This is a pretty killer idea.... i was wanting to hook up and inverter so i can just haul around a small combo amp and my bass so i can jam whereever i go! but this idea for a mountable, removable head unit with speakers is brilliant! I was going to mount a ten behind each of the seats and put new 6's in the mounts i have behind the driver seat and than i was gonna get a head with bluetooth and mount it under my seat so its all stashed. But this seems easier ~J

My Z Has been DD by me and before me my dad for almost 5 years in the 7 we've had it. She's given us alternator issues, brake issues, charging problems, you name it but everything on her is solid as a rock. The Speedo reads ~88k i don't know if thats hundred thousand or less but she runs as good if not better than my 03 Zx2. She's Got a hwy crusing speed of 90mph @4k rpm, and i put between 100-120 miles on her a day (5-days outta the week) Besides beatin all my little supra friends senseless! I've been on this latest routine sense January and i've only been broke down 3 times MAYBE, one when i needed tires, one for the u-joints, one time for wiring issue, but otherwise she's more reliable than my dad's 2000 Dodge Neon, more power than my 87 Z31 and as good mileage as my Zx2, how can you beat that? Sure she needs a lil TLC now and than, sure she like all Z's are homicidal crazy bitch cars but God i love ma lil Lady and i'd take her over my Zx2 any day! Its gonna be hell when i end up rebuilding the engz and tranz (WHAT WILL I DO!!!) But it'll be so worth it! Very few cars i know of can possess the type of Character, power, sex appeal, and fenesse all in one package. Maybe i've already burned up the receptors in my brain but i don't smell gas at all in my Z when i drive it. Got the Exhaust welded up good new wires and coil and a tune up and bye bye Gas Fumes! Now i just need a Shift boot so i don't have to see the road from INSIDE my car lol ~J

This may seem kinda silly but you might wanna check that your real tires are bolted all the way on and secure. I had a nasty noise issue with my car making a terrible grind grind noise after i changed by u-joints turned out the tire on the drivers side rear was loose and my rim was eating my wheel studs lol. it may sound silly but it turned out thats what it was. Just throwin that out there for ya. ~J

Stock Front Disc w/ 240SX in Rears?
Zerocell5688 replied to Zerocell5688's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
wow yea you've got great clearance. but i've got the regular stock 14" Steelies with Z Hub caps on mine :burnout:lol Think they'd clear or would that just be too damn close? i like the clearance you have on your 15's and your runnin on 205/50R15 tires right? ~J -
Wasn't halon banned in the 80s-90s cause it sucks the oxygen out of large areas, including peoples lungs, to put out fires? Well ♥♥♥♥, i don't think you'd have to worry about a fire than just make sure YOU've got fresh air and your set lol. I wish i had a Halon fire extinguiser when my mazda went up it would have saved me alot of hastle. I need to pony up and buy one already and quit being a lazy ass. Negligance with fire is far more costly than preparation it seems. ~J

Stock Front Disc w/ 240SX in Rears?
Zerocell5688 replied to Zerocell5688's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Yea drum maintainance is a pain i'm so not into dealin with it anymore. So the conversion is more for ease of use than performance? I can dig it that alone is worth the investment. My time is money and the less time i'm spending screwing around with car and the more time i can spend ACTUALLY using it and enjoying it is priceless.... for now... till the totals for pricing come in for everything lol than i can give ya'll an exact number. Did you have to change your rim/wheels when you upgraded the rear Miles? ~J ~J -
Stock Front Disc w/ 240SX in Rears?
Zerocell5688 replied to Zerocell5688's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
oh wow i just so happen to have a big Sledge hammer and a Big Torch i borrowed to do my u-joints.. hm.... I've heard of the nightmares of the spindle pin.... i'm not sure what it is or what the deal is but i imagine i may find out when i put in my Tokicos. I try to do as much as possible on the weekends so i can drive to work all week and make the money to keep putting it together. Its my only car so i have to be kool like Fonzi with her but i may end up having to go hat way. so you just took off the whole damn control arm off and took it to them? thats pretty kool! i'l just try beating and burnin it off. I wanna get those adjustable control arms for the rear from M-M but i'm a broke fool and thats totally not happening this weekend. anyways thanks for all the advice its really helping! This is why i keep on HBZ! ~J -
dude thats Effin depressing i had a similar incident happen with my old Mazda 626. I was Driving my dad to a Colonoscopy appt in Albuquerque and my car started sputtering and dying and generally acting itself a fool so i got onto the Gibson exit and once i got onto Gibson my dad was like "you don't know what your doing let me drive!" so i let him at it he ended up beating my poor little mazda the last mile to the hospital and finally the thing just dropped dead in the parking lot. So i get him all checked in and taken care of and call up my cousin who lived up the street to take me to the parts store to get a fuel filter for the car ( i had spark and new air cleaner soo....) i get my new fuel filter and got it installed (an effin pain if you've never changed a fuel filter on a FF Ford/Mazda you know my pain). So just as i finish getting the new one hooked up and ready to go they let me dad out so we go inside and get him and come back out not 5 minutes later and so my dad asks me is the car ready? and i tell him yea were about to test start it so we carry my dad to the car, he's TORE UP on anesthetics and pain killers, and we get everything ready to go i clean up the little bits of gas i see around and i have my cousin fire it up when i notice a little puddle on top of the distributor and as i tell me cousin "STOP" he kicks it and the whole thing went up like a small yeild nuclear device man! The whole bay caught on fire and me and my dad were standing right over the motor and we leaped outta the way and ripped off our shirts and started trying to smother the fire. I yell at my cousin to get a fire extinguisher and hospital security was across the way with a cop chattin away and they're just staring at us as my little blue mazda is going up in a big ass black cloud of smoke. I slam the hood a couple time trying to smother it and it doesn't go so we end up pouring all the antifreeze, sprite, dirt everything we can find to put this out. Finally we get it out, the MC is completely melted the intake mani, fuel rail, TB, all the wiring was melted it was a train wreck. What makes it worse the car was purchase BRAND NEW off the lot in '88 by my grandma and it was the car i grew up in and most of the car is in amazing shape 90k original miles all the interior panels working (at the time) a/c. It was a sad sad day. Not as sad as loosing a Z but it was a nice little car.... I gotta get that thing put back together already.... ~J

Zerocell5688 replied to FlatBlack's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
i've been thinking alot about possible getting a Mega Squirt i've heard they're relatively easy to set up and operate but everything on mine is all vacuum and stock . I was reading about the different type of injectors on here (green tops, brown tops,) and i was just out at lunch checkin some things out and my car has browns on the front 4 and greens on the back. The greens look newer so i'm thinkin they were replaced after the fact but whats the significant difference i think someone said on here browns were for "Terbeaux"'s is that true? or does it not really matter? the cars runs good, sometimes better sometimes worse but i figured i'd ask it anyone had any info on this sorry to thread jack but you seem to really know your stuff Flats anyways thanks! ~J -

Stock Front Disc w/ 240SX in Rears?
Zerocell5688 replied to Zerocell5688's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
i'll admit it i'm lazy and to be perfectly honest i can't figure out how the !!!! to get the rear drums off... i know f'n newbish.. i've had the car for like 7 years and we've NEVER done the rear brakes and i've been spending the last 3 weekends in here and i just haven't gotten to sorting it out. Drums are a freakin pain in general to deal with thats why i want to convert it cause i'm a damn lazy american and i wanna sexy lookin disc setup in the back! so i guess convienence and asthetics are my primary motivation. I have to get larger rims than the stock steelies to fit the 240SX calipers don't i? I can't 'member off hand. ~J -

I'm probably gonna have to go junkyard running this weekend to get new or rather new to me drums so i can save money for the good stuff! Poor old car deserves some goodness considering I put 100 miles a day on her lol. -

oh well that may have an impact on it . I'm supposed to be recieving my shocks this weekend so i'll probably be installing the 15/16 MC, new Hitachi alternator and new TOKICO ILLUMINAS!!! unless they screwed up and i don't get them till next week:rolleyesg anyways your still runnin the drums in the back currently right Stravi? Who'd you get your conversion stuff from? Just curious i like people opinions on the companies they get from they tend to REALLY help avoiding the screw ups. ~J -

I'm a broke fool right now like BAD BAD BAD maybe for cost effective-ness(is that even a word?) i should just rebuild thr drums $150-200 isn't as bad as $500 for sure but i'd hate to rebuild everything just to tear it off later seems like a waste but its cheaper than wrecking with NO brakes a guess lol ~J -
Stock Front Disc w/ 240SX in Rears?
Zerocell5688 replied to Zerocell5688's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
You may be right. I was mainly wanting the rear brakes swapped cause i effing hate dealing with the rear drums. the fronts seem to work pretty good but my rears are shot to hell and i hate how the ebrake operates except when i'm parking it, than it works great. My 15/16 that i got has the bleeders on the opposite side would that make a big difference? it came off a 79 manual N/A and its got the same mount pattern as my stock one so i figured it would be the same. I wish i had some pictures of it. I know the "stock brakes" are good enough for general use would it be worth it to rebuilt the drums or woud i be better off just spending the money and get the disks? I just got done spending $500 for shocks which isn't bad compared to what some of you have spent but for me thats a heavy hit and the "Full" Rear Brake Conversion Kit from Modern-Motorsport is $435 http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=&products_id=2 with rotors and everything but i don't think its got calipers and i've been having trouble finding a 240SX out here that someone hasn't stripped everything off of it. Thats the only thing holding me back besides over drew like crazy when i ordered my shocks thats life i guess. anyways i'll shut up now tell me what you think. ~J -

SAMICK!!!! I thought thats what is was (lol i said schecter) My First 5-string was a Samick Artist Series Gold-Top killer little bass till i warped the neck on it all retarded. Thats when i got ma Ibanez Soundgear Samick puts out some good product man and thats awesome you've rewired the whole thing. I put a 5 way switch on mine so i can pick between bridge or neck pickups (wtf on a bass?) with a single tone and single volume so i can control my "Vallium" lol which is something i rarely see bassists do its always MOAR TREBLE MOAR BASS MOAR VOLUME!!! I like dynamics it makes things more interesting ~J -

is that a PRS your Playing or is that a Schecter? lol Z-cars and Gee-Tars man its a beautiful world when you have both! like that Joe Walsh Song "Lifes been Good to me So Far" thats a damn purty Gee-tar you got there man and thats a damn purty Z too lol ~J -
ok so the issue at hand is i've been slowly rebuilding my Z getting things cleaned up and repaired (rebuilt stock halfshaft on pass side, new coil/plugs/wires/air cleaner/vacuum the works ) and i'm down to getting my brakes taken care of. I'm kinda a broke kid so i'm working on a bit of a budget. I'm wanting to get the M-M rear brake conversion kit and get rid of my crappy drums and get some discs hooked up on the back. I'm diggin threw U-Pull to see what i can do about getting me some calipers but my concern is can i swap the rear brakes the 240SX discs onto my "stock" Z with the stock MC or do i need to hook up the 15/16 MC first? I'm intending on putting the 15/16 i have in it already i'm just not sure if its totally necessary to do this right away of it a can wait till i'm ready to do the front swap to the S12W calipers. To my understanding i also need to hook up a brake porportioning valve when i go to the 15/16 with upgraded brakes but would i need that right away? I've been checking the FAQ's and all the posts i can but this is a little different so i figured i'd ask maybe someone else is in the same boat anyways thanks everyone PEACE! ~J

Well i can't speak anything about Behringer Guitar amps but my Ultrabass BX4500 head does amazing for my bass, nice fat tone but enough treble to cut threw crazy drummers and guitar players alike! I run it threw a 4x10" Hartke Top with a 15" Ross (by Peavey) bottom and it sounds amazing when i want to get crazy sub-harmonics going i hit the ultra bass button and hammer away it works amazing and i like how i can get the tone uniquely shaped depending on my mood. If your gonna bust out the tubes there is only one choice.... MESA BOOGIE!!!!!! the Mark IV tube is one of the greatest amps ever. My dad's has the Black Shadow speaker in it and weighs a small ton (considering its small as hell) and nothing gets sustain or pitch (or is it pinch?) harmonics like it and the clean is Rich and twangy and the lead is fat and thick. Not a Crunch Crunch Crunch but its unique enough not to sound like every Line 6 out there, lol. Nothing against Line 6 or nothin though. Peaveys are good chit man my dad's back up is my Fender Champion 100 and a Peavey Rage 50 and that Rage kicks it for a little tiny punky amp! I just say to hell what anyone else plays, play it for yourself and see if you dig it and if you don't like it forget it and move on. Or if you only like part of it do the true HybridZ thing and Chop that bitch up and grab what you need but thats just my $0.02 on the matter. lol. Nice to know i'm not the only Musician on HybridZ PEACE OUT PPL!!! ~J
