  2. Seeing that this is HeavyZ's old car and we all know how much time, effort, and money he put in it, you always wonder who your car ends up with and at what level of experience and knowledge the new owner has. I'm sure some of the HybriidZ guys would help you in your area before you take it to another shop..... LARRY
  3. What's the part and for what model, maybe someone can help you..... LARRY
  4. Five trips from ILL, to CA, and back taught me this... 1.) Before you leave put fresh batteries in two flashlights, charge your cellphone and shut it off, get state maps of the less populated states, ice chest full of ice only, extra water for you and the car, two qts. of oil, one can of brake fluid, one bag of small tools, a small roll of wire, roll of duct tape, make sure you have a jack that works and a good spare tire, credit card and a tow card, and if you are driving at night in those western states don't let the gas guage go below 1/2 full. Some stations have a early closing time. Some extra food that you plan on using only for emergencies. This is a list of a few things I've found helpful. LARRY
  5. Payment sent for 2 XL. Good Luck..... LARRY
  6. This is my 5" fiberglass cowl to a metal hood that was cracked about 1/2" when I bought this car and the crack keep spreading until we secured a hood pin over it . The crack has not spread since we did this 2 years ago. I've had the car for 4 years and sometime this year I will change to a new hood but not fiberglass to metal...... LARRY

  10. I'll try and point you in the right direction... http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/suspension.htm The 8 outer bushings have 3062 stamped on them and their 4 sleeves are 3/4"OD X 1.83" . 2 on each sleeve. You have 4 inner bushings stamped 3077 and 4 stamped 3078. 2 sleeves are 1-3/16" OD x 2.45". 2 sleeves are 1-3/16" OD x 2.062". 2 of the 3077 bushings go on one side of the control arm and 2 of the 3078 go on the other side. Match the sleeve and bushings up to the lenght of the control arm you are installing the bushings on.Hope this helps.... LARRY
  11. You need the spindle pin. The control arm is not threaded. You slide the heim joint bolt thru the control arm. That's how you can adjust the wheel by turning the nuts in or out while the wheel is off the ground. The spindle pin secures the two heim joints. LARRY
  12. Yes you do and then reinsert them into your new arms, hopefully for the last time.... LARRY

  14. Might look at this site, it has lots of Z parts. Choose Nissan and the year. This link is for a 76 280Z. http://replacement.autopartswarehouse.com/parts/autopartswarehouse/parts.jsp?year=1976&make=NI&model=280-Z-001&part_name=null LARRY
  15. Well ok so when you go to Mike's profile and click on " find all threads started by ON3GO" what page is that thread on?? LARRY
  16. Good point Dale, we did that too, I forgot to add that step. It reduces any binding during adjustment. LARRY
  17. I'll also confirm that you use the spindle pins but now to adjust the rear wheels you just have to have the wheels off the ground and wrench the adjusting nuts in or out.... About Summit carry Z parts, the parts they list are stocked with them. There is no drop shipping and you will notice they show the availible date next to the part if it is not in stock. I had to wait 3 weeks on my control bushings but the good news is it is now in stock at Summit. One big difference between Summit and MSA is that Summit will notify you when an item is not in stock and tell you when it ships with tracking info. LARRY
  18. This may have been explained before but this is my question. If you go to your profile and click "find all posts" you only get a max of 500. My posts started in 2003 but the 500 figure goes back to only 9-2004. Does this mean that if you have over 500 posts the rest can not be viewed? And as you post a new one does an old one drops off? Does the search function have access to those posts over 500? Is there a 500 cut-off on "find all threads" also? That's way to much thinking for me I know. LARRY
  19. http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.asp?Ntt=BUSHING+KITS+NISSAN&N=115&Nao=10&Ntk=KeywordSearch#rstop Summit part# ENS-7-3104G....$48.39 Summit sells many parts for models 240Z and up that are cheaper than most places. For the bushings they sell individual kits up to the complete kit. When we put the large bushings on there was still a small space on the control arm so that we added a few washers to make sure of no movement, also they provide a grease bag and make sure everything gets some so that you don't have any squeaks later. Here's another summit example, type in sway bar Nissan and you get http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.asp?Ntk=KeywordSearch&DDS=1&N=115&y=9&searchinresults=false&Ntt=sway+bar+nissan&x=26 LARRY
  20. Thanks... We took a measurement on each side of the old control arms and turned the adjusters of the new arms to that figure. At the alignment shop each side had to be adj. a few turns but it was a very quick fix. I'm not sure if this is the "right" way to do this but it worked for us. I hope that this is the last time messing with the damn spindle pins. We found that we had to add some washers for a snug fit on the large bushing end of the control arms during assembly. Also Ross doesn't supply those bushings and we ordered them from Summit. They were the cheapest I found and you have to order the rear control arm bushing kit so I have a few extra bushings. LARRY

  22. Another great product from MM installed on my car and yes the alignment shop loved them. Fixed my rear from pulling to the right at WOT from a dead stop after the AFR heads were installed.... LARRY
  23. One other thread I forgot to mention is directed to removing the heater control panel and the sequence for reassembly of the dash in a 73 240Z. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4429 LARRY
