No its for fitment purpose right now as I havent made up the mount that goes ont he pass Side. LOL just to hold it there while I mock up pieces HAHAHA god thats good! I should leave it there.... LOL sorta like a Flex Pipe mount HAHA:mrgreen: -
I was going to say waterpump...... but if you checked it was good then I had a faulty thermostat that was brand new. give your Coolant hoses a squeeze like your pumping a heart it will help remove air and rev her up and down as you fill the coolant youll notice it drop and rise... you'll spill some but at least youll get all air out.

Yeah plastic Ends. Filled with water then plugged one end and put a pump on other end pressured to 15PSI and it held all water with no leaks so should be good to go. -
SO last night I was messing around with Ideas to mount a smaller FMIC that the huge one I bought. I went to wrecker and found a Audi Turbo 1989 and noticed the FMIC was of decent size and very thick and had Same Side Exit Soooo... Heres after about an Hour of messing around using stock Jpipe ont he 280zxt and now Im back to work this morning finishing the last couple pieces.. should work fairly good. I am using the front Air Dam for the Lean and going to use a piece of 2" Wide x 1/4" thick steel bar as the Mount on the right side of FMIC to the front lower part of the Rad Support beam. Pics of what is so far the idea.

OK so I am trying to figure out why I seem to be stumbling off the line every so often with rich black clouds of fuel out the back end. I took apart my distributor and took my NA Z31 distrubutor and replaced the inner electronic thingy. Started up fine and got a good idle and not so much bog. then I went around town everything seemed good. but after I left parts store it seemed like im running on 5 cylinders.. Dose anyone know if the distrubutor internals on a Z31 NA should still advance timing on a 280zxt. I figured the ECU controls advance dose it not? I did turn up the fuel pressure to 60spi for about 5 seconds and then back down to 36ish as I was adjusting it so I pulled plugs and of course they are blackend so I figured i prolly fouled em and with the short drive they just got a bit to sooted. Gonna clean them up and try again. Also from an old post bernarrd said I can just disconnect my O2 but I did that and it runs really rich obviously. SO with my 300zxt ECU swap I have always had a rich start and horrible gas milage but I have been running stock O2 the entire time so should I convert it to the 300zxt O2 will this fix my bad gas milage and poor stumbling starts . Cause I think I have done just about everything at this point Changed parts: Tps temp sensors thermostat oil changed coolant hosing replaced stock fan with electric used manual FPR and stock FPR plugs Wastegates only thing I havent swapped is MAF and ECU MAF dosent seem to do anything when you turn the dial could it be pooched? and causing all these issues... but then would it run fine on highway and around town if MAF was pooched....... I have a NA 300zx MAF from my 300zx so should I try swapping those? any ideas peoples... Removed all idle control stuff I use idle screw now from 240sx throttle body plugged off EGR and anythign else I didnt need according to afshins post about the 300zxt ECU swap only thing I havent done according to swap was the O2
-
And BTW I measured up the motor width and length as well as were the oil pan sits and it looks like it should just go right in there. I kinda have a lasting memory that the 240SX chassis was based off the 300zx wasnt it? I mean if you look at the 89-91 240sx and a Z31 beside eachother they do look similar in shape.. But hey its a Custom build so whatever needs to be done will be done!
-
yeah mine isnt filed or made pretty yet but it was made by me for a total of $15 CDN same day shipping same day creation LOL... its the fun of the process for me. But damn thats one SHINY piece of Metal!! hehe and yes I did enlarge holes when I made em for that reason. I also plan on making slight cuts like 1mm deep sorta like the Aluminum cooling towers on a PC chip ya know..? for better heat dissapation. it will be wierd but fun im hoping for a FALLOUT 2 Look. should be neat

I just wrote Jatco and said since I have been supplying their transmission with nice new ATF for 28 Years and their construction has lasted as long as it has. Could they build me a 5 speed auto Prototype =-) haha Awaiting their reply LOL.. The guy who opens email is prolly going to be like... "uhhh 1981.5 I was just born then! wtf is a Datsun.. *delete email*"
-
So I wrote Jatco and asked them to build a single prototype auto 5 speed transmission for the 280zxTurbo HAHAHAHA lets see what their responce is LOL! I said hey it lasted 28+ years and is still going so why not build another with 5 gears just cause you can!! lol this should be a riot!

ok so went in town and got some 1/2" by 3" Flat Bar Steel. took the old Gaskets from the exhaust manifold and a can of spray paint. Laid out the flat bar sprayed over the gasket and Vwala imprint of where I need to drill heheheh... Then I proceeded to cut the center hole which is now 1 3/4" and the ports on the L24 err I mean KA24DE are 1 1/2" so when I finish porting those exhaust ports Ill port match to just under flange size to make sure there is no pressure trying to escape out the flange. I then welded 1 3/4" Exhaust piping to the flanges a good solid doubled bead LOL and the pipes extend out about 3" at various angles. So I plan on going 4 to 2 to Turbo Flange so it hits the turbo in a V pattern. Then I want to have a 2 1/2" Flexpipe (ughh $60 dollars!!) from turbo to under car and make a External Wastegate I guess and then the rest is easy lol. So more pics later tonight as I weld weld weld away! got some serious flash!! gawd I hate my welder!
-
Well yeah stick would be nice. I have my 5 speed from my NA 280zx and now finally a 280zx was in the wrecker so I grabbed all the clutch master/slave stuff and the peddle so a weekend is all I need I guess..... but also I hear the na clutch is to small for turbo app but couldnt I just get a stiff ass stage whatever clutch it should do the job shouldnt it. Cause Act makes a kit for the 280zxNA for 300hp so I figure why couldnt I just get the FIdanza Flywheel and a Stiff Act clutch kit... I know the diameter is 225 onthe na and 240 on the turbo. sooo has anyone used a NA 5 speed on a turbo?

Yes do you feel it.. do you feel the love!. I to was flamed, told to open my eyes and look. Its just love baby.. LOVE lol Everyone is just mad at their cars dont take it personally... Anyway if you first open hybrid you will notice mid way down a section that says MEGASQUIRT ^^^ yes I say flat gave you the link. Also another helpful thing is I found by putting in the tiny numbers of the injector and putting like "543212345 CC rating?" on google it found me a couple sites that list like 200 injectors, their flow rates and if they are High or Low imp. So!! Furthermore yes there are tons of injectors. and alot can be made to fit with some custom fabrication and alot will just fit maybe with a different rubber seal. Which can be found as well all over from hardware stores to parts stores. Just bring them the injectors and size up hosing/seals/clamps. I found boring bit for $40 at my local parts store that with good hand eye Co-Ord. I was able to increase the injecotr inlet hole on my manifold by a couple mill wide and a couple mill deep just enough to fit a different type of injector. I also started buying Bi-Metal Circle cut blades, drill bit sets, and steel to fabricate tons of things. basically you can make anything if you just sit down look at what your tryign to do then try, try, try again and sooner or later you have your own custom made stuff. Fun process unless of course your welder decides to be a piece of Sh*T and you throw it across your garage and smash it with your 5 pound hammer until its guts are exposed and sparks are flying and you set some shop towels on fire...... but thats another story for another day... just scroll through the posts and you can usually find everything you need in here, and if you dont.... Build it!
-
yeah its stock Except for the intake mods and ECU change ( 240sx TB, 300zxt ECU, Maxima MAF) but other than that yep bare stock even springs and suspension lol and stock Auto transmission of Lameness.

Is it possible to make my 280zx an AWD car?
RUZN replied to sanders8800's topic in S130 Series - 280ZX
I was going to say why not just get a Eagle Talon Setup. Take all the driveline stuff and make your mounts. The engine is small the transfercase would prolly all fit in the engine bay you'd just have to prolly make a shifter relocation kit and custom driveshafts lol Your talking lots of money or tons of build time lots of money and friends that are fabricators! lol Just buy a Skyline GTS-T 4 -
the 280zxt Auto is supposed to have a overdrive button? Or the maxima? My 300zx N/A auto has the overdrive button So dose anyone know if the 280zxt Auto should have more than 3 gears? cause you would think they would make a cars transmission do more than 100kmh t 3.5K RPM I mean its killing my fuel milage LOL it just seems like something has to be wrong why would it be at Highway speed doing 4000RPM thats insane
-
wasnt sure either was going to check now. But having 3 gears sucks lol burns to much fuel.. Example with this automatic at 3500RPM I am at 100kmh instead of other auto's like the z31 where I am at like 2500 or so even 2250. I always thought somehow this transmission is missing a final drive gear. anyone else seem to just have exactly 3 gears
-
what about the gear box part of it can it bolt to the back of the 280zxt Bellhousing?
-
Hey guys and gals I was wondering if anyone knows if the Bolt pattern is the same for a Z31 N/A Automatic Transmission is the same as the L28ET motor. Just need some extra gears on the highway Gas is getting expensive again lol just trying to save some time
-
So I started a mockup Flange and Pipe for my Project 300z (Spec-SXT) hehehe and heres the first flange-pipe. So far so good Fits perfect seals nice and after a couple hours I should have a basic Manifold constructed Again Mock piece to see fitment or flange

Prototyping Z31 Exhaust Manifolds with Turbo Mount
RUZN replied to RUZN's topic in Z31 Series - 300ZX
yeah I'll be doing the twin turbo thing as well over the next couple months so I'll try and post pics as it comes along. Also started a new project with the KA24DE motor that I will now put in the Z31 As it is cheaper to build right now than my VG30E and I need to do more repairs to the VG30E anyway and more building soooooo its kinda on the backburner for the next 3 weeks -
this is what I needed to hear lol. I remeber reading something about it dosent clear the Swaybar or something by 1" inform me please.. just tearing down the motor now so cleaning it all Making Manifolds and Making a new Air intake Plenum Also using MIZUMO motors Full engine Kit (All seals gaskets ect ect and Rings NPR) $285 plus $50 shipping 2 day
