  1. How did you fit those 235x45x17 on your Z? If you used spacers (I am sure you did) how thick were they? I am about to purchase rims that are 17x7.5 with a 40mm backspacing (Honda type rims) and am looking for the right tires that would fit. I did a search and your rims were the closest in size not on a ZX. Are you running the same size on the fronts as well? I was looking at 215x45x17 Kumhos but didn't know 235s would fit which would give me a greater contact patch. BTW I don't have coilovers either.
  2. Check out the auction below. I am not sure about the quality of the header. Looks a bit homemade...wonder if it works. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2405706761&category=33631
  3. I found that picture while I was looking at the GA Z club member rides page. The guy who owns the car is Steve Huetter. I emailed him but haven't gotten a response yet. Katman...Do you still make them? If so how much do you charge?
  4. Does anyone know who sells these strut braces or are they a custom job?

    New Car Ideas

Since you threw in the BMW consider test driving the Nissan Altima with the V6. Great car, lots of horsepower, handles like a sports car, and has enough room to fit my 5 month old son and all his accessories (stroller, car seat, bags). Probably not a concern with fitting baby gear but you get the point ref. the interior space. You should be able to find one with a V6 for around $24K and trust me it is worth every penny. It's the car I drive when I don't drive my Z.
  6. What type of rims are on the that silver Z. Very clean look!! I need to move to Japan.

    npr mods

Hoke I don't have the big crash bumpers on my Z so maybe that is why they fit. I could not mount the IC the way you have yours because the radiator was in the way. I'll takes some pics of it tomorrow and email them to you.
  8. Mat, What is the quality like? Seems like a lot of Chinese companies have started selling tires lately. I will be buying a set of 17 X 7 Konigs and was looking at the available tires. They had those Kuhmos selling pretty inexpensive but I was wondering how they ride. Let us know if they are worth it or not.

    npr mods

Storm, Just to add more confusion to the responses you recieved, I used the method that Scottie suggested and it worked perfectly on my 78 Z. Not sure if it matters but I bought the madrel bent IC piping from him as well. The mod for the IC can be done and those ICs are great if you can get your hands on one.
  10. Anyone using Eibach sport springs have an opinion on them? I am looking for springs that are firmer than the Susp. Techniques that are way too soft for spirited driving. Thanks
  11. Does anyone know how to figure how far off my speedo will be if I go from 195x70x14 tire combo to a 215/45/17 AND change from a 3.54 to 3.7 diff. I can't find any calculators on the web that allows me to change tire sizes and diff ratios to check the accuracy of my speedo. Someone put their Math/Engineer degree to work on this one. Thanks

    SDS and boost gauge

240hoke, Thanks I am going to buy another boost gauge and see if that helps. Man I wish I would have found this out before I ran at the track, I could have turned up the boost more

    SDS and boost gauge

What going on Tim!! I wish I need some Tiger Woods money. I am stationed here for about two years and will be returning to the Republic of Texas, oputside of Dallas. You are right the Greddy gauges are in bar however to reduce the confusion I refer to 1 bar as 14.7 psi. I think I am going to replace that gauge and see if it reads the same as my SDS. How is the turbo coming along?

    SDS and boost gauge

Went to the Hybrid Z event at Reynolds this weekend, first time at a strip. I noticed that my boost gauge and the Manifold press. are no where near close in terms of values. For instance my boost gauge read 15 psi and the SDS read about 8-9 psi. I didn't think they would be identical but this seems way out of whack to me. Any thoughts or suggestions? BTW it is a greedy boost gauge. Thanks.
  15. Could not open up the video. BTW I realy like the first Z you owned!
  16. Has anyone else heard that Tokico has discontinued their line of springs for Z cars? I got an email from Shox.com that they no longer carry them. I am currently using Motorsports springs and they are way too soft. Someone else on this board said the ST springs were soft as well so I don't want to go with those.I get excessive squat unless I put my Illuminas on there hardest setting. The car will be used 80% street driving and 20% drag racing. Any suggestions on alternatives?
  17. Does anyone know where I can get a complete CV joint kit for a 78 280 w/ a 3.7 LSD in it? I wnat ot replace my current U joints which have a lot of slack in them. Also is there a website on how to do the conversion? Thanks. I want to get this done before the drag races in Reynolds, GA!!
  18. CNBC did a clip on the SVT arm at Ford. The reporter brought back a connecting rod to the studio (show and tell). An anchor asked him what the connecting rod was used for and he said it connects the piston to the DRIVESHAFT! Know I am trying to picture what a rod that connects to the piston and runs down under the car to the driveshaft and the destruction it would cause after it turned at say 6000 rpm. Too funny. I think they should stick to investment advise and leave the auto stuff to Speed TV.
  19. ZR8ED, Not sure about the fuel rail however I did install the Mercedes 450 injectors. After doing a search on them I found a site that had bosch injector flow rates and it had those injectors (same part #) flowing a lot less than everyone here thinks. If my memory serves correct they were 380cc instead of the 420cc that folks were claiming. I would do a bit more research before going to your friendly auto shop. I also went to the Z31 website and can no longer find the article that talks about using the Mercedes injectors instead of buying JWTs. Do more research than what other people say and you won't get hosed. Sounds like the Supra injectors are a better way to go if the flow rates are accurate.
  20. I lowered my Z with MSA springs (the rears suck) and want to know how to correct the geometry of the suspension. I went to get it aligned and they said it was way out of tolerance and suggested the frame may be bent, I think it has to do with me lowering the car and the sagging rear springs because they bottom out frequently.
  21. Rags, Unfortunately I had to hack up part of the radiator support in order to get everything lined up. You might be able to use the original holes but it is a tight fit.
  22. Great site and a even greater Z. Off topic...When I try and save a mpeg vid I right click on my mouse and the "save target as" can't be selected. What is up with my computer???
  23. Hoke, The reason why the passenger side is modified is because the radiator would interfare with the IC piping. It is not that expensive to get it welded like Scottie did on his (and the way I did mine). Honestly, I don't see how it would work if the passenger side outlet was in the original position.
  24. Tim, I think a 8.5:1 cr is the max you would want to run on a street motor. I haven't tried a cr that high however from what I learned from other folks when I was building my motor that is close to the max. Just my .02 I am running a SDS and for the fuel map I just program in 1s at any rpm over 6250. Definitely find out why you are having fuel delivery problems. I traced mine to a bad bosch fuel pump and fuel regulator. After those were replaced the motor really came alive.
  25. Tim, How's it going (Met you at the Z convention in S.A.)? I went with 88mm JE forged pistons which brought the cr upto 8.0. If memory serves me correct they read 160 or 170 across the board. Haven't had any problem with them and have had the motor in the car for over a year. What are you plans for that new motor?
