which engines do you think have the best sound? stock or modified. for me in no particular order ; *small block V8 *inline 4 boxer (subaru WRX) *straight 6 edit: flat 4 not inline , my bad what do the rest of you think?

does the heat shielding make the car hotter by letting more heat out? Am I completely off base here?

actually my dad wanted me to ask. When he first go this 280 2+2 he replaced the rubber shift boot because it had a hole and it was REALLY HOT inside the car. Its been a few years and its always been consistently hot inside. could it be a blocked up cat. converter, old heat and sound deading or were they always just hot inside? Also does the car really need the heat sheilding on the exhaust or does it just contribute to the problem? i dont mean hot as in no AC i mean soul soaking heat.

I looked at the springs on my ground control units in the front and all it had was a serial number and 02/97. What the heck does that mean? I have tokico illuminas on my car, are the spring rates too much 4 the shocks? The guy who put them on before the had driven it around like this for a few years.

my dad bought a bunch of old Road & Track Magazines at a swap meet today. In a couple of them they had the performance specs of the 240Z. The highest listed one was .77G on a 200ft. circle. Was is just the tires back then or did the early Z's really handle that bad? When we go driving in the backroads i noticed that the car handled good even before the new tires ( falken azenis w/ old struts, my dads 2+2). Could someone explain this to me?

i started working on the car today with my dad and had high hopes of what we could do. well it turns out that we lost SOME MORE FREAKING bolts! we spent an hour looking for the exhaust nuts and manifold washers. after a long and fruitless search we finally gave up and now ive gotta get more stuff from OSH and more to delay my car. the motor has already been apart since early summer and we are still only 1/2 the way through. Were does this stuff go? is there some sock stealing, bolt snatching gnome running around my house? now i have to go work on my mind numbing chem homework because its due tomorrow. oh well, i guess the frustration comes with the job. :|

yea all brown does look weird, but i painted my wheels and hood black. it actually looks pretty good

i got the full dash from MSA and used the glue that they supplied. it doesnt quite fit right though, the trip reset and the other small knob doesnt fit in the hole because it is over the left a 1/4 of an inch.

i hardly see any Z around here. just mine and my dads. there is a nice black 280 and one of the teachers at my school has early brown 280 like mine

i saw the article of SportZ with the black 280Z that they turboed with the stock motor. They said it did the low 13's when it wasnt even running right. how fast could a turboZ with a early 80's motor be with big turbo's, ECU, streetable boost, 3 in exhaust and pretty much everything else?

i saw a titanium muffler at pep boys the other day, kinda ricey but it was really light and pretty much straight through.

i have the midpriced flowmaster muffler on my car. when we got the car started before we changed the headgasket it sounded GOOD. nice and deep but not loud or buzzing like those ricey exhausts. i have had a chance to hear what its like at full throttle but it sounds good to me.
