't stand these genres, but since the thread is leaning towards heavier rock / metal, here's some of the newer stuff I've been into lately: In Fear and Faith http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFmoLZWkvYc Still Remains Cry of the Afflicted http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juyjzTeq-B0 August Burns Red (been my favorite band for quite some time now) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07PBxKbzSFE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GALmUe-jPHo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qtk9c6ZGcM As I Lay Dying http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TB_D6jIqDf0 And yes, they're all christian bands...because I knew you were wondering.
  13. Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for sharing, and I'm looking forward to completed pics.
  14. Can you give details on the window extension? I agree, it flows really well with that car. Good job
  15. They are currently moving to a bigger location, so they have crap scattered out everywhere.
  16. Alright, made another stop by the shop today. They fixed the paint on the rear, and I think it looks better. Plus, for some reason, seems to flow well with the spoiler (to me anyways). I know a lot of people hate the f-40 wing, and I usually do, but somehow see my car as an exception to the rule. If I could find that spoiler that was used on the red Overboost 280zxt, I would definitely go with that one instead, but it's an ABR spoiler that I can't find anywhere, so unless I stumble on one, the f-40 will do. Again, it was at the end of the day, so it was still surrounded by other cars, but I was able to at least get a decent shot of the overall view.
  17. You could always hit up the junkyards if money is an issue...can't promise the longevity of the pcm, although I think if you use the updated spark plugs, you shouldn't have to worry about future damage to it.
  18. I vaguely remember something about that - I believe there was a TSB out for multiple cylinder misfires like that. But a general cylinder misfire would be something like p0301 - p0306; I believe your codes are more of an indication of circuitry malfunction. I don't know if you'll have any luck searching the net, but IIRC, the TSB wanted you to change the factory plugs, coils, and you could be looking at possible damage to the PCM, in which that would require replacement as well ( definitely not cheap, either). My cousin had this same thing happen to his Escape, and he ended up needing the PCM replaced (after replacing plugs/coils). I believe his was an '02 as well. I no longer work at the dealership, so I don't have access to the Ford repair manuals, but I'm sure you could find something on the net. The good news is that all of these things are relatively easy, labor-wise, if you're planning on doing it yourself. To get to the coils/plugs in the rear of the engine, just pop the intake manny off. I could have them off under 10 minutes, easy (well, with air tools) so it's not that big of a deal. And the PCM is right in front of you in the middle of the firewall, again, if my memory serves correct. I'm not sure how many miles you have, but with it being an '02, I'm assuming that the date/mileage has probably exceeded the warranty for the PCM, which is either 8yrs/80,000 miles, or 10/100,000. Most likely, since you're receiving MIL codes from several different cylinders, I would be prepared for a new PCM. You may get lucky...but don't get your hopes up that it's a cheap little fix. Either way, good luck.
  19. Four of them, actually. The '72, '76, '77 and '83. Actually, the '77 I just gave to my brother, since he's about to turn 16 - it was my first Z, so it's kinda cool I was able to hand it down. But, the '76 will be going up first, since I'm almost finished with it, and the '72 shortly after. Once I get my '82 out of the bodyshop (the one in this post) I'll drive it around for a while and determine if I like it. If I do, great, I'll use it as a daily. If not, I'll sell it too, buy a G35 or something, and just keep my '75 widebody project. I can't ditch the LSx - I'm soo close to having it ready for the swap. I was going to attend a couple of the cowtown Z meets, but the crappy weather kept me from going. I'd like to go to one soon, though. Other than that, I really don't know any other car meets that take place in this area.
  20. If they did it properly, they quoted you the time out of a labor guide. If that guide says 4 hours to replace exhaust system, that's what they'll quote you. So let's say that this is the 1,000th time the technician replaced that exact same exhaust system, and knows exactly what tools to use, which steps first for the quickest removal, etc, and it only takes him 2 hours. He did his job properly, quoted labor by the book, and that's how a mechanic can make a decent living. If on the other hand, it kicks his ass and takes the mechanic 6/7 hours to replace (lets say some bolts are too rusted and need to be heated to be extracted, or threads retapped, etc.) then you will still only pay 4 hours of labor. Some of you will argue that dealerships overcharge labor hours - if the technician is not being shady and writing down the correct labor hours, then he's not overcharging. The Chilton guides aren't always the most accurate, and they seem to cater more hours towards certain makes. For example, intake gaskets on a 3.0 Ford Escape call for 1.8 or 2.3 hours...something right along those line. Replacing those gaskets on a 3.0 Mazda Tribute, however, call for 5.6 hours, or around that area. They're both the same damn vehicle, with the same drivetrains. Most of the time, those books are pretty conservative, though. Generally when you take your vehicle to a dealership, you expect a quality job. They're the people you go to when you want your repairs done right. That being said, I've seen some crap jobs come in from other dealers, and some absolutely horrendous jobs from independent shops. First off, $70 is a pretty decent price for that. I don't know what all is included in that particular transmission service, but assuming it's simply a pan removal and drain the torque converter, yeah, parts + labor that sounds pretty fair. And even better if they're throwing in a code reading. It doesn't make sense to spend thousands of dollars on equipment that can read/monitor/program modules, just to give the services away for nothing. If you're having some other work done to it, then a lot of times they'll work with you (say if you're fixing a check engine light, and would like to know what the abs codes are, well, the diagnostic equipment is already hooked up).
  21. I'll let you know when I get the s130 up here. As soon as it comes out of the shop, I'm still planning on replacing the carb'd v8 with a megasquirted LT1, so it may still take some time. I currently have my 240zt up here, but you'll probably be seeing it on craigslist soon Sparks, I haven't been in Austin in a couple of weeks, but may be going down there this next weekend. I took a couple of photos of the car, but couldn't get any good angles of the rear, since it was at the end of the day, and mine was surrounded by all the other cars they're working on.
  22. I was thinking a sentinel off the Matrix, but lol, yeah, too much. I think the first header would be a great setup.
