  1. I guess I am just stupid. I know all of you are smater, younger and pretter than I, but why do you make it so complicated. If the car is running hot it needs more cooling capacity. While you are trying to figure out some high-tech answer I am driving a COOL car. http://www.waskomtexas.com/zcar

  3. From time to time someone posts this problem. Why do you beat your head aganist the wall. I had the same problem and solved the problem this way. http://www.waskomtexas.com/zcar/re_car/engine_cooling.html
  4. Last week I was in a small town, Marshall, Texas. I pulled into one of my clients parking lot. A car pulls in behine me, man gets out and says "can I talk to you about your car. Sure, who doesn't want to talk about their car. He told me that he was one of the partners that had built my car. The other partner is the man who started the "Thunder on Wheels". They built the car that I have in 1984 for competition along with a truck that was painted to match. http://www.waskomtexas.com/zcar I hope to get a lot more history on the car when we get together early next year. They showed the car for several years, sold it and he had not seen it in about 10 years. SMALL WORLD.

  6. This is a common problem that is posted here from time to time. Here is how I solved the problem. http://www.waskomtexas.com/zcar/re_car/engine_cooling.html You may prefer a more expensive way or more complacated way, this worked for me.
  7. Some ideas for you. http://www.waskomtexas.com/zcar
  8. You must get real excited watching paint dry.
  9. I have a 1982 280ZX with a 350 eng and turbo 400 trans. It has a good sound system and much custom body work. I would like to Insure the car but am having a hard time finding an insurance. It is too old for regular insurance companies and needs to be 25 years for Haggerty to insure the car. Any ideas. http://www.waskomtexas.com/zcar
  10. Here is how I solved My cooling problems. http://www.waskomtexas.com/zcar/re_car/engine_cooling.html
  11. 280ZXT83, The original "Z" fuel pump is not on the motor of a Zcar, it should still be up under the body near the front of the gas tank.
  12. I had an R200 in my car with a 350 and a turbo 400. At 3000 RPM I was doing 60 MPH. I put an R200 3.36 in a month or so ago and it seems better but I havenet checked my speed at 3000 RPM yet. I kind of like the kick in the pants that you get with a low speed rear end. Probably poor gas milage but who cares I didn't buy the car for the gas milage.
  13. Here is how I solved the heating problem. http://www.waskomtexas.com/zcar/re_car/engine_cooling.html Also my headers are wraped. I bought the car with the wraping installed. I have driven it about 1000 miles and no problem so far.
  14. Each time you switch to KPH and restart the car you have to switch back to KPH. However, I have not checked with someone following me to check the speed, but I think the KPH reads about twice the speed that I am acutaly driving. I already have a right angle drive on the cable, but it is 1 to 1. I am using a 3.36 rearend with a low profile tire. The engine is a Chev 350 with a turbo 400 trans. If I can find one that is 2 to 1 it might just work. Know anyway to keep it from defaulting to MPH ?
  15. I guess it doesn't work. Maybe it's because I am on a Mac. I have not been able to get the URL to work either.
  16. This has happened twice. The first time I was at a loss, but someone on Hybridz solved the problem for me. The brake lights would not go off. What happens is that there is a small button on the brake pedel that after time gets old and breaks from the presure of the brake switch. When this happens the brake light switch goes through a hole. You will find the broken button in the floorboard. It has happened on the car that I have now. I haven't fixed it yet. The last time I used some weather strip glue on a penny to fix the problem.
  17. How do you insert a picture into a topic.
  18. I bought a 3.36 from ZPARTS at: eric@zparts.com I gave $350.00. I think this rear end is found in some Datsun Maximas.
  19. Interesting question, maybe someone has the answer. I also have a digital dash in an 82 model.
  20. You push in and turn the knob. I don't remember which way.

    Vibration

I made a special effort to time the vibration and it cycles every 3 to 4 seconds. It builds up to a peak and then drops off to nothing.
  22. I welded a steel box that slips down through the hole in the center hump where the original shifter went for my B&M shifter. I used about 1/6" steel, it has 4 tabs that set on top so I could bolt it down. I made it fit very close on the underside and used silcone calk. Nothing comes through and it is solid.

    Vibration

Your use of "beating" is a good term, that is about how it is.

    Vibration

I have a 1982 280ZX with a 350 eng and turbo 400 trans. I am feeling a slight vibration. I have had the tires balanced. It feels different than a tire shake. Its not in the steering wheel. I suspect it is in the drive train someplace. I just installed another rear end in the car. The vibration was in the car with the old rear end about the same. It is hard to explain, it does it all the time. I start to notice it at about 2500 RPM and higher. It is not constant. It comes on and then goes away with a duration of about 10 seconds. It is very slight, much much less than the vibration when you drive on the asphalt sholder of the road that is designed to alert you that you are going off the road way. I supect that it is the drive shaft or one of the CV axels. Any ideas?
