I can hear the fuel pump working. I had the starter tested and it is fine. The weird thing is I don't get anything when I turn the key. Not a click from the starter or nothing. I had the alt. tested also and that wasn't it. Could the ign. switch work in the "acc" pos. and not in the "on"? How can I test that?

Ok. The wife is back from Korea and I am somewhat relieved of mommy duties so now i can work on my Z again (does gas stay good for a year with no Stabil . I didn't think so. Back to the problem at hand. I have a complete SDS system with a 280ZX turbo motor. The car won't start or turn over at all. When I turn the ign. switch the lights come on and everything works in the "on" position but when I turn it to crank I get nothing. What do you guys think it is? Help!!

OK I majored in accounting and not electrical engineering. How do you test circuits with a multimeter? I am trying to check my battery, fuse block in the engine compartment, and the alternator (but I think it has to be running in order to check the alt.) Also where do I connect the leads pos and neg to in order test these circuits? Please provide as much detail as possible. What setting does the mutlimeter have to be set at in order to test these items? The one I bought from autozone has DV, ACV, DCA, hFE, and 10A settings. The directions suck as they don't tell you what each one is for. I already blew the fuse screwing around with it. I figured I better stop before I fry myself or my Z. Although if the Z was fried I wouldn't need the answer to these questions.

Car still won't start. All the electrical accesories are working (radio, wipers, lights, etc) but still not getting anything on the ignition side. I did get a spark when I tapped the starter with a screwdriver but nothing happens when I turn the key. I hear a clicking noise from the passenger side footwell. Everything works except the car won't start. I even retraced my steps when I installed the slave cylinder. Everything seems to be hooked up right. Any other ideas?

It been awhile since I posted and seems even longer since I have drove my Z. With a baby and a wife in Korea (dual military) don't have much time for the Z. Anyway I have a strange problem that I can't seem to diagnose. I replace the clutch slave cylinder on my Z. Before I tried to bleed the system I tried to start it up and I got nothing. The car doesn't even try to turn over. What could cause this?I have an SDS system on the car but I don't think that is the problem. What tells the starter to turn? I saw the ignition module on the passenger side and thought that might be it. Any suggestions?

Denny..you should spend more time working on the car instead of.......j/k. I've even seen racing baby seats at Babies R us. I think it had a 3 point harness and it looked like a Recaro seat.

Thanks for the compliments. It is a 280Z. I only have one rear angle shot of teh car but it was taken a few years ago before it was lowered and ofcourse the new rims. I'll see if I can't add it to my album on this site. I wish it was my daily driver, but I usually drive my new Altima and the Z on the weekends or when the weather is nice here in GA. At the current moment I am adding a new mod to the car stay tuned!!

Finally got the correct set of lugnuts for my rims ($40 for the set ouch!). Now my speedo is accurate and no more bottoming out! BTW the rims are 17" Arceo Dynostar with Kumho 215 45s. I have weird problem that I think I know what is however I need a second opinion. I have a stock 280zx 5 sp tranny with a Centerforce DF clutch. When I take off from a complete stop in first gear the car feels like I am in 3rd gear. It clatters until I get above 2K rpm then I don't have as much hp as I used even though I am seeing boost on my guage. Also, this problem comes and goes. Any suggestions.

Was it just me or did that it have "zcar" written on the side? Anywho that is one awesome toy with a sub 3 second 0 to 60.

Yeah I thought about those fake cavalier brakes, the ones that are cross drilled 8) . The car stops realy well (Toyota 4x4 brakes up front) so like you it will be just for looks. I do need the CVs though because the u joints are living on borrowed time. I figure if I can survive on a diet of ramen (sp) noodles I will save enough money for all these upgrades. Hey ZR8ed I see your "other" car is the same as mine. I have a white 3.5 Altima. That is one quick car and a good substitute for the Z (if there ever was one).

My new rims recently arrived in the mail. I took the measurements for the spacers and while I was under the car I looked at the drum brakes and said "you know...these 17 in rims are going to make those drum brakes look silly" then I also thought while I am upgrading the brakes and wheels how about that CV upgrade I have been putting off? What started out as a wheel/tire upgrade will end up with a much more expensive rear end upgrade. Oh well as my wife says that car will never be done. She is probably right. Did I mention Ross is my new best friend.

Just a test fit but I think they will look pretty decent. What do you guys think? I know they look a little bling bling but I like the way they look and not something you see on too many cars. Try JE pistons. I had my custom made and it took awhile to get them back. They looked so good I wanted to put them on my desk as a display. They even came with blueprints in case I needed to replace one. If my memory serves me correct they were about $750 however they might be cheaper if you deal with them directly instead of using an engine builder to order them through.

I don't know why I think that is funny but I do. At least you don't have to worry about spilling ashes everywhere.

Just ordered my new rims and tires. Man, was that a lot of change (Not as much as ZR8ED) I just dropped. Can't wait to get these ugly rims off my car. BTW- The rims are 17X7.5 and the tires Kumho are 215x45x17.
