Phantom, That is very useful information. I will save it and not be buying those loud tires. As for the grip I hope to find out how happy you are with them. What HP are u running with the LS1? I have a LT1 with 270 HP and have no idea what it will do in a 1/4 mile. Do u have any idea? Terry

love-my-V8-280Z replied to love-my-V8-280Z's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Im not sure if they have the quality look Im looking for. Anybody know many other places were I can find Z rims? -
Phantom, The tires you have, you are not happy with there gripping ability? It seems from the little checking I have done they are the widest tire that will fit... Is this what you have found? Are you running stock off set? ypu have said you want to go to 10 mm off set, How are u going to find that in the Datsun bolt pattern? Terry

Ok ready for primer but which one to get?
love-my-V8-280Z replied to Ivan280zt's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Dont use a spray can,,,, If you can borrow a spay gun and air compressor its a piece of cake! Primer is the best way to learn. If you run it so what. you sand it out before you put on the top coat. just set the gun so the paint just starts to come out and go to town, you will turn it up some as you get tired of waving it around and it taking for ever to get a spot covered. but start real low, I did my motor area first and was surprised how well it went. I had the color all done and put the clear on, looked perfect, than though gee I have a lot of extra clear in the can so I bumped the sprayer up a little and proceed to make a big run after it was done and perfect! thought a extra layer of clear would look good ya know... -
I was close to buying a gun last week, and did a lot of looking and asking. Don't even waste your time with the qt cup gun. I have read and been told over and over the HVLP are way better. the best part is you will save a lot of paint and have a lot less mess with the over spray. So if buy exspensive paint the difference in cost could be saved in paint. As for which one I want a name brand that I will be able to get parts for. Sharpe and Devilbiss both make a good gun for about $160. So a friend lent me his new cheapy cup gun, I only needed to paint the transmission, a/c, alt.... I will not use it to paint the body....

I wouldn't do 17" rims. The stock is 14 every size you go up to ride gets worse. Its aready a 30 yr old design. What I have done is copied tons of other peoples comments and pics detailing what they say and how the cars look with the different sizes. So make a tires folder and copy things into a word doc and start saving. I have a ton., so when it comes time to buy tires and rims I can deside on size, rimes etc,,, wheel spacers? change lug pattern to honda, lots of things to consider. So at this eary stage Im thinking 15" and wheel spacers so I dont have to use datsun rims, very few to pick from....

Found inaccuracy's in the JTR book !!!
love-my-V8-280Z replied to love-my-V8-280Z's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
I have read the book cover to cover and no it does not say "use these" But it does draw them each on a seperate page, very miss leading. And they are only off a small %. I believe when they drew them they were accrate. I'm assuming they became distortated when they went to print. And for the most part, I only made this post so others don't make the same mistake I make. -

I know its not the scanner, as I had said I bought there mounts and placed them on top of there print and its not a huge difference but plenty enuff to screw you over. with the holes of in different dirrections you would have to ream them out a lot to make them match... -
Has anyone here just upgraded the cam? I have a 95 LT1 and would like to up the pony but not kill my pocket. The motor is out of the car and now is the time to do it. I have seen the LT4 heads and cam, If I remember it was about $2,000. Mark, you went from 270 to 314 with the lt4 heads and cam, are you happy with the upgrade for the cost?

I went and bought the steel to make my JTR mounts, I copied the pages from the book and used them as a stencil. Well it turned out so bad I gave up and just ordered there’s. Well today I also had a lot of confusion when trying to follow the directions. The copies in the book have two problems. One when I placed my new brackets on there picture they were a LOT different. Also they labeled both brackets as passenger side and told you to turn to page (whatever) to see them installed and they have the wrong page number. I was able to figure it out, its no big deal but if they had taken accurate measurements when making the diagrams I would have not wasted $25 on the metal, 2 hours making them wrong and probably not spent the $80 on there hardware..

I have the diagram on the computer. If you want I send you a copy.. It uses acrobat to view it. This program lets you view page by page and print them how ever you want. Other wise when you view the diagram on your computer and want to print it, Pick print from the file in the top left corner, when a window opens you should be able to pick "custom and your printer program should let you make the photo the size you want and preview it before you print.

First I can't figure out how to post a pic... Anyway I came across someone that had posted pics and they had some real nice red spark plug wire holders that connected to the center bolts on the center bolt down valve covers. They divided the spark plug wires real nice.. Anyone know were I can buy them or who posted the pics? I cant remember the topic.... Thanks Terry
