  1. Awesome Zcarnut! you F-n rock man! So if i have a 77 stock 5-speed trans its probably the FS5W71A according to this sites rebuild guide so my part numbers would be DTS-BK104==>$ 76.65 (w/o syncros) and than DTS-BK104AWS==>$144.84 that doesn't seem very bad priced does anyone have any background with the kit? they mention that
  2. is there an updated link to the rebuild kit on this or anyother site i couldn't find it. a Part # would be nice too guys:mrgreen: ~J
  3. does anyone have any experience with this program? the page to download it seemed suspicious thats why i ask ~J
  4. DUDE DAERON YOU ROCK!! i didn't know they had an s30 version of the Xenon site serves me right for thinkin anyways i just got my FSM for my 87 from they're Xenonz31.com site its good stuff for any of you that haven't downloaded it yet it get on it its good stuff for any and all trouble shooting i'm feelin less noobish everyday thanks to you guys but a wise man admits he knows nothing and is willing to learn as much as he can and everyone on this site has contributed to a lifetimes worth of knowledge on a car its good to know the crazy other terrible things that people have done to cars besides me and done them with sucess more importantly! anyways i gotta download mine on my home comp when i get off work ~J
  5. super useful guides here! i'll need them soon! ~J
  6. This link wasn't working for me is there another one that can be posted up or can someone update this? Thanks ~J
  7. this whole thing should be a sticky in the brake/suspension section these links are amazingly handy especially if your looking into the effects upgrading your tires would have on your car! even if its an old post the links are still good! ~J
  8. This was an amazing thread the install guide link http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/s...stallfront.htm is truely a great guide this should be sent out with the links i got the Illuminas i hope its the same idea with the install! ~J
  9. i'm thinkin about gettings a set of these they're pretty low cost and they come in GunMetal i'm thinkin 16x7 would be big enough to give me room for the brake kit in front and in back but not be way over sized and they'll be less than a bill a piece for em so i think that would be a good way to get larger rims for not a too bit price i woulda got 16x7 steelies but i don't think they sell them for the z http://www.silverminemotors.com/product.sc?productId=17&categoryId=4anyways tell me what you think sense your hear ~J
  10. yea i don't think the 4x4's on the ear is a feasible solution at this point i think i'm over that but my next question i guess would be does it matter what year between 89-94 you get the 240SX calipers from? i was gonna just buy some new ones to go with the kit but i think modern motorsport kit already comes with a set if i'm not mistaken. i was reading the little "details" link on the page and i think they had some so yea is this true does anyone know off hand? i'll find out once i order them i suppose
  11. Oh yea i read that one thats a good post for EVERYONE to read MULTIPLE TIMES!! its where i got my ideas from actually i was looking at the total parts list with the Modern-Motorsports.com Rear Disk set and thats pretty good deal i think i'm gonna go ahead and order that package here in a few weeks when i can get some more money. Damn this little car's gettin some funds put in it, but its better than payin for parts for my freakin Prelude that thing is MAD expensive for everything lol. i got to many cars in general but thats a story for another day:icon56: i can't wait till everythings all restored and not falling off of it. i'm pretty sure thats a universal feeling for all owners of Z's
  12. dude heck yea man let me know how that works i was thinking of ordering that whole set up but wasn't sure about paying the $165 for the rear mounts. i don't know if this kit is both or if this is a piece but rear brakes are way needed about now i gotta get these swapped over like next check or check after that its gettin scary not being able to stop right :ugg:oh well a wise man once said "speed costs, how fast do you wanna spend" that was the greatest i read it on this forum too i believe i can't member what member wrote it though lol. ~J
  13. oh ok ok so the Vented 4x4 in the front with 240SX's in the back is the best way to with this job period right? i like my e-brake i don't use it often but i'd like to use it now and than it seems like it would be pretty handy! i've been reading about how you've got to set up an adapter with the 280 hand brake to make it reach further back so the 240 calipers don't drag thats what kinda turned me off to it. I guess an adapter is less hassle than no e-brake.
  14. Fixed it thanks for that Johnc I was a bit excited so I just ran on a bit excuse me but to the question at hand Is that a good deal for shocks and bushings? i mean its the best I've found so far but I'd figure I'd ask anyways so let me know what ya'll think i'll probably place my order tonight after i get off work. ~J
  15. I didn't know whether or not to put this under my other post or not but basically i'm looking to buy some new suspension and bushing kit for my lil 77. My stock ones are dead ten years ago and my bushings are all dry and dirt destroyed. This is a car i drive daily about 100 miles round trip everyday to work at least 5 times a week and i occasionally take it out and show my friends in there MkII and MKIII Supras what time it is. We drift a bit when it rains and we do some drag and alot of point to point stuff so i was thinking about getting the Tokico Illuminas and using my stock springs to keep my same ride height and replacing my bushings with urethane ones. I think that will help stop my car from slamming the ass everytime i make a hard launch or everytime i hit a change in the road. lol it gets kinda annoying besides its killing my brakes and my gas mileage cause i'm consistantly countring body role and torque steer so anyways i've priced around and i've found these guys brand new: http://www.gripmotorsports.com/pi~pn~tokico-illumina_adjustable_gas_shock_front-8663.html $111.15 a piece for the front BZ3012 and http://www.gripmotorsports.com/pi~pn~tokico-illumina_adjustable_gas_shock_rear-8664.html $115.15 BZ3013 the total is $ 485.80 shipped for all four shocks/struts and than here's ma bushing kit http://www.jegs.com/i/Energy-Suspension/355/7-18102R/10002/-1 $164.38 Energy Suspension #355-7-18102R The total is $650.18 for this job is this a good deal for what i'm getting? like i said i drive like HELL my average speed on the interstate is 90 and i drive roughly 100 miles 5 days a week besides whatever messing around me and my friends do after work and on the weekends. i think i got all my bases covered but i'm not sure so i figured it was better to ask and look like a dumb ass than not ask and look like a dumb ass lol. i was thinking about getting new strut mounts and tie rods and such but i thought i'd consult all of you on this and if this is a good deal and what else should i be thinking about getting that i'm not mentioning here anyways all input is appreciated thanks PEACE!! ~J
  16. So i've been reading about everybody and the different ideas for brake set ups and i like the 4 piston Toyota Pickup brake swap idea so my question is: If i convert my Front Calipers/rotors to the S12W rotors can i convert the back ones to them as well? I know about using the 240SX ones on them but i was thinkin why not have all four of them identical so i get better braking on all 4 sides. I'm intending on changing out my stock brake Master Cylinder to the 15/16 from the 79-81 280ZX i hear thats one of the better things to do with the upgraded brakes to avoid fade and spongy brakes. I currently have a regular ole' 1977 280Z with the stock N/A L28E 5-speed and nothing really modified besides the coil/cap/spark plug wires but she hauls serious ass and i'm upgrading my shocks to the Tokico Illuminas with the stock springs to retain ~ my ride height i figure after suspension brakes are a good idea especially cause my poor rear drums are six ways toasted and i kinda don't wanna waste the money buying new drums and shoes if i can swap it over to disc brakes and be able to use ma e-brake a little better anyways so now the back story is over the issue at hand 77 280Z + 4x4 Vented Brakes (S12W) in Front (probably M-M Kit for $360) + 4x4 Vented Brakes (S12W) in Rear so what would it take/is it feasable to have all 4 the same caliper set up or should i shut up and put on 240SX calipers like everyone else? if i can bolt them up i'd way way prefer that but i don't have facilites to cut my own brackets and i don't like welding out in the sand if i don't have too. Anyways any Input would be nice i appreciate it thanks! ~J
  17. Ok Ppl of Hybridz.org i come with a question!! what are some good seats to get that will fit/bolt right into ma S30 with little or no mods, lemme tell you my issue So i liek the stock seats they're light as thin and i dig the fabric but there's no support for my 200lb 5'1 ass and i'd like something that can support me better. Sense i'm a bit taller i need a seat that i can tilt the front up slightly and with some lumbar support cause i sit leaned back kinda and i tend to slide down the seat. i've been debating just getting another Z seat and just re padding it up and getting new skinds thrown on it but ifi can get something adjustable with some nicer fabric i'm into it! i've got a 88 prelude with some bitchin seats and i have a 87 300ZX with alright seats would either of those fit? i know the S30 is a tight fit so i figured i'd better ask and see what all you wize men/ladies have to say on the matter lol any input is appreciated thank you! ~J
  18. Just stuff a 6.1L Cummins in it you'll have turbo with mad boost capabilities and enough torque to rip your car to shreds as well as the mountain your rushing LOL!!!!! jk but wouldn't that be a sight to see! ~J
