  1. 30 miles? thats nothing, I went all over montana before I found mine in Great falls. Pfff, travelling thousands of miles for a clean shell. gotta just keep a good eye out. Did you go check it out?
  2. haha, I had a saab 900 turbo that would need the occasional dash tap. But its the tab on the steering column for the light toggle, the little plastic connector broke so its not even touch the center option for guage lights and driving lights... so its off to my parts car I go high ho.
  3. I was on my way home from the store when, the all of the lights associated with the middle selection on the lighting tab, between having headlights on and no lighting on at all, anyway, they all stopped working, except for hazards, turn signals, brake lights, and headlights. all the other lights stopped working, guages, driving lights, side markers. Im hoping it is the little tab on the steering column to turn your headlights on that is just out of place or stopped working, I checked the fuses and they are good. Help would be appreciated. Ps. I tried the search button, everyone has had the opposite of my problem so far in my searches.
  4. im doing the same thing with my L28E motor, I found a complete L28ET Running with a wiring harness and ECU rebuilt with 5k on it for $500 in WA. For the time being I'm going to 2mm HG my l28e and put the L28ET turbo equipment on it and p90 head, along with the stock 280zxt injectors and dizzy, and oil pan so I wont need to tap a line in. Selling the leftovers for a FMIC intercooler and 3" exhaust to relieve the pressure. Hopefully Ill be turning to Standalone for the ECU tuning... afterall, we sit here and argue about heart transplant or parting together a turbo, from reading your statements, it looks like it would be more economical and practical for you to go with the mismatch franken L28e, besides, this is Hybridz.org nothing is done the same way twice around here!
  5. could the bracket for the coil be from a 280zxt? that would make sense because it sounds like the ignitor on the bracket for the coil.
  6. what front bumper is that, Thats almost exactly what I was looking for, for my 280z...
  7. ill seriously look into this, I looked it up, from what I gathered it runs a hydraulic brake line, much like the motocycle hydraulic brake lines? Im ordering two tommorow hopefully, one for the customer, and one for me, I could always hook it up to my rear drums just for fun and see If I can get these old stubborn drums to actually lock up for a slide.
  8. I thought we all agreed that they were bad for being a parking brake aswell? it'll need to be able to hold itself in place on a slope to, only so much tow straps can do on a trailer.
  9. I used the Dupli-color Rubberized Undercoating and compared it to the Dupli-color Bed lining spray, Almost Identical, except for cost, so I used the Rubberized undercoating on all of my sheetmetal interior under the carpets and spare tire area and it great reduced the noises I used to get all the time, now I need a couple more cans so I can do inside of my doors and the wheel wells, after I fix the small rust spot in the existing coating of rubber. Time for some sheet metal fun with a tig welder!
  10. Really? I never knew car models were so optimistic back in the day to. well than...
  11. On the big brake upgrade, what E-brake options are available? Something quick and snappy drifting, I have a gutted formula D 280z im building with my buddy who owns a nismo shop.
  12. HAHAHAHA!!! OK, I was used to Vr4 Galants and 3000gts with the model number stamp out of 1000 there, never occured that would be august 1977, so my car is really a 77? or is that when it was built and sent for the 78 shipment?
  13. Inside of my 78 280z there is a stamp that reads 8/77. like its one of 77 special models? Ive noticed that it seems different than other 78's ive been around at shows and race events.. the hood has more of a point, and it has other attributes that seem to be odd. The body almost looks like its the length of a 2+2 with a regular hatch... I believe Im loosing my marbles. The stamp just got me wondering, so if someone could help, it'd be great.
  14. He talks to a guy Im friends with all the time, were trying to get a nissan sportshop opened up in town, because all we have for parts and resourcing is the dealers, which are crap. anyway, ill try and source the L24 down and get his dyno sheet for some oldschool goodness. sorry to threadjack there bigphil! Sick Z, Dig the new color 100%!
  15. hmmmm... my relatively stock 78 280z did a 6.7 as its best with the same app. I was pleasently surprised! Due to my inexperience Im going to go to a Triple Weber 50mm Carb or a Mikuni Carb set up instead of a turbo motor for right now. there was a guy in town with a 240z that had mikuni's that were fully street tuned and He had done some other things, but he showed me a dyno sheet from the week before, He hit 340WHP and somewhere around 335WTQ.... Off of an L24!!!! thats one of hell of a tuning guy ... From my inexperienced nogan I gathered from the internet that a 3.1 stroker L28, with a mid range cam and With Tuned Tripe Weber 50mms and a ported intake could achieve 370whp? Is that even remotely close, considering your the power guru here.
  16. Coming from alot of home-made S13 drift vehicles in seattle, welding your diff is Great if all you do is drift, but it drives horrible when you need to just go to the store. Unless, your doing it sideways of course
  17. way to be! Guessing 380 right off the bat lol. Being the place the I live the two hardest things about getting a l28et in my car is, finding a 280zxt car, and Wiring the new harness in, I work at a soundshop so I shouldnt be admitting to be scared of all the wiring, but honestly, wiring harnesses scare the crap outta me... That thing is sweet! Watched most of your videos before I even had my license haha. After it gets done smoking the tires and screaming, what would you place your 0-60 at?
  18. no, I figured out what he did, he ran the wires over the fan cover and had plug in glued to the cover to hold a plug in the wasnt hooked up in place. Its the fan clutch that has gone bad, it wont shut off when its cold
  19. seeing that I have no ac compressor Im not really sure, Im beginning to think he used that location to mount it, either way its all un-done now and back to normal, and im trying to keep the amount of electrical wires down otherwise I would convert it, but why would I do that when I have another fan clutch in the donor car for free.
  20. no $#!T im a little worried myself here.
  21. mine is an R200, when im doing a burnout, both spin, but then when I let the brake off and start going, it all goes to the right side and lays down one line, its a tempermental Limited slip, when im sliding both will light up, but when im just doing a burnout or getting on it to hard only one side spins while its moving. but both will spin in place, I think mine is just messed up.
  22. your correct, I saw the belt, but I also saw a electrical relay going to it, apparently from looking at the box of parts that came with this car, 80% of the car is 280z stock, 20% is 280zx that is on the and 5% of that 20 is not hooked up. The guy who put the motor in was a nimrod and didnt hook half of the things up, I need a new clutch.
  23. It already is electrical, but the computer has it fixed at a rediculous rate.
