  2. I found a set of Jaguar rims that I really like and wanted to use on my 70 240Z. The body work of the car is stock. The rims are 17"x8" and should have no problem with clearance/rubbing. But I am not to sure as to whether or not they look disproportionately big for the car.

Please give me your opinion on 17†wheels for a 240Z. If you are running 17†wheels on your S30 please post a picture so I can see approximately what it would look like.

My car is going to be painted a beautiful white with lots of pearl. Below are a few pictures of the rims.

  3. Hey guys I have an opportunity to pick up these guns locally for $200 each.

Devilbiss GTI 620G HVLP paint gun with size 1.3,1.4, & 1.5 tips, comes with regulator and hook stand in original box. Like new $200

Devilbiss SRI-625G HVLP paint gun, used very little $200

Does anyone have any experience with these guns?

I would only be purchasing 1 of these guns.

  4. Ok so when I bought my 240Z the car would not start.

So i replaced the spark plugs and wires and removed the SU carbs cleaned them real nice and put them back on the car. The car started nicely and i drove it around the block once or twice. The car was running really really RICH. The following day the car started up again no problem but then the 3rd day and now the engine cranks good and it smells like it is getting plenty of fuel but it wont start.

I replaced the ignition coil and took out one of the spark plugs and placed it on bare metal and got a healthy blue spark. I cranked the car for a while and the engine started for a second or two and then died again.

I lifted up the cylinder inside the SU's and sprayed some started fluid into the throat and tried to crank and car but it would still not start.

I was trying to tune my carbs and cranked the engine a few times and the rubber plug on the balance tube flew off with a lotta force.

Any and all help is welcome.

  5. I've been using this setup for a while. I gotta say it works great for the money. Should include everything you need.

i bought a devilblis set a while back. some pro painters use it when they do not need to break out the expensive guns. it came with 2 hvlp guns with 2 different tips and a detail gun. all for $150.00. works good.

Kool that seems to be a good quality kit. Looks much better than the harbor freight 43430 HVLP gun I was about to buy. Could you please pictures of the car you guys painted using this kit.

  6. I have been doing a lot of reading about different guns and a leaning towards the harbor freight 43430 HVLP gun. It seems to be getting a lot of good reviews from amateur / novice painters such as myself. And at a price point of ~$40 it seems to be an awesome gun.

anyone on here ever use this gun to paint a car?

  7. Well i have decided to paint my own car and am in the market for a good paint gun @ a resonable price.

I not really sure as to how much i need to spend on a paint gun since i'll proabbly only use it a few times.

Do i need seperate guns to spray primer, paint and clear?

What brand should i buy? (My car is a daily driver and not a show car)

I have been reading online about spray guns and it seems that i should get a HVLP gun for automotive paint purposes.

Please share any painting tips or trick that might prove useful to someone that has never used a spray gun before.

  8. I was cleaning the SU’s on my 240Z and noticed that the needle in the middle on one of the SU’s was a little bent and this caused the core to get stuck approx 2/3rd’s the way down.

What are my options? Do I have to replace the core or can you just buy a new needle. Where can i find a new needle?

I looked all over the SU's and was unable to find make and model.

I apologize in advance if the question are trivial.

  9. Logan1, that looks like a pretty nice, clean, early car to start with. Good luck with it. Do you know what you want to do with it?

I wanted a good looking British sports car that handled like a dream but being that i am 6'5" tall i could not fit into any of them...So i tried the Z cars and they have plenty of room; are just as good looking and are easier/cheaper to maintain.

For the most part i plan to keep the car stock. I want to fix the rust and I want to upgrade the suspension and the brakes. I bought a book called "How to Restore Your Datsun Z-Car - by Wick Humble" on amazon.

If you guys have any advice as to how i should go about upgrading the brakes and suspension please do share.
