Moridin, Didn't mean to single you out dude, just answering the quesiton you posted, by asking another question... No harm/ no foul intended. 8) Jon M. NAILED it with his perspective on the intent for the right to bear arms. He also got it right with the 1934 National Firearms Act that said that you needed a license to own a fully automatic weapon, and the controversial 1968 Gun Control Act. I always found it funny to laugh at the IDIOTS who thought the assault weapons ban had anything to do with full automatic weapons... Bottom line is the ban on assault weapons was a feel good, do little "ACT" that served ZERO purpose other than driving up pre-ban magazine clips for semi-automatic firearms of all designs. Here is another little known fact... For every assault style weapon used in a felony, your local law enforcement will confiscate over 100 guns that did NOT fall under the defenition of "assault" weapon... Notice I said your LOCAL law enforcement... Which means the total ratio nationwide is something so small that we should all be ashamed that we ever allowed elected officials pass this thing into "LAW". Remember what I mentioned previously... We have excellent laws on the books that do not get enforced, because those career law makers in Washington need to make more redundant laws to trumpet their successes come election time... THIS is not a "Party statement"... It is a "National Reform" statement. Wonder what other laws they will force on us, and how many more sheeople will flock to useless "ACTS", thinking they mean anything at all... It is truly hillarious to watch the light come on when someone realizes WHAT the Assault Weapons ban was! Baaah Baahhhahhhahhaaaaaa Mike 8)

The 383 stroker is a lower reving, high torque producing motor, and works rather well in the Z, but be prepared to upgrade the differential, axles, and brakes... You'll need it! The one thing you need to find out is the condition of the chassis... Is the unitbody solid? How are the floorpans, batterybox area, rear hatch, frame rails, and wipermotor area? Find out the real condition of the car... It sounds like a decent price, so long as the motor is holding good compression numbers in the cylinders and the car is solid. However, Unless you plan to fly out and visually inspect it yourself, I'd think twice... Buying a car with these mods sight unseen is risky. As for shipping, I was quoted anywhere from $600-1000 for shipping a car from Salt Lake City Utah to Richmond Virginia when I was shopping for a corvette. Do the conversion on the funds and that would give you a ballpark for that kind of distance, about 2000 miles. Hope this helps... BTW, the Chevy 383 stroker is a small block chevy configuration that has one of two stoke configurations... Either using a 5.7 inch rod, or a 6 inch rod in the shortblock... But the block is a standard 350 block with some material removed for rod clearance, depending on the rod used. Mike 8)

Moridin, I am assuming you are intimating that we deserved to be attacked... As for our training Osama, DOn't have a clue where you got that information... we did not. Further more, We had NOTHING to do with the development of WMD in Iraq. We supported Iraq in their conflict with Iran, but once we found out they were developing WMD and had USED them on Iran, we stopped supporting them. All support of Saddam's power ended when (And I was working a watchcenter position when this went down, it was a horrible night!) he gassed the Kurds. I'm going to repeat myself again, and we ALL need to heed this... DO your research and be DAMNED CERTAIN you understand what you are reading before you allign yourselves with a candidate... My personal opinion on the middle east has always been one of two choices... 110% support of Israil, with full warfare on Syria, Iran, Iraq (Which is done now), Libya, and the complete destruction of the PLO and it's leadership... OR PULL OUT OF THE Region and let them (All of them) fix their own problems... But the last caveatte comes with a string attached... When the rest of the world comes crying to us for help, we turn them away... You can't have it both ways, people... You can't want for us, the most powerful country in the world, to go out to these arm pits of the world to provide assistance without getting somewhat involved in their politics... We try to remain neutral in most cases, but you always have a power struggle between those who live in the region to get our alignment with them... Some of the cavelier attitudes have begged this question to be asked... Since you folks are so critical of our government... WHAT ARE YOU DOING to make it better? We can type and bitch and moan about how we aren't happy with the internation political scene we are currently a part of, But what are "WE" as a population going to do about it??? Actually Washington DC is an Excellent example of gun control as a FAILURE... It has been consistantly one of the top 10 most dangerous cities in the US to live in for 2+ decades... Guess what? It is Illegal to own guns in Washington DC... Apparently everyone got the memo, except for the gang bangers, thugs and drug dealers. I'm amazed that the same train of thought that would want to ban weapons from being owned by private citizens, would also be the same train of thought for someone who would build cars capable of becoming land missiles... Guns are tools... And they are a large hobby industry in this country... You go and regulate them out of the hands of American citizens and see where we are in five years... IT won't be pretty... And once they have won that battle, bettcha they then focus their attentions on something else that will maybe hit closer to home, like hotrods or fast cars with modified motors... Mike 8)

I can argue from my unique point of view all day long the WMD stance and why it was a "sure Bet", but without disclosure of real facts, real data (And most likely JAIL TIME FOR ME), few would understand how we got where we are in good faith. We let these kinds of discussions persist on our site for these reasons. I'd like to believe that we are intelligent enough, smart enough, civil enough, and mature enough to debate such topics without letting emotion run them into being deleted... That is the purpose... Pop, Jon M., Kevin, Phil and Michael make very good arguments for your view on this crazy world we all currently deal with. Nothing wrong with reasonable dialogue on subjects that are obviously on all our minds. We come from different backgrounds, with different views on life, liberty and our pursuits of Freedom. How each of us pursues it is no different than making our own Zcar creations... the end is the same, in our own personal views. Gentlemen, I offer up this answer... there is no defined right or wrong... These are simply opinions and views... Moridin, My personal beliefs aside, Let me turn the question back on you and more specifically to anyone who wants to cast stones on those who choose to arm themselves "LEGALLY": Why not? By their own argument, the same people who lobby against guns also could just as easily argue against anyone having an automobile that exceeds 100HP to be registered on the great highways and biways of this land... We can certainly get from point A to point B in little 4 cylindered, unmodified efficency machines, and curb our thirst for gas. We certainly don't "NEED" a Datsun 240 Z with a 500HP turbocharged motor in it, do we? Your answer to this question should be the same answer to everything related to the gun ban movement. These same irrational LIBERAL individuals would like to regulate how I fornicate with my wife, where I invest my retirement money, and what trees I keep in my yard... My point is that the argument against "Assault" weapons was never properly argued. All they did was tote out crime scene photos from a few high profile cases of children sprawled on playgrounds dead or in front of McDonalds laying dead next to their bicycles, and that was it. Those who LEGALLY own weapons, register them, and take the time to get legal are NOT your threat... Bubba at the gun show shouldn't worry you, and if he does, you don't understand the threat... I see more crime, more killing with guns in urban areas than any other... Urban lifestyle choices promote the use of assault and other weapons illegally... 10 minutes watching rap videos on any of the cable video channels will show you the young urbanite mindset wanting to wage war against establishment with assault and other weapons, and the lyrics are peppered with gun phrases... Do you know that fewer than 10% of your elected officials even READ the act before signing it into law? Democrat, republican, doesn't matter... Almost NONE of them read the damned thing when it was presented... Did some assistant somewhere glance through it? Maybe, maybe not... Again, You elected these people to staff our senate and congress. IF you are going to hold George W. Bush accountable for 9/11/2001, Afghanistan, Iraq and everything else the democrats are trying to pin on him, you better damned well line ever other elected senator and congressman/woman except Kennedy and Dean up right along side him... You can NOT do one without the other, PERIOD. They all have access to the same data. They can ALL make requests of the various agencies to get specialized and specific briefings to educate themselves on something before voting... Why don't you sell your PM rods and buy a complete balanced "Kit" from Summit or others... Don't discount ebay either... There are a TON of balanced assemblies forsale at reasonable prices. Those PM rods are nice enough for lower HP ratings, but by the time you check them out, have new rod bolts installed and do any race prepping, you could get yourself a nice 6 inch H or Ibeam rod for about $379... You'd be half way there by prepping yours... Once you go into the 400HP range, longevity of internal parts needs to be seriously looked at... plan the build to build it once... Do your research... Far more people have been killed by cheap and easily available handguns in one month nationwide than by all high capacity weapons combined. Periods of war being the ONLY exception. This BAN was the reason I sold my "Assault" rifles and gave up my NRA card and will NEVER belong to that organization again. Pop, I 100% agree with your last post. I've said repeatedly that Bush was THE BEST candidate to deal with a 9/11 like disaster and I'm proud of the way he handled that one, only 8 months into learning how to run a country first hand. I'm still amazed that people FORGET that part... Pete, Yup, we're ALL being duped. But let's spread the blame around... There is enough for democrats and republicans to share... Pop, I disagree... and Furthermore, I really don't care about "rights Violations". I take a polygraph test and suffer an extesnive background investigation every five years. Every year in July I submit a financial disclosure statement for my total earnings and debt for the last twelve months. I have nothing to hide, nothing to worry about and nothing to fear. Maybe I do trust in our system to much, but it is a price I'm willing to pay to do the work I do and get the inflated salary that my company dares to pay me. No, I'm not sorry for the way we are currently dealing with sleeper cells and internal support networks for terror organizations... Sorry, but I'm all for public executions and death of THEIR way of life... I liken these extremists to a cancer that needs to be exterminated... Erase them from the face of this earth... I also have another saying... "Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck... Must be a duck!" If you don't want to be mistaken for being involved with an organization, or person who might potentially be suspected of supporting terrorism, then don't hang around them, donate money, or associate with their type. Second, let me say that you, in your post, captured EVERYTHING I feel about the Patriot Act, and our current environment... Mark, Re-read what I said in my previous post... BEFORE Bush was President, what did he do? And BTW, the Democrats will argue that that check you, me and everyone else got, contributed directly to our deficite. I'd not toot that horn to loudly... One of the things Clinton will forever be credited with, and I will NOT argue, and history will not dispute is that during his presidency, we dug ourselves out of the deficite we had previously been buried in. Actually that isn't the case... The pre-ban guns had up to 20 round capacity clips in them... The Glock 17 I used to carry had 17 rounds plus one up the pipe. My new glock, model 27 carries 9 in the clip and one up the pipe... The same round capacity that its full framed companion carries... 9 rounds plus one up the pipe. The old gun was a 9mm, and the new is .40 cal. Nockdown power is the #1 reason I bought it, and I carry three clips with it in my fanny pack... I'm considering the new Taurus Colt 45 five shot snub nose lightweight... Bottom line is if you can't hit and incapacitate your target in five rounds, you are likely dead, or have scared the threat away anyway. Clinton's Ban on assault weapons goes back to an earlier statement I made and that few have publically hit on... What good came from John Kerry as a senator? What positive difference has been made in his wake? How about GW Bush, prior to his place in the whitehouse? What steller impact did he make as Governor of Texas? What was the greater good either of these back markers made on society as a whole? I don't care about their pathetic records in the military. Both served in some capacity... both did as they have in public office... "Good enough for Gov't" is the term that comes to mind when discussing both of these men... What G-O-O-D have they done??? So sad that we would focus on the dirt, and not see the real tragedy in their opportunities missed... These two men are self serving, have very little good to show for their efforts to "represent" their states in federal gov't... I built my 383 stroker using ebay NEW parts... Hbeam rods, Wiseco pro forged pistons, new internal balanced Scat 9000 Crank... Lots of NEW PARTS deals out there on ebay... You could buy all the parts for a 100% bulletproof shortblock... I'd NOT recommend the base GM motor in a blower application. The rods and rod bolts are weak, not to mention the skirts on the pistons... Mike 8)
