  1. hello hybridz, I got some questions about bigger injectors for an N/A 280z with OEM fuel injection, what is the biggest you can go and what would the difference really be?
  2. Ive done megasquirt before, I have other people besides myself to do the work on the car. I work with a shop, Im not as unintelligent as you think. I just needed the parts list to check over, I know most of the things you need but I did not know which valves were needed and what not. and as far as megasquirting the new engine, I AM NOT going to, im going to keep it simple for my first time doing a more relaxed build/swap. I have located a few Low mileage 280zxt engines that regardless of the owners claims will be broke down and re-sealed/gasketed and rebuilt. as mentioned above, people buy turbo engines to drive the piss out of them. Nuff said. Rolling Parts made a good point and Ive decided to do that. Im building a 280xt on a stand and taking it out to my local shop electrical rebuilds and upgrades. *no megasquirting yet* Ill let the experts do that if I go with it. Thanks for the help however. Hope your swap goes well Rolling parts, flat black im aware of the search button last week I was rather incompitent to say the least. once again thanks for the help HybridZ folks. have a nice day.
  3. Daily Driven every Damn Day, And weekend warrior Auto-x. My 1978 280z. With my ugly mug in the drivers seat haha
  4. im smokin crack, sorry. i typed it in again. User fail Ive ordered a complete RB20DET and 5speed RWD transmission and uncut wiring harness for my 280z, and I will be building a ZXT motor for a 280z 2+2 that will be a street car. (2+2 just for the unique factor)
  5. I just typed in turbo L28 and it didnt come up, I guess I just fail. thanks. I looked over the add, but what I was looking for was the turbo manifold and things like that to go on the 280z L28 motor, not a full engine swap.
  6. I seem to have lost the sticky that had the very nice list of parts that you need to turbocharge a 280z L28. It had everysingle part down the bolt you could possibley ever need to turbocharge the L28. Does anyone have this info or the sticky?
  7. Right now I need One more wheel oh so badly. Im only using them for show wheels because whenever I turn with any decent amount of speed the front end begins to shutter and hop a little, I blame the wheels tires.
  8. http://www.rbwheels.com/index.php?main_page=popup_image_additional&pID=1402&pic=0&products_image_large_additional=images/large/eneki_01_LRG.JPG Im rootin to buy those ^^ But right now I have two sets of 14" these, PS, The photos below of the 14x5.5 If anyone has one more of these, I would be more than willing to take just one more off your hands, I got 3 of them for three, I need One more!!! Those are my extra set. 14x5.5 just for show wheels. this is what they go on, p.s. Ill get some updated pictures from the last car show/auto-x, this photo is from when I got the car.
  9. Ive noticed they are heavy. I think ill post them on the AE86 and corrolla form, the crazy japs are into these kinda wheels so Id probably get 200$ for all of them, they still have good tread on them. For my auto-x wheel and drift Ive come to the conclusion to do a 15x8 Bassett Racing wheel in Silver, they wiegh 17pounds, they are bullet proof aswell.
  10. good to know, the wheels I have now shake the car around 85/90 pretty bad. They are basically these with less arms and lower offset. 14x7 205/70/R14. maybe its just the certain point when the wheel and the road meet at a certain mph and they shake a little, my other two cars do that at different points. I guess I can just slide the crap out of these and see how they hold up.
  11. no kidding, I have a same style wheel on my Z right now that is 14x7. they dont have as many arms coming from the hub area, If i could find one more of these 14x6's I would totally use them as my drift wheels, the tires are dirt cheap and they are small mass so its easier to get spinning and you can have your car lower. If I could just find one more, thats the problem, or two more that are wider for the back.
  12. Well, obviously anything free cant be to much of a bust, but here goes my story. One of my lugs got stripped on my 78 280z, so we sat there pondering if the ones I ordered would fit or not (they did), but a Roto Rooter guy pulled over on the side of the road and got out and vigorously yelled, "hey, is that your car?" so I answered ya, long pointless story short, I got these 3 wheels for free from a 75 280z, they are in good condition and One of them I sanded down to see how rough they were, they are headed for the sandblaster later this week, the problem ive run into is if I should buy one more of these to make a set and use them as my spare drift/auto-x wheels, or should I use them as show wheels, my other option is to sell them. That is where the helpful people from hybridz.org come in, can you give me a estimated worth on these and how hard it would be to find one more. Here are the photos, Those are the ones I kind of cleaned up for comparison. dont mind the little dog, he's an attention whore. Now heres what they looked like in the back of my truck. Dirty dirty... Please give me an estimate on what they would be worth all cleaned up?!?!
  13. 5 speed stock L28, my 1978 280z, On the highway it got 21mpg and in the city ive been getting 25mpg, thats with Plus 89 Octane fuel and with a fixed fuel to air ratio and not having half of the emissions hooked up.
  14. The stamp on the casting below my sparkplugs on my 280z reads L-28E, and it has a P79 head with a W24 intake manifold, ect... In short, I could've just looked at my engine to reference it, but thats what I get for being young and not experienceed with the actual information parts and not just the building and replacing for parts. Anyway,Thank you SO much, its people like you that make this website worthwile and a great place to be, Ill be posting pictures of this car when he goes to buy, and If he doesnt, I might just have to find my 1978 280z a new buddy for the heated garage this winter. Thanks a ton
  15. Try'd the search button, came up with a lot of stuff, none of which pertained to me. However, I would like to know if the code on all of the stock 280z's read L28-E, The reason why I ask is a man with a 260z has an 2.8l motor in his car, but being how old he is and it wasnt his engine swap, he doesnt know if the car has a 280z engine, or zx, I personally have not seen the car, i would just like to know if you can tell me anything from the code L28-E.
  16. Drove my 1978 280z from Bozeman Mt, left at 4am, made it to the ferry in Edmonds( past seattle ) in about 11hours and 30 minutes, 700Miles. You do the math, about average 85/90 usually, takes about 13hours. Drove like a champ, Finally passed 100,000miles on the body. But, The engine/tranny is only at 45,000 so, its all good, Im a JDM hoe at heart, so its gotta be an L28ET Rebuilt baybe, fresh and noisy.
  17. Hey, Awesome build! Im dying to know where you got those gauges, Please PM me where you got them! My tach and some other gauges are goin on my 78 280z, I needz me some new ones before I get my turbo(s)!
  18. the one that I have now is webbed between the intake tubing, Alot of vacuum lines on the car are not hooked up or plugged, it seems like alot of things are not put on, but it still runs really smooth. The one I have in a box does not have the webbing in between the intake piping. I dont recall the number off of it though.
  19. even the W24? I have another intake manifold at home that has split piping, i think he was gonna convert it to carburation
  20. So, the block is L28, Head is P79, and Intake Manifold is W24, I have another manifold in a box at home with some other mismatch parts, Is this manifold proper for this car, and what so has it changed (car is 1978 Datsun 280z) Previous owner has flaked, so Ive lost my source. Photos. http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/3660344/ (car) http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/3660305/ (car) http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/3610136/ (engine) http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/3610140/ (engine)
  21. For the top link, I already removed those 3 bolts, and it wont budge . And, After going back out I quickly realised that I would need to drop the tank lol. Which is ok because I was planning in taking it off and Wetsanding it, and maybe repainting it. Or just leave it because we all know "Raw Steel Means Sex Appeal" (from an old add, Raw Steal and Sex Appeal, borla exhaust) Is the easiest way to patch all the holes on the back-end after the removal just by bondo and sanding?
  22. Do you have a photo? Do you mean the ones behind the bolt that you take off when first removing the rubber side of the actually bumper, on the rear left and right quarterpanels? There isnt anything plastic, if you could post a high lighted photo it would mean the world to me
  23. I already have the bumper off, And have the bolts out on the shock absorber sleeve (Correct me if the pertruding pains in the @$$ are not called bumper shocks) I have taken off all of the obvious bolts, but they just dont Budge! Im trying to completely shave the rear bumper, and on 280z's its a little complicated apparently. Please help before I get the Plasma Cutter!?!?
  24. yes, now it has turned into a misfire that is blatently clear, and its an electrical misfire. Also the hole that developed in my header isnt exactly helping.
  25. Today, I diagnosed my problem, it went from a slight missfire to today it MISFIRES. Its very aparent and I will be diagnosing the problem on my lonesome from here on out, thank you for your assistance and if anymore problems re-open themselves I will post a new link after I Search. thank you, and Mods you may now destroy the thread.
