  1. Congrats!! That is a very precious project that will take a lifetime...and you will never finish it. Enjoy her!!
  2. Howdy! Ok....Who get's the next "custom" user title?? huh?
  3. I think that is an excellent idea! I cleaned up the head and stripped it down as much as I could to make the machining easier. Thank you!!
  4. lol join the party, dont have my user title for no reason

  5. lol what are you doing up this early?

  6. I had a problem with over heating once after my radiator leaked. I fixed the leak but I think it was too late. The head get's checked out at a shop before it goes back on.
  7. I blew my head gasket last week.....so Chey and I went to work on pulling the motor apart. These are the best daddy and daughter dates ever!! Gettin ready to tear it apart.. Look who finally decided to show up. I left for a minute to get my light and she had pulled the hood off...suprised the heck out of me!! Working of the header/intake bolts...I am glad she has small fingers. Last nut!! She was very happy!! Now that's a happy girl. Pics of the block and pistons. I noticed the pistons have "0.5MM" on them...I don't know why. There are still hash marks on the cylinder walls. She is way too pleasedwith herself!! on the head I noticed .006 I wonder if this head has been shaved?? You can see where the gasket was leaking.... I now have the head completely torn down and ready for the shop....
  8. hey, just curious if you know if a 260z bumper would fit on a 240z?

  9. I would love to say that I am able to lift that out by myself...but no. lol I had my brother in law help me get it out. Paul used his tractor to put it into my car. The drive home was interesting to say the least. My exhaust hit on every bump and the front end was all over the place. I am not leaving that 8" damper on. I am looking for a ~6" damper so it will clear the rack.
  10. I appreciate your opinion. The whole premis of this site is to support those who want to modify their Z, not keep things stock or Datsun. There are other Z car sites for Datsun purists...This is NOT the place for that.
  11. The 350 is coming together. I test fitted some heads (not the ones I will end up using), but I just wanted to feel like progress is being made. lol
  12. do you have the choke hold downs for these carbs?

  13. Well, technically it IS in my Z...right? I can't wait to get this swap done! ZZ4 350 to start with and I am in the process of getting the cam, timing set, heads..etc... This is going to be a daddy and daughter project for the winter. One piece at a time!! Just like Johnny Cash.
  14. You have an awesome looking ignition system. The coil packs are cool and the distributor with no wires look weird. It sounded good too.
  15. When I repaired my radiator I torched the old solder off. So re-heating it will do the trick. Probably won't want to heat you wires with a torch though. lol
  16. Welcome to HBZ. Be sure to use the search function as there are several threads dedicated to this very topic. Thanks!
  17. Yep! That site will give you this: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2009-070605-3347-99 I don't know what that has to do with HBZ though.....kinda weird.
  18. Thanks to Ron and Paul!! here are better pics of my loot. "swirly" heads casting # 14102193 They need some work, but I think they will be good for parts or trade for 305 heads. ZZ4, one peice rear main seal, 2 bolt main, 350 sbc casting# 10243880...complete bottom end. The bearings are in good shape! And the rods are weird looking....no marings on them at all. I am assuming they are just stock rods.
  19. I have a ZZ4 350 SBC in my 240z!! The ride home was interesting to say the least! I now have a rebuildable engine. The block casting # is: 10243880...350...95-00...2 or 4...Vortec truck, Gen.I crate motors and "ZZ4", roller cam, one piece rear seal. The block was not in the weather very long.... The rust in the cylinder walls is just surface rust. I can use either a roller cam or a flat tappet with this motor! I am on my way!!
  20. Welcome to the forum. Look over this thread, http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=117254 it will give you some insite on what the different options are. I personally would not use the stock 240z tranny when you can pick up TH350s for 25.00 to 50.00 bucks.....depending on where you look. Also read this: Hope that helps.
