  1. I was curious what some of your experiences have been with have blocks liner'ed. I am looking to make an LD stroker and need the cylinder liners because the LD28 block has a small bore that can't support the overbore. The previous owner built 3.1L in the 240 locked up. I have a 89mm honing brush and spare pistons/rods, but why not make a better "forever" motor while I have it apart? I've already got 2 sets (8) of the longer rods I need, and another fresh set of KA pistons I could have machined. Basically just looking for experiences, rough $$ price, possible issues etc. I've searched and read through what I could find here. I definitely get the concept, and I have talked to a machine shop. I plan on shopping around a bit until I find a place in Albuquerque I'm comfortable with. I just need to know if there are other things I could be missing; i.e. particular liner brands, details that matter, can a place that regularly does Honda blocks do a good job...
  2. Ditto the Porsche comments. Aside from being factory installed, many very high hp 911's use them. It is very common in P-land, even on 200mph cars. Don't believe me? Flip through an issue of "Excellence" and you'll see ads for them throughout. As far as strength, quality machining and metallurgy is the key. Most dually trucks use spacers on the front to allow the use of flipped dually rear wheels up front. Granted, they are usually beefy steel, but you get the idea.
  3. Have you looked at a 350z tranny? Pictures would be a big help...
  4. Wow. Representative Bentz has already replied to me. If I lived there he would get my vote. Here's his email:
  5. Just sent a small heartfelt novel to each Representative on the SEMA list. I urge anyone who disagrees with this bill to do the same. I'm looking to move to Oregon, but as Montezuma said above, the spill over to other states will happen.
  6. The 302 has been done by several, some searching will turn up the threads. No more difficult necessarily, but there isn't a ready made kit like the SBC. Is it a two or four barrel? The two barrel made 210hp factory, I believe the four was rated at 250hp. I had a 70k mile two barrel from my rusted out '71 Torino. It ran very well, and was strong enough to break the old bias plys loose hitting second gear in that big car. After the Torino expired, I swapped it into my six cylinder '66 Mustang. As is, with zero mods, a two barrel and automatic, I could walk away from my friends new 92 GT (which ran 13.8's). That should be a decent performance comparison, as I would estimate the car weighed around 2500lbs.
  7. Yeah Yasin, that's exactly where I stand. If it was in Texas, Colorado, or AZ I'd have it already, and I certainly don't need it.
  8. -Just thought I would pass on this 280zx widebody so someone here can give it a good home. It seems like a great deal. $1700 if you're located on the east coast. The kit looks like it is probably a knock-off of the Kaminari ZX. I'm glad it's so far away from me... somebody buy it! http://www.erebuni.net/carspecials/salecars280zx.htm
  9. This is a neat idea thats in my stack of mid-life "someday" engineering exercises. Synchronizing both engines would be easy, there are already products made for boats and twin-engine small planes.
  10. That year of Merc with a 302 has the CFI injection, a version of throttle body injection with two injectors mounted to the TB 4 barrel style. It is not a HO engine, and does not have a roller cam. Later years '87 or so, had the familiar 5.0 SEFI intake everyone knows from the Mustangs. And "pretty good" is not what I would call any production SBF head until the GT40's. Having had an '84 Grand Marquis and several Mustangs, I'm not just talking trash.
  11. Damn! I knew I should have Pdf'ed that entire site. It was an awesome source of info. I even tracked down and bought "Aerodynamics of Propulsion" because of that page. Looks like I have another book to buy...
  12. You could save some money and get them brand new from Jeg's or Summit.
  13. Here's my 2 cents - Have a multifit t3/t4 flange (keeps everyone happy and leaves more options for upgrades) and as close to equal length as can be made to fit. -I'm not sure this is ideal for what I'd want, but it would get more interest- Position the turbo in roughly the same place as the L28ET manifold and everyone's current intake piping and downpipes could match up. Unfortunately, the factory location is a little high and tight to the block.
  14. Color me interested also. A fair price and decent design is a big factor. A tubular version of the factory manifold would also be a waste of time.
  15. Woldson, that's a Mercedes 300SEL 6.3 liter.
  16. That looks just like the NOS Kamei air dam that came with my $100 parts car. Yours should be a little more solid than the flex-ithane of the original. Start churning out those spoilers! I'm waiting for the "for sale" announcement.
  17. Neat stuff. I really like the idea of an "iris" type throttle valve. -the Problem is that any I've found in a usable size are just way too damn expensive.
  18. I'll just chime in that I've bought from Gira777 before with no issues. You even get neat foreign stamps in the deal. -Though that is an insane price for an admittedly hard to find part...
  19. -Having purchased Rotella for my truck for the last 4 years, I'm pretty sure #1 & 2 are the same, just new and old style jugs. I've been running the 15w40 in my 3.1 for 6 months or so with no ill effects. I had hoped it would quiet my tappets some, but no dice.
  20. 283VZ -Post some prices if you get any.
  21. Here's a link to that page of the catalog. http://www.jimcookracing.com/catalog/page15.html "Solid" sounds like fiberglass or plastic that is not transparent, and they probably look just like the pic you posted. JCR isn't replying yet.
  22. I haven't received a reply yet. I'll try calling next week if I don't hear anything. Also, I think they just have a generic picture of one type. They list 4 part #'s for sale on that page.
  23. Lou, thanks! How the hell did I miss that ?!? I will contact them shortly...
  24. How did they manage to botch the looks of the front end like that?!? Their entire line of cars is styled pretty well, yet they blow it when rolling out their flagship... The Skyline has always been understated, yet aggressive -kind of a Japanese Chrysler 300 (NOT the new ones). Hopefully the JDM aftermarket will come up with a decent nose/bumper replacement. It also seems Nissan still likes the twin intake/exhaust layout, ala Z32TT.
  25. Nice video. I'd like to know more about most of those cars... I'm curious what a little Google and Bablefish can come up with.
