I currently have their aero kit on my car. It was installed by a body shop when it was painted. I have a 280 so it got rid of those ugly crash bumpers and should of made the care a bit lighter. Well worth it IMHO. ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ

Thanks for the info guys, Is the inaccuracy a problem industry wide or is it just Auto meter. If it's just Auto meter makes me wonder why so many people have them in their car or are not aware of the inaccuracy. Pete-are the resistors difficult to install and are they needed on all the gauges (oil pressure, fuel, etc.)? ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ

Drax, You sound like me when I first got mine in the mail. Kind of like Christmas huh? It was real easy to set up and get running. Enjoy!!! ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ [This message has been edited by Arif (edited February 15, 2001).]

I'm looking at replacing my stock gauges and decided to go with Auto Meter. I'm trying to get a feel for what everyone else has installed in their Z and whether or not they like the way they operate, their accuracy, and installation. I haven't decided what gauges I can do without but probably the volt meter and water temp (i can use the SDS for this one) will be the first to go. I plan on using new fuel, boost, oil pressure gauges in the stock location. Does anyone know where I can buy a gauge pod that fits a 280? Also one dumb question or confirmation: the guages on the Z are electrical and not mechanical right? ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ

I'm a turbo guy what do I know about V8s ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ

Check this guys Z that he has for sale. Notice the side pipes on it, not too bad looking. http://www.zcar.com/classifieds/class_autos/1885

Does anyone have a set of adjustable sway bar end links like the ones that MSA sells? Does it make a lot of difference or should I just get eurothane bushings? ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ

I have the TPS that came with my SDS. I finally got around to bolting it on the TB. When the throttle is moved the entire unit does not move. After this mod the engine ran like doo doo (new technical terms). I then removed the bolt and let it hang now the engine responds great. So after all this my question is.... does the TPS need to be solidly bolted to the TB or should I leave it mounted on the TB while still allowing movement of the entire TPS? ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ

Adding wieght to my car... belive it or not!
Arif replied to Evan Purple240zt's topic in Miscellaneous Tech
Evan, Sounds like that is going to be a great system. When I first bought my z 10 years ago I bought a carpet box with 2 10s Rockford Fosgates. I got rid of them a few months later as there wasn't enough room to fit anything else back there. Now I'm looking for a more stealth look like you are fabricating. Be sure to take pictures of the process so the rest of us can steal some ideas ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ -
Milo, You found my hiding spot. When is the next Z meeting? The website hasn't been updated yet? email me. ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ

Looking for any type of similar heat shielding material such as Thermo tech to wrap a small part of my turbo manifold. I don't need a large piece (no larger than 1ft X 1ft)so the stuff they sell at Summit for $80 is out of the question. Any suggestions? ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ

The ECU on the 280s do not control all the electical equipment in the car. I replaced mine with a SDS and had no problems. ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ

Thanks guys, On the 280 tranny there is a sensor close to the fill plug. I unscrewed the sensor and filled it up that way. ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ

Morgan, I figured someone who knew the answer would have replied by now. Contact Carlos at Racetech (321) 229-6140. When I ordered mine I told him what type of car I had and he sent the correct size water sensor. ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ

Simon, Thanks for the update. I have a custom fuel rail and I think those injectors will work. Have you found out what year and model RX7 those injectors came out of? Also will the nipple end that goes into the intake manifold fit without any mods? ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ

Thanks Simon, will you be posting pictures or a how-to on those injectors on your website anytime soon? BTW cool website, great attention to detail. ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ

What types of mods do you have to make so that they fit? ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ

Havok, The l28 is an relatively easy swap and with the SDS the job is even easier. My prior experience with engine swaps was nil. I did a lot of reading like everyone here is suggesting and decided what I wanted to have. Be realistic with yourself, some folks say they "only" want 230-250hp and use mostly stoock stuff, but the need for speed ultimately catches up with you. When I started my swap I knew I wanted 375-400 hp and run 11s in the 1/4 mile. Then I researched other cars that were either already there or on their way to that mark. Bottom line is if you want a really fast car build it that way from the start and you will save money in the long run.

I drained my datsun tranny this weekend. After it was drained I tried to remove the fill plug and can't get it out. Does anyone know how to remove this thing. I used WD40 and it still won't budge. Any suggestions? ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ

David, Check out their website at www.sdsefi.com It contains the price list, the features that are available, and a lot of tech tips. I have the SDS and for me it was the best system for my needs. It doesn't require a laptop nor does it have a lot of do dads like the electromotive. I'm not bashing others systems I just know my limitations with the techno stuff required with the other systems to get them running properly. With the SDS you just need a basic knowledge of engines and you are able to hook it up and tune the system. Also do a search on engine mgt systems as this was discussed in great detail a while ago. ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ [This message has been edited by Arif (edited January 07, 2001).]

I got my car running decent, now I want to take care of the annoying things like repairing my fiberglass front air dam. Does anyone have any tips on repairing fiberglass that has pieces cracked off from hitting curbs ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ

Roamer, I ran across this article written by the folks from Bell Engineering. It discusses their decision on NOT going with a supercharger and instead using a turbo on a BMW M3. According to them the SC is not the answer to low end power as many of us think. Just something I found and thought it was interesting. http://www.bellengineering.net/BMWM3Turbo.htm ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ

Thanks Mark, Now if I can find a new gasket for the front cover on the head. I don't know why nissan even put a plate there. It serves no purpose but to look at the chain (kinda like a peep hole)

Thanks guys. I did buy a dremmel with the right angle adapter yesterday. I drilled too much material (the bolt and the hole). My next step will be to buy a tap and dye set to regroove the hole larger than it was originally.
