  2. im gonna start autoX in febuary when i get my permit so by the time school starts im gonna have about 7 months of practice. hehe
  3. i have seen many racecars with aerodynamic front splitters in the airdam. on a street car with a urethane motorsport airdam would this make a difference on the freeway?
  4. i heard that an exploding flywheel has the same punch as a hand grenade. since my car has a stock flywheel that has been lightened i was kinda concerned. what kind of RPM would this take to happen?
  5. a friend of mine has a 1965 mustang fastback dressed up to look like a shelby, and has got a 450 hp crate motor. i have a 1975 280z with Eibach coilovers, 33MM swaybars, urethane bushings, adj. shocks, a short throw shifter and a lightened flywheel. next year we are both going to get our licences and i want to get him and other people to get into autocross. but i want to beat him on the course, do you think i can do it?
  6. do you know where i can get titanium exhaust system for a first gen z car? or is there even one made?
  7. i was thinking that you would have to be a SCCA member but im not sure. one of the teachers that has a Z3 seems to do autocross everyonce in a while.
  8. sounds good to me. i would like to see that in a z
  9. i know you cant strip a 280z down to 240Z weight but the larger engine compensates for it. besides the 280 was almost as fast as the 240 and handles better.
  10. sure the 280 is 500 lbs heavier, but if you strip it out (carpet, sound deadening, AC, bumpers, ect) it can be just as good as a similarly prepped 240 if not faster.
  11. good for picking up chick even though it doesnt quite run, and im not old enough to drive. sigh again
  12. sigh, still in high school. the z is good for picking up chicks (hehe). i wish i had more money though.
  13. im thinking of starting a AutoX club at my school. do you guys think its a good idea or not?
  14. no i swear, before he rebuilt it it got so bad that it started falling apart . when he (the last owner) rebuilt it he paid for all that stuff to get coated so that it would last longer. i think i have the recipt somewhere in my house.
  15. i plan on keeping the car for a long time. as soon as the car is smog exempt im gonna get a rebuilt turbo engine and start building it up with bigger turbo's ect, and later maybe even a sequential transmission. yea the sway bars are 1", not two, my bad. i forgot it has a custom built four core radiator from Scott Performance. by the way, should i get a high performance cam or get a new paint job? (its kinda burnt out and that funky brown color)
  16. i got a 1975 280Z with ton of modifcations to the suspension. suspension: ground control coilovers on tokico lluminas, 2" swaybars with forged ends, all urethane bushings, front camber kit. tranny: rebuilt, teflon coated internals, short throw shifter exhaust: flowmaster muffler engine: new injectors i got all this for $600! the only bad thing is that it had a blown headgasket, which is easily fixed.
  17. i would go with earl sheib myself
  18. i odnt have one, but, i have seen some before. they should be strong enough and they are good quality. the fiberglass is almost an inch thick. i think.
