  1. I always loved the way that Blueovalz's car looks. Hey jackhammer those side markers are great, you should post how you did that and what you had to watch out for.
  2. Just looking at your pictures I noticed a slight sign of a rub on your erergency brake cable. I wonder if it bounses just enough to hit your halfshaft joint. It kind of looks like it might be and that would ouly happen with a little suspension travel. Good luck
  3. i have no idea about the coach builder, but several companies have used the name Ghia in the product line. Cars, boats, a plane, a kit car, and I am sure a few more. Ghia is not strictly used in Italy as mentioned before. A quick internet search shows over 2.2 million hits including a German car manufacturer. I think one search would put this to bed for anyone interested. Also, one old fiberglass kit manufacturer (I am not sure but I thought it was Bob Sharp and I could probably find the old catalog) called it a Ghia nose which is where I remember it from like 20 years ago and it was the same G-nose that we call the G-nose. They probably used it as a name that they could sell and not cause issues with the G-nose name. I did find it interesting that G-nose stood for Grande. Even motorsports in California once said it stood for Ghia nose, so more people had the same idea for waht ever reason and it is good to know what the literature stood for.
  4. I agree that his response was kind of non-productive. But Ghia has been used for a variety of things including several cars.
  5. Interesting, I thought it always stood for Ghia nose.
  6. About the structural part of the Z. The roof skin actually adds just a little bit of structure to the car and I mean a little bit. The sunroof gets installed in a way that makes it become part of the roof and therefore makes the roof similar to having a one piece roof again. The real structural support of the roof lies in the rails along the sills of the windows and glass and they remain unaltered for this installation. If you are not concerned about those rails you could go one size larger runroof and cut into them a little to fit. I will try to do a few birds eye pictures as requested but we are out of town so it might be a bit before we can post them. Also for those of you that have a sunroof and want to replace the old worn out one this one should easily fit in a slightly larger cut out section of your room which makes it an easy update to your older one. If you decide to do it yourself you can use the template and cut it out. We had ours installed because the guy would make a better deal for it installed and finished out and ready to go (It was around 800 tax included). We kept the sheetmetal peice so we could use it for test painting in the future. Hope that helps Robert
  7. Okay my wife and I took some pictures last night of the sunroof so you can see how it looks installed. I posted them in my photo album so you can either look under my user name iaconsultants or possibly this link will work. http://album.hybridz.org/showgallery.php?cat=679 Hope this helps and you guys like it. Good luck Robert
  8. From the album: Sunroof on a 78 280Z

This is the simple switch that is mounted right in front of the sunroof in the headliner. This works fine in the position but would have been better if we mounted it in the center console. Also we should have made a new headliner using black leather than this velvet type of cloth, but we will probably do that once we do the roll cage.
  9. From the album: Sunroof on a 78 280Z

Here the sunroof is closed and has the shade rolled out to keep most of the light out. There is a grid of small holes throught this shade so some light does get in but not anything that would cause a glare or the feeling of sun being on you. One hint is don't spray a cleaner on it that has any kind of a soap in it. It can leave what appears to be a water mark when the soap dries.
  10. From the album: Sunroof on a 78 280Z

Here you can see through the glass outside and notice that the roll shade is opened all the way. You can see the slide handle at the backside which rolls up into the sunroof window unit itself.
  11. From the album: Sunroof on a 78 280Z

This shows the sun room from the inside in the open position. The rim opening size is 25" side to side and 18" front to back.
  12. From the album: Sunroof on a 78 280Z

This shows the clearnace between the glass and the hatchback which is about 3/4 of an inch at the closest point in the center of the glass. This is done so that you can open the hatch with the glass still all the way open and there is no contact.
  13. From the album: Sunroof on a 78 280Z

Here you can see the sunroof open along with the guide rails and the rubber seals.
  14. From the album: Sunroof on a 78 280Z

This is to show how the tilt vent looks like.
  15. From the album: Sunroof on a 78 280Z

This is just to show the size of the sunroom and how it works with the lines of the sheetmetal roof. The sunroof outside frame size is 32-5/8" side to side x 23" front to back and the glass size is 31-5/8 x 21-3/4".
  16. Two of my old Z's leaked from the rear hatch just like what Nismo280zEd stated above. I used a hose to find them and funny enough they were in oposite corners.
  17. I saw one a few months ago that was listed on Ebay for around the same price, even showed the scratches on the door and window. Was it not a 260Z 2+2 not a 280Z in the movie? Looks like the 260Z bumpers in the pictures above.
  18. so what would they go for in price if you could get them in the US?
  19. To bad they don't have a front and rear mounted paintball gun on every car. the rule should be if you have 3 paint ball marks on your car a cop should automatically pull you over and give you an idiot ticket with an idoit proofing fine of a few hundred dollars. Then three idiot tickets and you loose your right to drive for a year. The only bad part is that on some of the idiot drivers out there would end up having the paint ball gun emptied on them. Some people out there are just a waste of skin.
  20. It should be a 280Z if the build date is 75 the 260Z I believe where only produced during the last few months of 73 and into late of 74, but they where all listed as 74 260Z's, from what I recall.
  21. It sounds like the fluid level is low on your radiator. You did not play with taking apart the water pump did you because reverse mounting the pump impeller can have some interesting results (saw this on a different car not a Z motor before). Also if you are running boost and having a serious head gasket leak near number 6 which is closest to the water jacket you could end up presurizing the coolant area. The water pump could be bad but usually it pomps its seal plug and pours water out of the bottom of the pump. You could also have a stuck thermostat that just does not open at all and keeps building presure. In any case once you fix it you will need to replace the hose since it will most likely go out sooner than expected. Just throughing out some things out to check. Good luck
  22. Very very nice Blue, what is the color code for that color. We are working toward a repaint of our original blue color but that one looks so much better.
