First step is to take your alt to a shop and have it tested. That is free and will tell you if the alt is bad.

Here is my N/A L26 with 6-2-1 header and 2 1/2" strait pipe exhaust. Not too loud, but sounds pretty mean. When I hear Skib's car it sounds pretty loud at idle, but not when he steps on it.

Got my first sbc parts today and will be getting an intake from fastdadd. Thanks man! I am starting at the top and working my way down. I also have a 4 bolt main 350 bare block to work with when I am ready.

I am not at all surprised by your question or concern. I actually welcome it because it gives you the opportunity to get to know me. Those here who have had dealings with me already know that I am an upright individual. I share with you a passion for Datsuns as well as the modification of them. What makes me a good candidate for being a mod other than my anti-spam skills is the fact I take seriously my role as a representitve team member of this forum, making sure that the interests of our forum and you are taken care of. It helps that I am a moderator on a few forums and have the experience necessary to get the job done here. I moderate on NICOClub and Ratsun and a Warez forum. Look me up. You are right, I have special powers. I take care of the spammers before they get a chance to spam. I may be new to this site and to Z cars, but I am not new to datsuns or what it takes to keep them running. As for my zcar experience....I am in the process of a V8 swap now which will give me plenty of know how when I am done.

Waiting to go see this engine is killing me!!! AHHHH! Ok, I feel better now. I have located an aluminum sbc 4 barrel intake for 5.00 on CL. I got in touch with BrianV8z who lives near me and I will be getting together with him to discuss small details and look over his swap. This will happen very fast as soon as I get all of the right parts together. Anyone who has seen my projects knows this already though. lol Right now it is a matter of gathering what I need to get the swap in and running in 1-2 days. Ambitious I know...

Hold the presses!! I just found out that I may be getting the motor out of this 13 second car!! Minus the aluminum parts and high rise intake...but who cares! I will have some serious HP to start with. He also has a couple of 4spds I can look at. He is making me an awesome deal AND I will get the chance to drive the car before I buy. The motor is a 350 with modified 305 heads and a cam...other than that I don't know much more right now. I am stoked!! I will need a waterpump and a stock intake.

Update I have aquired the required text for this assignment. I now have the JTR V8 swap book and I will be looking at a couple of motors and trannys in the next few weeks.

lol I am going for a carbed motor for now. We will get to the EFI and other fancy stuff once I get this going. We will crawl before we walk on this one.

I may kick myself for this post.... But I am commiting to a V8 swap. I am in the process of looking for a donor car or a good deal on a SBC / tranny combo. I have been considering this for awhile and have been too afraid to mess up my 240z. I will take my time and do this right. I will keep you updated on my acquisition of parts toward this endeavor. I have finally figured out that I will not mess her up if I have your help....and I know I will. I have seen too many awesome threads and have been encouraged by a uhem a couple of guys here who have done many of these swaps. It is just that I have seen a few of these swaps started and never finished and that is what makes me nervous. No worries with you guys around..... Failure is NOT an option here and I can't wait to get this thing done!! Updates as they happen. Oh, first on my list is that V8 swap book!! Then..... My ideal donor car will be a very cheap, running, driving complete junker that I can pull all my parts out of. If that is not the best option then the following will be on my list.... SBC engine 350 Preferred- must be complete carb to pan Tranny Manual Preferred JTR mount kit R-200 and the stuff to make it fit I am shopping CL now and looking into what my other options are for parts.
