  1. Aaron, I don't mean this to be rude, but you are an aircraft mechanic, you took the measurements, and you don't think they will work......what other info do you need? It's all pretty simple to calculate what will and what will not fit without rubbing. Tape measures don't lie. Shoot, you could always make a profile of the tire/wheel out of thin plywood, mount it, and check for clearance issues.

  2. Just some food for thought! Older engines will form a very thin layer of corrosion (visually not to apparent, except for the rust color) on the coolant passages. This thin corrosion layer does not look like anything that needs attention, but it does act as an insulation barrier and reduces the heat transfer from engine to coolant fluid. A good coolant system flush is always a good idea to remove this thin layer of corrosion.

  3. Since you haven't stated what year your Z is, I'll assume its a series I or II. On my conversion (actually its Terry Oxandales recomended conversion) I have 280ZX front calipers over turned down 300ZX vented rotors, a 15/16" MC, 280ZXT rear calipers over 280ZX rotors. The proportioning valve at the rear of the car (on early Zs and under the bonnet on later models)...I simply removed the internals from it. So now the old proportioning valve acts as just a T in the line. The brake bias is just fine for a street car.

    I'm with John.....I thought the idea behind multi-plate clutches was to reduce rotating mass, hence their small diameter.

Why don't parents just take the time to educate their kids a little about having self esteem and confidence in themselves....that is of course considering that the parents have it themselves!!!     BTW, the truck's only been to the track a handful of times. Most of it's short racing life was on the street from a roll. It IS a supra motor ya know? lol

    Dividing the diameter by two gives you the radius (half the diameter). So the difference you are concerned about (additional wheel clearance) only deals with one side of the spring (adjacent to the tire/wheel). Basically, smaller spring diameter.....more clearance.

    It will all be much clearer after a couple more beers!

    I'm not of your generation, so I don't quite understand what you mean when you say your dad rides LIKE 5 to 6 days a week. Do you mean he doesn't actually ride 5 to 6 days a week or he would LIKE to ride 5 to 6 days a week!!? I constantly hear the youth of today using the word LIKE a tremendous amount and totally out of context. Do they not teach grammer is school anymore??? Just curious!

  13. they have tweeters on them so I cant trace also the hole they go into must be smaller than the circumferance of the speaker so there is no real way to make your own template by tracing anyways. I want this to look professional. This is a standard speaker size there must be a printable template somewhere...

     

    If you want it to look like a profesional job, take it to a professional who has the skills, knowledge, and abilities! The word CAN'T never gets a job done and you CAN use your existing speakers to make a template! However, it does require the aforementioned skills, knowledge, and ability. You might try taking a piece of thin cardboard (template material), cut out a hole big enough to clear the tweeter, place it over the speaker assy and them turn it face down supported by a couple of spacers (2 x 4s or books) so the tweeter if not touching your working surface. Now trace around the outside of the speaker....remove the template from the speaker. Now replicate the area on the speaker that will constitutes the speaker opening and transfer it to the template.....make your final cuts on the template and now you have your installation template! Sounds harder than it is.

    Hey, chicks dig scares....all avid mtn bikers have thier share of trophies to display! A challenging sport for sure. If I didn't have Mtn Biking, I'd have to spend all my extra cash on my Z and then.............well, I'd probably be over wieght but could likely afford to build my Z into a real track car. Oh well, we all make choices don't we?

  15. Excellent.......another one into the fold! Been mtn biking for nearly 17 years myself. Personally I believe once you learn to love pain and accept it as your friend, you will really begin to enjoy the sport alot more. Can't think of a better way to stay mentally and physically fit while having fun with your buds!

     

    P.S. If you don't crash every once and a while, your not tryin hard enough. "Keep the rubber side down".

  16. 260DET, Are you talking about installing the spherical bearing into the existing cavity the stock bushings are in. I don't see a reason why you couldn't! I think the only issue you may run into is the sizing of the spherical bearing.....both OD and ID. And centering and securing the new bearing in the cavity. With this mod, you could also incorperate adjustable TC rods so you can adjust your caster. But you are probably planning to do that already!

  17. I think the key to an R180's strength is having a 4 pinion spider assembly in the diff carrier assy. The stock open units have a 2 pinion spider...as well as the stock R200 open diffs. Fortunitely, most every LSD carrier I've seen or installed have a 4 pinion spider assy.
