  1. Amazing how far off topic this has gotten.....
  2. Only going on what I was told by a frequent 'poster', just trying to throw out a 'line' and see if I 'catch' anything..... Since I've got a couple of you guys' attention, who in the mail order game makes (sells) the BEST dash cap (MSA, VB,....)?
  3. Did a search from home page, and came up with nothing. A buddy of mine from this site thought he remembered someone fitting a Camaro console (which are plentiful at the JY), into the 240Z with relative ease. Any of you remember this or have personal experience here? Thanks!
  4. Mike, would have linked it if I knew how...
  5. I'm sure that you already know this; but, I like to 'see' myself 'talk'..... In order to get a clear rotation, the fulcrum of the engine stand needs to be at least 34" from the ground. Most of the stands I've been looking at (to do the same thing) don't quite make it. I did a search and saw someone publish plans with about $76 in raw stock to make the whole deal. That should be less than any pair of engine stands on sale (even Harbor Freight). My plan was to get the pair of engine stands, section the riser, weld in a longer inner 'sleeve', and reweld to sort of make a fixed telescope. Again, you probably already knew all of this......
  6. I went to the 'pit stop' site, and yes the prices are impressive; but, these springs cannot be used with OE strut housings, correct? Are you folks changing out springs on aftermarket coilover housings? If the aforementioned springs WILL work on the OE perch of a gen 1 Z, please PM me and help me pick the appropriate Hypercoil springs......thanks!
  7. Saw a listing on http://www.craigslist.org San Francisco under Cars/Trucks if anyone interested....
  8. Tim, Can you show a pic of the hood vent detail? Really happy for you Stan
  9. Congrats Tim! No one deserves to enjoy the fruit of their labor more than you! You've been such an inspiration & motivator for me, I just hope mine turns out half as sweet as yours [Oh, and definitely in HALF THE TIME ]!
  10. First, Thanks very much to those of you who chose to give me your .02 (for Tim, it is comparatively .75)! I realized after I sent the post that I made a big faux pas in such a question on a board that's focus is MODIFYING, so...dumb question. I still appreciate a different (or similar) perspective. I have the attention to detail to do a near-concours restoration; but, like you gentlemen I have a to exercise my individuality. And, ther's no replacement for displacement Gotta have GO!! The reality is that I likely could not have as much fun in a plain, albeit rare, '70 240Z. I have modded my last few 240s, and this time should go all the way with the V8 conversion. I may never get my 'investment' back; but, I'd also be foolish to think of any car project as an 'investment'. Its a labor of love, right.....can I get a "Hell yeah"?! And, I feel fortunate to have found this site to benefit from so many experiences, and generous people like Tim. Again, thanks!
  11. Season's Greetings to all of the members from a 'newbie'/lurker. I hope that you are all healthy and happy. This is my first 'open' post, so go easy with the FLAMETHROWING I have a bit of a dilemma and invite anyone so inclined to offer up your .02. No need to berate, just tell me what you'd do. With about the same estimated expense (~$10k) would you a) restore a '70 240Z to its original glory or do a V8 conversion on a '72/'73 ? I have an opportunity, with both cars available and obviously cannot do both. So, what d'ya think? P.S. All the best in the New Year!
