  1. As the car is going to be used for drag racing... I think I may weld the cage first, then do the sills????? If the body moves with the cage in it, I ain't going to drive it but turn it in most outrageous paper weight of history
  2. I will take it to a dyno ASAP first with the std setup... then with the decked L28... and then will see.
  3. Ok I bought the 240Z auto... The engine/trany is runing fine. But my L28 is waiting now in my barn asking to see the light again. It came also from a 280ZX auto... is it a "bolt on" on the 240Z trany? Starter? new parts? I would like to use it for a while with the auto box just to see how run a hot L28 with an automatic... then if I dont like it I still have my 5 speed around. As far as rear diff, what the deal with an auto? My favorite one was the 3/9 on the manual... what would you put if you have the choice?
  4. any more ideas... summer is here and I would like to use the beast
  5. Remind me of a friend’s car, a Peugeot 404 convertible. An old unibody rusty nasty car, but quite good lookin' He couldn't open both doors at the same time or... He had to put weight at both end to close them again. Until one day the trunk of the car, jealous of the front engine bay with the noisy stinky engine, decided that it was about time to live its own life and parted from the rest of the car!!!! You know what? I have a laser beam that I will use for science sake!!! I will let you know it moves or not!
  6. Took a reading our of the temp sensor... Cold 1.66 Hot 0.30 I don't have my Haynes with me... is it in spec.? Thanks Fred
  7. Thanks for the advice... but hey, I am no architect but still I managed to built my own house… the roof is still on top of it! I am no PHD but I run my own business since 1990! Hell, I don’t even speak English!!!!!!!!!!!! I am what you could call a guy of challenge. I am not going to be beaten by a piece of metal.
  8. looking at the rockers I think that I will use the drills. My garage is in a condo and I don't want to make too much noise (cutoff are very noisy) and some parts are overlaping so the drill is the only oprion there:icon56:
  9. My car has a strange behaviour! It’s for my 1983 280ZX Euro type Start fine, run fine… but start acting when hot… cannot take it’s rpm but idle fine I have checked the plugs, all the connexions, and all the potentials air leaks nada de nada!!!!! But if I unplug the water sensor… the car runs fine… Must be on the SAFE mode on the calculator but then wouldn’t it run at */- 1200 rpm instead of the 800 rpm it shows????? Help me please
  10. What kind of drill bit work the best? All the one I have should really go trough both pannels as metal bits have a deep V head shape
  11. An easy way to change the sills please? How to unweld the old one without damaging even more the car ?????
  12. Does it mean no one ever tried a 220 hp L6 with the std box ???????
  13. let's see it an other way... how much HP could the std box handlle? I have a fresh rebuilt l28 with p54/decked P90 with a rally cam, 3 delorttos and a 6/2/1 ... would that bitza come alive with the auto trany or is it a no no I also have a spare r200 with a 3/9, a spare r180 with a 3/7 or a 4/63... SO ?
  14. What about a late BMW auto-box? Are they all mechanical or do they use electronics...
  15. Just wondering if one of those late smart auto boxes would bolt on our bloved L28? 5 speed at the touch of a lever
  16. thanks for your PM... I will look into it...
  17. US postal would be fine... How much to you want for them... If you want you can PM the $$$ Thanks
  18. I am looking for a clean front valance for my 240Z. The full clip: center, right and left parts with or without the turn signals but with the hole in them... The one we have in France are without turn signal and look dumb!
  19. No need to go high tech, I found out last sunday that my high pressure car wash was almost like a wind tunel... I had fun toying with it around the curve of the ZX to see how the water flow... Just be sure to use a wide spray
  20. They have zero value over here... nobodys know what it is... a bit like a 240Z ! Most of the Muscle cars lovers are going for the easy stuff like the Camaro/firebirds/mustang ... 'cause the supply for parts isn't too bad, but for a Buick !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am gona need you guys
  21. Thanks, it's a real pain to search for parts over here... And the Buick gs400 isn't the most popular choice over here
  22. I am helping some friends with a very low budget. They are going to race a Buick gs400, why, 'cause that's all they have. We need a low rear diff gearing... right now it's more suitable for Boneville than a drag strip ! Anyone ?
  23. Hmmm! do you think this method could be used whatever is the base colour of the car, mine is metalic green and I would like to use orange... Would the colour be consistent on the already green painted body and the new fibergrlass wings ?
