  1. The "hook" is for lifting off the gas in case it would jam. That's what I've read anyway. Just couldn't find it on Tiltons web page now though :-r
  2. Thanks RacerX! : ) I too look forward to more pictures. All I do these days is wait for the middle of July to come. That's when my sorry I-dont-know-how-to-weld a$$ will get help from Stefan (paint guy) to patch up my front fenders and have him spray them and the hood with epoxy, and I'll take it from there. SCE will help out with fabricating the beams (correct word?) in order to have somewhere to mount the new seats (haven't arrived yet though) - but again, I have to wait till the middle of July due to their busy schedule. Hopefully I'll have my new fuel cap welded into a very unsuspected place as well... : ) The guy making custom flares doesn't have any time to spare either, not until the end of July. Sheesh! Wait wait wait : ) Luckily, next week, I'm hoping some of the missing bearings for the engine will turn up (not that I'll have a finished car to put the engine in, but still...) : ) Just dreaming; I was thinking of getting a set of these: Do you guys think it would be possible to fit the reservoirs in the cowl area? Due to regulations (no reservoirs allowed inside the car) they can't be mounted like in the picture above : (

  4. Anyone agree he totally rocks as "John Abruzzi" in Prison Break? : )
  5. There are still some minor scratches on it since I finished it in a hurry ... ; ( Anyway, I just used a nylon wire-brush to get the worst off, after which I used some 320 grit to get the worst scratches and casting imperfections. Carried on using 800 and finishing off with 1200. Used some metal polish on a textile, eh... polish wheel (whatever they might be called) to get the bling
  6. Yikes, flexing frame rails... Now I'm really glad I had my rusted rails cut and replaced : ) Now sporting new 9 gauge (3 mm) custom rails 2.36 x 2.36 inch (60x60 mm) I'm hoping my rails will be left out of the flexy-rail club. Great thread, picked up some ideas along the way Hope you'll post pics of the finished/painted install! Cheers : )
  7. More not-so-necessary blingin', just for fun : ) ...added some filler to the firewall to smooth it out. Still waiting for the people with welding skills to have some free time. *sigh*
  8. I like the sound of "pictures" : ) Looking forward to it!
  9. Whoa ... Nice err... Lack of metal : ) Looks like you got some work cut out (pun intended) for you! Buy some 18-20 gauge metal and get cracking! =)
  10. Nope. No water. I just used a 60-grit flap disc to grind the worst down, after which I loaded my trusty $15 orbital sander with some 120-grit to smooth out the worst scratches. When I thought it was smooth enough - I changed from 120-grit to 800 and went on back to work for a bit, until it was time for 1200. Used some polish on it just for fun, wasn't really necessary though since it was already pretty much mirror like. I think your work on the SU's will pay off more than the diff since it's not something you look at every day... (Not that you look under the hood every single day, but you get the point ) Good luck : )
  11. I love you HakosukaJD - thank's a million for the pics! : )
  12. Yay! Be sure to take lots and lots of pics : ) Good luck!
  13. These are'nt "ZG install pics" - they're "ZG installed pics" : ( I was hoping to see a more tutorial like approach. From start to end. Nice work though, looks great!
  14. Looks like it came like that from the factory! Great stuff!
  15. What's funny is that the actor (Peter Stormare) actually is Swedish ... : ) Some of you may remember his appearance in Armageddon - "This is russian space station!"
  16. Sealing is finished! Well, 98% at least. There's always some place overlooked. Main object today was to seal up the small gap between the floor and rocker. So I did, and every other tiny gap I could find - around the door openings, the hatch, windshield, etc. After that was done with, I felt like doing something ... Different. So I decided my ugly R180 diff needed some cosmetic surgery á la Bling. I had some 800 and 1200-grit paper laying around. Plus I found some polish. Whatever... : ) I might finish it and put it on Ebay, lol Aye aye Captain! : )
  17. Apparently someone thought that the driver side door should open a bit more - and used force to have it their way. Or maybe someone forgot the door was open - while reversing. Who knows. What I do know. is that this crap is gonna need some welding before it's powdercoated. No sh*t sherlock? Ugh. To tired to write more (6 am) : D
  18. Thanks for the positive feedback! Me love you long time! ; D Today I picked up some stuff from sand blasting. Powder coating awaits. And no - I won't be keeping the brakes. Thought I might sell them once they're restored though.
  19. Wow, $400 seems a bit steep. I went to a scrap yard and picked up some metal there. The rotisserie material cost me a total of: $225 If you need some inspiration, check this site out, it's where I got my inspiration from anyway. The friend I had draw the whole thing in a CAD program made some alterations to the base though. http://www.zparts.com/zptech/articles/restoration/phenley/rotisserie/index.htm Really looking forward to seeing more pics on this project - well documented Z-restorations get all my respect and admiration. Keep up the good work! : ) Oh, and if you want to see how the rotisserie was built, there's a... um... video of that as well. D/L it here: http://www.voodoo-people.com/~daz/mull/mull@garaget-vaggan.the.movie.avi Cheers!
  20. Enjoy | #15 Stream | http://www.voodoo-people.com/~daz/mull/wmv/mull@hugo15.wmv Thanks alot : ) Great to hear about your formerly dead engine! Say "Happy birthday" to it from me will you The truck you're talking about is pretty much fixed since a couple of months. I rented it from a friend who does'nt live nearby. In addition I prefer transporting the bare metal hull in a covered truck as you probably understand : ) The weather is a bit sketchy from time to time during spring here.
  21. How much do you want for those fenders/headlight buckets? Send me a PM and include a shipping quote to Stockholm, Sweden while you're at it : ) Thanks!
  22. Hahaha, yeah - it sucks to be me, or rather used to : ) Great to see more people taking lots of pics while restoring their Z! You should build a rotisserie, it makes "everything" so much easier. Do it! Either way you could probably do with a rosisserie when trying to get all the sand out of the car
