  1. 280ZForce: Thanks man! That gauge looks a wee bit small though ... Darn. Ah well, I guess I have just about two options. Either I get used to imperial scale, or - I learn to live with gauges that are somewhat smaller than the dash was designed for. Do you have any more pics of your setup? Oh, and PS: Sweden rocks!
  2. Should'nt the rims be about 2" wider? : )

    Mvc-878x

Looks like those rims could've been a couple of inches wider?
  4. Is NOONE using 2 1/16" gauges? Darn :C
  5. Sorry if I was unclear, I meant actual brightness - candela(?)
  6. Since I'm swedish, I'm accustomed to metric units. Autometer hates metric for some reason, and only have 3 series of metric gauges available. Fine by be - only, I can't find the ones I want in 2 5/8". I'm looking for these gauges: • Fuel level • Fuel press - bar • Oil temp - celsius • Oil press - bar • Water temp - celsius • Boost - bar I've managed to find most of them in 2 1/16: For example: ATM-4327-M, ATM-4337M. To get to the point: 1) Does anyone have the part no's for white face metric 2 5/8" autometer gauges? Are there any? 2) Does anyone have a picture of 2 1/16" gauges installed in a 240z? It probably wouldn't be too much of a problem to fit 2 1/16" in the dash since I'm getting it custom made from carbon fiber, but I'd like to have a look first to see if it just looks crappy : ) What do you guys think?
  7. Sorry, not lately. Still got heck of a lot of editing to do on a video that's supposed to roll on a big car show here in Sweden. Not sure if it'll go online - but if it does, I'll post the link here. I'm also waiting for a TIG-welder to come and patch some holes before I can wrap up the lead soldering. Times flies, uggh! If any updates, I'll post 'em here for sure! : )

  9. Wow, I'm really glad to get all this positive feedback! Thanks a million times to all of you! : ) Not lately. Been kind of busy doing other things - like documenting the Swedish Miss Hawaiian Tropic finals That, along with one of my sponsors DVD-project, and I was told by someone that I would get trouble in the future because of the left over solder prep-flux-thingy that most likely is hiding in some of the creases/welds. And, a rasp/grinder tore up a small hole that needs to be welded. So - the plan right now is to remove all the solder. Grind out all the welds so they're smooth as a babys butt. The hole that the rasp tore up will be welded as well as any holes appearing when grinding the welds. I don't want to take any chances since the prep-flux-whatever rusts like all hell if it's not removed. That I know now But then again, I told you - I'm a total newbie So, remember kids - always get rid of ALL the fluxie-thing after you torch it. And be sure to grind the welds down so that the left over fluxfluxflux has no place to hide. I'll re-apply solder after smoothing out the surface. I am looking forward to getting my hands on the PPG epoxy primer and having the car sprayed so I can start applying bondo/filler/caulk.
  10. Yeah well ... I might go for a stock restoration in 40 years when I'm 64 ... I'll get a new harness wired up' date=' interior lights will be bright white LED's and the taillights too (Red LED's though [and some white']). Headlights will most likely be somekind of HID/Xenon ... Autometer gauges, fuel cell, carbon dash/hood/roof, etc and so on. It's an ongoing project. Hopefully it'll last for some time, building is fun : ) If I would make a DVD it wouldn't have the same music as the online videos. Don't want to step too hard on the toes of copyright. And if I can't have the music, chances are pretty slim that there'll be a DVD ...

  12. Lead is the SHlT I tell you! Supposed to use something else? Why - because of fun signs like these? "So friendly to the environment, fish will jump up on dry land to eat it"
  13. Lead soldering in progress ... Before. During. After (..and No[!] It's not finished yet)
  14. dj paul: Thanks, fellow nutter I browsed through your pics and yeah, you did have some hardcore rust to deal with. It's starting to look alright though? It's 2 am over here, so I just swooped through the pics - did you use your original frame rails? Ummm... I don't know. I'll try acquiring a figure in the morning. Now it's sleepy time! Yay!
  15. Thanks guys! The vids will be on the move again pretty soon. Pretty funny that no-one noticed that it says "88" on top of the pistons, and 875 on the side of the box. This is 'cause of the guy who took the pics - he messed up the pictures of the 87.5 mm RB26-pistons, but the 88 mm ones for another car came out fine. Just thought I'd point this out... =)
  16. Some candy arrived at PBZ today! : ) Two mysterious boxes, I wonder what's inside? I have NO clue as to what's in this one ; ) Whaddayaknow! Pistons! : ) Yep, I'll be damned - PISTONS! Crower connecting rods... ...yum : )
  17. Doors will most likely be custom made from carbon fiber once the roll cage and new seats are mounted. Door sides will probably need a bit of adjusting for seat clearance. So no NOS or original door sides are needed. PDK Fabrications sell fiberglass dashes @ $450. http://www.pdkfabrication.bravepages.com/Dash.htm Don't know anything about the build quality though, but they seem ok?
  18. Thanks man =) I get good value for my money, that's as much as I'd like to share... : ) A couple of kilos perhaps, I dunno. It's still no problem lifting the car if you're two non-body builder persons, so I hope that it's not that much... The scale will tell once everything's done ; ) Which interior parts are extremely hard to find/very expensive?
  19. Wow, you guys got me thinking. But I think I'll pass on shaving the drip rails for now and leave it for a rainy day (ha-ha, errr ) .... The roof might just get a make-over later on *caugh* carbon *caugh* =) - - - - - - - - - -
  20. Umm.... No? I wasn't planning to anyway, why? Got any pics of what it looks like?
  21. Sweet dash! I guess it comes down to how many layers of wax you add before you start applying whatever you choose make the mold from. I'm not the expert, I don't work with molds and release agents and whatever.. I'll just shut up and let the video do the talking when we've come that far in the process =) Cheers!
  22. Yeah, I know him. Well ... The water. Hmm. I dunno. I was born pretty close to when Chernobyl blew up. Maybe that has something to do with it? [micro "update"] Screen cap from upcoming video, some paint and clear coat being added to the dash in order to make the mold for the carbon fiber dash. Dash will most likely be messed up when removing the mold (since the vinyl isn't attached that good in some places, etc) so don't get too angry or attached to the color of choice
  23. I did search, I came up with these two pictures: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=105454 Question: Does the RB25 gearbox fit the 240z transmission tunnel without any modifications to it? Besides the one mentioned in the thread above. Looking for more pics on RB25-installs. If you got 'em - please post 'em Thanks!
