  1. I have heard so much about why not to get these, but if it usually works and when it doesn't it flickers, would that be an easy loose connection fix?
  2. Can I drop a Nissan Turbo 5-speed from an 87-89 into a 84-86? Can I put a the entire LSD housing from an 87-89 direct bolt in to a 84-86?
  3. What I'm thinking is at $1000 bucks either car is it worth another 6-800 for the turbo car?
  4. Do I want to go for a nice 84 Turbo GLL model with 140000 miles or a GL NA model with 200000 miles? The GLL one I am looking at is nearly perfect except for needing shifter linkage fixed, the GL runs and drives but I dont know about the overall condition... Both 5-speeds...
  5. This is about an 84 300zx 5-speed turbo Would it be worth having a shop repair the shifter linkage or have a used tranny dropped in?
  6. Its a bone stock 1984 turbo 5-speed GLL, so leather and digital gauges. He said that there are air powered shocks and he has the part that needs to be replaced... I dont know what he is talking about...
  7. How hard would it be to replace a dowel pin in the 3rd-4th gear linkage? Is this a "drop the tranny" job or a "pull the center console" thing, or could I just get under the car and feel around till I get it?
  8. I was pretty sure that only 87-89 z31 turbo had LSD's but this guy is telling me his 84 z31 turbo has one and he can tell via the VIN...? He also said it needs an air compressor for the air suspension, is that something these had?
  9. When I started the car the tach jumped up to idle and then no matter what I did I couldn't get it to move except to 0 but turning off the car.
  10. Those are manual aren't they, I want to be able to change it from the stock switch in the center console...
  11. How bad is it if the tach goes up to whatever at idle but stays there and doesn't move until you turn off the car? When I went to look at the car there is some kind of rattle coming from the front pulley area, he thought that it might have been the fan? Where can I get replacement electronic adjustable shocks or rebuild kits?
  12. Yes I left the injector in. I pulled the spark plug and cleaned it then put it back in and unplugged the electrical connector from the injector. (if injector is working properly then it shouldn't open or operate). Then disconnect the coil so the car wont start and turn it over a few times. Pull the plug again, if there is gas on the plug with the injector unplugged then its stuck. My next step was to replace the injector...
  13. Thanks but the issue is solved, it was fuel not oil, due to a stuck injector.
  14. All I gotta do is just fix the broken stud on the exhaust manifold.
  15. For my 1983 280zx NA I was told by a lot of my friends that Magnaflow is a great product. I have been shopping around for mufflers for a while, I looked mostly at HKS and Magnaflow. Anyways, first this is my situation. I ran over a brick a while back so I need to get my downpipe rebuilt. After I do that then I plan on either fabricating a test pipe or installing a hi-flow cat and using a Magnaflow muffler. I'm going to leave all the pipe in place and just replace the muffler which is falling apart. First question - When I remove the cat should I use something like this or just weld in a section of pipe? Second - I am pretty sure the stock exhaust is 2.25 right? If so should I replace the muffler and do the cat removal on it or should I pay way the heck more and get my local shop to do a full custom 2.5? I would prefer to spend less money, also if I do it at a shop then legally they have to put in a cat. Not what I want. Anyways thanks for any input.
  16. I have been looking in the FSM and cant find anything on the AFM. I have already gone through the diagnosis stuff and figured it is a faulty AFM, but what I want to know is what all the model numbers correspond to... The one in my car is the A31-622-420, but I want to verify that is the correct one for the car I have because there are like 14 options for a reman. 1983 280zx NA 5-speed
  17. I have a nice set of 13x6's including center caps.
  18. So I really don't have much cash right now so I have two options. 1983 280zx non turbo, I dont have to DEQ may car... #1- Buy a universal HKS Stainless muffler 2 1/4 inch, 2 1/4 universal high flow cat, and MSA header. Install all using the pipe in the stock system and eventually add new pipe. #2- Buy the same setup but have someone install it with fresh pipe from the get go... Option 2 requires me to wait a long time...
  19. Ya, I'm looking for a spacer not something to change the lug pattern. Thanks though.
  20. I'm looking for a 40mm or 1.5" spacer for a 280zx. I got a quote of 190 shipped so anyone know where to get a cheaper set that work?
  21. I am pretty sure the wheels I want are a +40 offset so to confirm I need a 1.5" spacer? Also I am pretty sure that 215/50-17 tires are the way to go right?
  22. I never thought of taping it like that. Thanks!
  23. It doesn't seem like the steering wheel pullers available would be able to get off my Momo hub... How do you guys get off your hubs?
  24. First off it sounds like a CLSD (I'm talking the entire housing with the diff still inside, ect...) from a 84-89 300zx will be almost a direct bolt on into a 280zx? What would need to be modified? Second what are the gear ratios in relation to the 280zx gears. Will I get the same final drive?
